WOMAN WHO ENTERED PITT'S HOME SOUGHT
A $5,000 arrest warrant has been issued for a woman convicted of
trespassing at the Hollywood Hills home of actor Brad Pitt. The
warrant for Athena M. Rolando was activated after she twice failed
to appear for a court hearing on her progress in undergoing
counseling, the city attorney's office said Friday. Rolando climbed
into Pitt's home through a rear window last year while the actor
was away. A caretaker found her wearing Pitt's clothes and sleeping
in an upstairs bedroom.
REMEMBER THE SWAYZE PLANE CRASH?
Two construction workers pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and were
fined $110 each for giving police false information about the crash
of a plane piloted by Patrick Swayze. Brian Nelson and Joshua Angel
pleaded guilty to the charges on Wednesday. Another worker, Adam
Martin, is still facing charges. The construction workers witnessed
the June 1 crash of the plane as they worked on a housing
development. The three initially told police they didn't see the
accident but then later said they helped Swayze remove a half-empty
30-pack of beer and a nearly empty bottle of wine before driving
him to a hotel. Those claims were apparently false.
THOUSANDS DOWNLOAD KING'S WEB NOVEL
Stephen King's latest online publishing effort got off to a smooth
start Monday as thousands of users downloaded the first installment
of "The Plant," a new serial novel. Early indications were that
most readers were abiding by the honor system and coughing up the
$1 per copy King is asking for. King said putting the new novel in
the easy-to-use PDF file format helped avoid the technical glitches
that occurred in March when readers got stymied trying to download
his novella "Riding The Bullet," which came in an encrypted format.
Marsha DeFilippo, an aide who is working with King on the project,
said that as of Monday afternoon there had been about 34,000
downloads and that about 75% of the users were paying their dollar
right away by credit card. Novel can be downloaded at

'GADGET' SEQUEL IN THE WORKS
It's been reported that Alex Zamm will co-rewrite and likely direct
a direct-to-video sequel to "Inspector Gadget" for Disney.
Matthew Broderick and the others in the original film are not
expected to return for the film, which is budgeted at $10 million
and will introduce a new female Gadget named G-2.
REBECCA ROMIJN-STAMOS JOINS 'ROLLERBALL'
Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, fresh from her role in "X-Men," has been
cast in the female lead role of Aurora in MGM's "Rollerball"
update. She joins Chris Klein ("American Pie") and LL Cool J in the
picture, which starts shooting Wednesday in Montreal under the helm
of John McTiernan ("The Thomas Crown Affair").
OLIVER STONE'S LAWSUIT WOES
Oliver Stone has begun answering questions in a lawsuit that faults
his movie "Natural Born Killers" for sparking a crime spree that
left a woman paralyzed. The family of Patsy Byers, who was shot and
later died of cancer, says Stone's film triggered the attack on the
convenience store clerk in 1995. The lawsuit seeks damages from
Stone and movie distributor Time Warner.
SPACEY IN SCI-FI THRILLER
Two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey is set to star in Universal's
sci-fi fable "K-PAX," to be directed by Iain Softley. The project
is slated to start production in November. Spacey will play a
mysterious new patient at a mental hospital who claims to come from
a distant planet called K-PAX. As his psychiatrist tries to figure
out exactly how to help him, the doctor gradually begins to realize
the so-called alien is having a remarkable effect on the mental
health of the hospital's other patients. Determined to prove the
stranger is nothing more than a tragic victim of
multiple-personality disorder, the doctor soon finds himself
doubting his own diagnosis.
NOVEMBER VIDEO RELEASE FOR 'X-MEN'
Fox Home Video is expected to release the "X-MEN" movie on
VHS & DVD on November 21st. TITAN A.E. and ME, MYSELF, & IRENE are
also scheduled for release this year.
TEEN MOVIE SPOOF
Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, who wrote the spec script
"Scream If You Know What I Did Last Halloween" which morphed into
the Dimension hit "Scary Movie," have made a seven-figure deal with
Independent Pictures for an untitled comedy pitch that will spoof
the teen movie genre the way "Scary Movie" did the horror genre.
WEB SITE UNDER ATTACK
The entertainment industry continued its assault on Internet
delivery services Thursday when the major movie and record studios
sued Scour.com for copyright violations. In its suit, the studios
claim the Internet site and search engine, which is partly backed
by Hollywood impresario Michael Ovitz, is doing little more than
stealing its products. "I think what Scour is doing is aiding and
abetting thievery," Motion Picture Association of America chief
Jack Valenti said, speaking on behalf of the studios.
LANSBURY OUT OF MUSICAL
Angela Lansbury has withdrawn from a new Broadway musical "The
Visit" scheduled to open next spring, saying she's "absolutely
shattered" to do so but needs to be with her husband as he recovers
from heart surgery.
HOLLYWOOD GET'S READY FOR 2001 WALKOUTS
Hollywood studios have hastened production on movies and TV shows
in anticipation of walkouts by actors and screenwriters next year
over what many believe will be lengthy contract negotiations.
Contracts with the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild
are set to expire in May and July of 2001, respectively, and moves
by the industry underscore fears about the resolution of
long-debated issues. Key issues include pay for work appearing on
cable television and in overseas markets; and how to compensate for
work distributed on the Internet.

THOUSANDS APPLY FOR 'THE SAPRANO'S'
13,000 Soprano wannabes turned out Saturday at Harrison High
School, dreaming of becoming the next Salvatore "Big Pusssy"
Bompensiero, the snitch who got whacked last season and ended up in
a watery grave. Lines stretched for blocks, so many people that the
casting call was shut down after just 30 minutes. People left out
were told to mail their applications. Police had to call in
reinforcements to handle the crowds and highway entrances to
Harrison were closed temporarily.
RICK ROCKWELL LOSES TOENAIL
The "Who Wants to Marry a Multimillionaire" groom says he was
assaulted early Sunday by a fan who hurt his toe. Rick Rockwell
said a fan who stopped to chat with him late Saturday after his
comedy show at a local nightclub followed him back to his motel
room. The two scuffled after the fan looked in his window, Rockwell
said, and the man stepped on his toe and took off a toenail.
Authorities are investigating the incident as an assault and have a
suspect, police Sgt. Kevin Kallinen said. OUCH!
'LIVE WITH REGIS' IS THE NEW NAME
According to The New York Daily News, "Live with Regis and Kathie
Lee" will simply be titled "Live with Regis" after Lee's departure
from the show this coming Friday. A new co-host has yet to be
announced, but a series of rotating guests is planned for the first
few weeks in the post-Cody era.

3. MOVIE REVIEW - 'What Lies Beneath'
================================================
WHAT LIES BENEATH - Harrison Ford, Michelle Pfeiffer
This movie was completely different than I thought it was going to
be. I've seen the trailers for the last few months and thought
that the film was going to be a little spooky, but more romantic
than anything. Boy was that the wrong conclusion. This movie was
more like The Sixth Sense than Sleepless In Seattle. The best part
of the film has got to be the very beginning. I had just gotten
comfortable when the first scene hit the screen and I jumped. I
love that...films that grab you right out of the gate. Some of the
'scary' sequences were predictable, but I think it was all a set up
for an ending that I didn't see coming at all. The acting was
excellent and should have been considering the star power in the
flick. Pfeiffer's character reminded me of her role in Wolf with
Jack Nicholson while Ford did a complete reversal of any
performance he's done previously...I'm still getting used to that.
The whole film was well done and I love the fact the movie's score
didn't overtake the film. Have you ever noticed that in scary
movies the background music tends to be loud, annoying, and always
foretells what's going to happen? Well this film doesn't have
that. It lets the action and the actors scare you, not the music.
I wish more films were like that. Anyway, very good movie. I
recommend buying popcorn because you may chew off your fingernails.
