3. IN THE NEWS
=======================================================

TALKS ON FOR 'T3'
After a decade, the Terminator is back. Arnold Schwarzenegger has
signed to reprise his role as the cyborg in "Terminator 3,"
scheduled for a spring 2001 start in Los Angeles for a summer 2002
release. Sources close to James Cameron, the writer/director of the
first two "Terminator" films, said he is talking with
Schwarzenegger about returning to the fold, but that he is
currently not attached to the project.

INDIANA JONES 4 IN THE WORKS?
Writer-director M. Night Shyamalan ("The Sixth Sense") is talking
with George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford about
scripting a fourth installment of the "Indiana Jones" series, which
Spielberg would direct in 2002. No deal is in place, but sources
said indications are strong that Shyamalan will start writing in
January, once he completes "Unbreakable," a script for which he was
paid $10 million by Disney to write and direct, with Bruce Willis
and Samuel L. Jackson starring.

SHARON BACK TO BASIC
Actress Sharon Stone, who made a name for herself by seductively
flashing the camera in 1992's Basic Instinct, has signed on to
reprise her role as murder suspect Catherine Tramell in Basic
Instinct 2. Stone's deal is said to be worth an estimated $15
million.

'MEN IN BLACK' DVD - SEPT 5
"Men in Black" is coming back with a vengeance Sept. 5 on DVD, with
enough new and groundbreaking material to fill an alien spacecraft.
A special double-disc Limited Edition priced at $39.95 will feature
a first-of-its-kind editing workshop that allows the viewer to edit
several cuts in a scene in the order of their choosing, with
director Barry Sonnenfeld explaining why he chose to edit the film
the way he did. The Limited Edition also will include segments that
can be viewed from a variety of angles about character animation
and scenes involving the tunnel and the Edgar bug fight. Sonnenfeld
and star Tommy Lee Jones also provide visual commentary with
onscreen diagrams, and Sonnenfeld, Rick Baker and the special
effects team provide technical audio commentary. Also on the disc
is an original featurette, a new documentary, extended and
alternate scenes, as well as the usual array of extras like
trailers, music videos and storyboards.

IVANA'S BOILING MAD
Ivana Trump is suing a popular Italian TV show for $3 million after
the show doused her with water and left the normally well
put-together celeb looking like a wet paper bag. The 51-year-old
former wife of gazillionaire developer Donald Trump had agreed to
appear on Scherzi Aparte, a Candid Camera-like program, for an
$18,000 appearance fee but didn't expect the surprise dousing. The
suit says she suffered "bodily harm, shock, chills, nervousness,
high fever, nausea, embarrassment and severe emotional distress."

DON RICKLES HONORED
Comedian Don Rickles and veteran Titanic star Gloria Stuart are
among the 23 celebrities who will get stars on the Hollywood Walk
of Fame next year. Others making the cut include Peter Fonda,
Sábado Gigante host Don Francisco, Kelsey Grammer, Al Jarreau, John
Lithgow, Kenny Loggins, Bob Marley, Winona Ryder, Robert Wagner and
"Dear Abby" advice columnist Abigail Van Buren.

CHANGE IN RELEASE SCHEDULES
John Travolta's new film "Numbers" has been pushed back from a July
14th to an October 27th release, and Will Smith &
Matt Damon's "The Legend of Bagger Vance" has moved from August 4th
to November 3rd.

WOODY SECURES $100 MILLION
Woody Allen has secured an estimated $100 million in advance
financing for his next three pics from German licensing and
distribution outfit VCL Film+Media AG. The deal marks the first
time that the quirky Small Time Crooks director has secured full
financing for three pictures in advance.

SAG HACKS SHAQ FOR DISNEY AD
Shaquille O'Neal may have just carried the Los Angeles Lakers to an
NBA championship, but he's being called for a technical foul by the
Screen Actors Guild. Soon after L.A.'s Game 6 win over Indiana on
Monday, O'Neal taped an "I'm going to Disneyland" spot, paying no
mind to SAG's current strike against advertisers. "We are very
disappointed about the ad," SAG rep Todd Amorde told Variety. "In a
strike situation, there are no special circumstances." Shaq's agent
Leonard Armato said proceeds from the ad will go to charity. At
least NBC has no beef with Shaq, nor Tiger Woods for that matter:
The Peacock Network rode the NBA Finals and Woods's dominating U.S.
Open golf victory to a ratings win for the week.

AFFLECK IS JACK RYAN?
I hope not. Ben Affleck is said to be taking over the role of Jack
Ryan in Tom Clancy's Sun of All Fears. The Clancy series was
started with Alec Baldwin, continued with Harrison Ford and will
now be murdered by Ben Affleck. I hope they decide to end the
series instead of miscasting the film so badly.

FANTASIA FANS CRY OUT
Disney recently pulled Fantasia from it's run in all IMAX theaters
nationwide and re-released the feature to regular theaters.
Afterwards, Disney was swamped by millions of letters from angry
fans, so Disney will re-release the movie back into IMAX theaters
starting in August and running until the end of the year. No word
now on the new street date for the IMAX version DVD.

STRANGE BUT TRUE
Chris Rock will star in The Six Billion Dollar Man, a remake of the
classic TV show. Lindsay Wagner and Lee Majors will have cameos in
the film which should start pre-production in about a month. The
film may be out as early as 2001.

IT'S MILLER TIME
HBO talk-show host and former Saturday Night Live funnyman Dennis
Miller has been tapped to join former pro quarterback Dan Fouts and
Al Michaels in the announcer's booth on ABC's popular Monday Night
Football telecasts. "I have a good trivia knowledge of football,
and I'll bring an odd, idiosyncratic list of quirky abilities," the
M&M's pitchman told reporters during a telephone press conference.
ABC earlier considered hiring Rush Limbaugh for the job but decided
to pass on the radio talk-show host.

THEY'LL BE THERE FOR YOU
Friends executive producers Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David
Crane have agreed to stay on with the hit NBC sitcom for another
two years. But the triumvirate is planning to break up after the
series ends, with Bright reportedly already considering new solo
projects.

NO MORE RAVEN?
The producers of the recently canceled syndicated series The Crow:
Stairway to Heaven say they're hoping to bring it back. Executive
producer Bryce Zabel tells Sci Fi Wire he's confident he can
persuade star Mark Dacascos (Eric Draven) to return if it is picked
up. Reruns of the show can be seen on Sci Fi Channel, Sundays at 8
p.m. starting July 23.

TIMOTHY HUTTON GETS MYSTERIOUS
A&E's preparing to launch a new detective series, Nero Wolfe,
starring Maury Chaykin and Timothy Hutton. The series, based on the
detective novels of Rex Stout, is set to debut in January 2001.
It's no mystery why A&E's going ahead with the project - the
TV-movie The Golden Spiders: A Nero Wolfe Mystery played to big
numbers on A&E last March.

BUFFY THE BIG SISTER
Sarah Michelle Gellar will take a "little sister" under her wing
this fall on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. A yet-to-be-cast actress
will play the role of Dawn, a 10- to 15-year-old with the ability
to channel evil spirits. The regular character apparently will also
take a liking to Xander.

HBO PASSES ON SPORTS NIGHT
HBO has opted not to pick up canceled series Sports Night from ABC.
Series creator/executive producer Aaron Sorkin has indicated he's
not interested in producing the critically acclaimed series for any
network other than HBO. In other words, the show's a goner.

ROBERT WAGNER SUES SPELLING
Actor Robert Wagner is suing Aaron Spelling Productions for $20
million for allegedly cheating him out of the profits on the
long-running Fox drama Beverly Hills, 90210. Wagner's suit, filed
in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, charges that Spelling
owes him based on a series development agreement dating back to
1973.

CYBILL YAKS IT UP
Cybill Shepherd is angling to replace Eleanor Mondale as host of
the upcoming syndicated series Men Are From Mars, Women Are From
Venus. Meanwhile, brace yourself for more TV talk shows: Caroline
Rhea (Sabrina, the Teenage Witch) and nationally syndicated radio
talk-show host Tom Leykis are reportedly in discussions to host
their own talk shows by 2001.

The World Is Not Enough (1999) (PG-13)

Bond (the increasingly at ease Brosnan) must race to defuse an
international power struggle with the world's oil supply hanging in
the balance. Marceau is the sultry Elektra King, the daughter of a
murdered oil tycoon whom Bond is assigned to protect. Carlye steps
into the standard villain role of Renard, who has a bullet lodged
in his brain rendering him unable to feel pain. Also featuring
Richards as nuclear weapons expert Dr. Christmas Jones. Desmond
Llewelyn returns as Q, along with appearances by Dench as M and
Samantha Bond as Moneypenny. Dangerous stunt work and exhilarating
action sequences make this a worthy addition to the OO7 series.
