CROCODILE DUNDEE 3
U.S.-based actor Paul Hogan will return home to Australia to make a
third movie about Outback swashbuckler Crocodile Dundee. The
Queensland state government said the filming of "Crocodile Dundee
III" would start in August at the Movie World Studios on the Gold
Coast, 55 miles south of Brisbane.

FRIEDKIN FIGHTS DECISION OVER 'EXORCIST' TRAILER
Director William Friedkin said he will appeal a decision made by
the Motion Picture Association of America to reject a new trailer
for the Warner Bros. re-release of his Oscar-winning 1973 horror
classic "The Exorcist," which contains 11 minutes of previously
unreleased footage. Friedkin said he was told the trailer was "too
intense." "Rejecting it on the grounds that it was too intense is
like rejecting it on the grounds that it's too funny," Friedkin
said.

WAHLBERG JOINS 'OCEAN'S ELEVEN'
Wahlberg has joined the cast of Steven Soderbergh's "Oceans Eleven"
remake, where he'll star alongside George Clooney, Bruce Willis,
Brad Pitt, and Julia Roberts. Wahlberg is also being considered for
Tim Burton's "Planet of the Apes" remake.

FIRST SWAYZE NOW FORD
Just two weeks after Patrick Swayze's troubled landing in Arizona,
Harrison Ford was swept off a Lincoln, Nebraska, runway Sunday
night after his plane caught a gust of wind and blew off course.
Federal Aviation Administration officials say the 57-year-old
action hero was flying his single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza from
New Jersey to Jackson, Wyoming, and he had planned a refueling stop
in Nebraska. But Ford lost control of the craft when a wind shear
hit his plane and knocked him off the runway. The wings on Ford's
plane were scratched up by the wobbly landing, but neither he nor
his passenger friend (fellow pilot Steve Stafford) were injured.

FOX ANNOUNCES OCTOBER RELEASE FOR 'DIGIMON'
FOX has announced it will release its "Digimon: The Movie" feature
film on October 6th of this year. The Digimon movie will link the
first two seasons of the Fox Kids Network series, about eight kids
and their friendly monsters defending the Digital World from a
gathering darkness.

STONE, HUSBAND ADOPT BABY BOY
Actress Sharon Stone and her journalist husband have adopted a baby
boy and named him Roan. Roan Joseph Bronstein, who was born to
Texas teenagers on May 22, is the first for Stone and her husband,
Phil Bronstein, executive editor of the San Francisco Examiner.
Stone, 42, has suffered through several miscarriages since she
married Bronstein, 49, in February 1998.

TOY STORY 2 RELEASE
Disney will release "Toy Story 2" on VHS and DVD Oct. 17 along with
the first DVD edition of the original "Toy Story." The premieres
will come just a week after the DVD release of two other major
hits, "Jurassic Park" and "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" Together,
the four pictures are expected to usher in an unprecedented period
of sales for the DVD format. Disney would not comment on or confirm
any of the information. It's believed that so-called sell sheets
informing retailers to start preparing for the releases went out
before the studio had finalized all the details of the elaborate
supplemental material being prepared for the two titles.

RIBISI IN 'HEAVEN'
Giovanni Ribisi is in final negotiations to star opposite Cate
Blanchett in Miramax Films' $11 million-budgeted drama "Heaven."
The project is slated to begin shooting in Italy and Germany this
month with director Tom Tykwer ("Run Lola Run") making his
English-language directorial debut.

SAM NEILL BACK TO JURASSIC PARK?
Word has it that actor Sam Neill may be making a second visit to
Jurassic Park for the franchise's upcoming third film. According to
sources, Neill is currently in talks to reprise his role of
paleontologist Alan Grant.

DAMON IN 'IDENTITY' NOT 'APES'?
Matt Damon is near a deal to star for director Doug Liman in
Universal's adaptation of the Robert Ludlum bestseller "The Bourne
Identity" The problem is the film is expected to begin production
this fall which would seem to put it in conflict with Planet of the
Apes if Damon even wants to do the Burton flick.

SPIDEY ON THE BIG SCREEN
Columbia Pictures is getting one step closer to finding its
Spider-Man. On Friday, the studio had several young actors don
tights to screen-test for director Sam Raimi, including "Felicity"
star Scott Speedman, Jay Rodan, who recently completed a
co-starring role in Kasi Lemmons' "Caveman's Valentine," and James
Franco, who is shooting the title role in TNT's James Dean biopic.
Also rumored to be in the mix is Tobey Maguire.

JACKSON GETS SIDEWALK STAR
Wearing all black and his signature Kangol hat, Samuel L. Jackson
was clearly the coolest cat on Hollywood Boulevard. About 500 fans
gathered curbside Friday to watch the star of "Shaft" unveil his
sidewalk star, the 2,195th dedicated along the famous Hollywood
Walk of Fame.

MELLENCAMP IN 'IMAGE'
Small Town rocker, John Mellencamp is set to play a crime
photographer who falls for a clairvoyant woman with ESP in the
murder/mystery thrill-ride, "After Image."

'DIETER' GETS DUMPED
After legal acrimony and a mediation attempt by Steven Spielberg,
Universal Pictures has pulled the plug on the Mike Myers comedy
feature "Dieter," based on a German pop existentialist character
popularized by Myers on "Saturday Night Live." The studio had
targeted "Dieter" to be its major summer comedy release in 2001.
Universal Friday shuttered preproduction on the $40 million-$50
million budgeted "Dieter" (a.k.a. "Sprockets"), affecting about 25
employees hired to work on the film. "Dieter" was slated to start
shooting in August under the direction of first-time feature helmer
Bo Welch.

GRAMMER'S MACBETH BOMBS
The latest Broadway production of Macbeth starring Frasier's Kelsey
Grammer will close on June 25 after just eight previews and 13
regular performances. The production opened to generally
unfavorable reviews and died a faster death than any play staged on
Broadway last season.

SPEED RACER'S MACH 5 RACE CAR UP FOR AUCTION
The popular 1960s cartoon character may not be real, but a replica
of his car, the Mach 5 is up for sale on Internet auction site eBay
thanks to Child Safety Network engineer Mark Towle and the
Community Benefit Alliance. The two-door roadster, made from
fiberglass and fully operational if not street legal, went on sale
on Monday and has seen 43 bids, including the latest offer of
$30,500. The auction ends June 29. Based on the famous cartoon Mach
5, Towle's full-scale race car has a 400-horsepower engine,
four-speed manual transmission, estimated top speed of 185 mph,
front saw-blade cutters, a special hydraulic jack system for
jumping as well as interactive voice responses to buttons on the
steering wheel. Project cost for the vehicle was more than
$350,000.

SAD NEWS: NANCY MARCHAND DIES
Those Sopranos have suffered a real loss. Nancy Marchand, who
portrayed the matriarch of the Mafia family in the HBO series, died
Sunday at her Connecticut home. The actress, who would have been 72
today, had long been battling lung cancer and emphysema. Our
condolences to family and friends.

ROSEANNE GETS THE AX
It looks as though Roseanne will join Donny and Marie Osmond on the
unemployment line. Just days after Donny & Marie bit the dust comes
word that Roseanne has also been canceled. According to the New
York Daily News, production on the syndicated talk show was halted
last week.

DANZA JOINS 'FAMILY LAW'
A year after earning an Emmy nomination for a guest stint on ABC's
courtroom drama "The Practice," sitcom stalwart Tony Danza is
joining the regular cast of the hourlong CBS series "Family Law."
Danza called the "Family Law" role "a tremendous opportunity" and
added, "I am looking forward to getting to do things I have never
done before."

ROBIN LEACHE REACHES SETTLEMENT
Former Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous host Robin Leach has
settled charges brought on by 12 states over fraudulent vacation
ads featuring his likeness, according to Reuters. Leach, who paid
no penalties and admitted no crime, says his image was used without
his permission. He's agreed to meet Federal Trade Commission rules
requiring spokespersons to check out the products they pitch.

DEUCE BIGALOW: MALE GIGOLO - Rob Schneider, Eddie Griffin
If you're into pointless comedy, see any Adam Sandler film, then
you'll love Deuce. Every once in a while I get in the mood for
really stupid movies. Movies that any normal person would tend to
ignore. Deuce is just such a flick. I've always liked Schneider
and the film is Executive Produced by Sandler, so I knew this would
fix the stupid-movie-of-the-month craving. Some of the scenes in
the film were truly funny and the story was pretty decent, but this
is one of those films where you really need to be in the mood for
dumb. Definitely not an every-day flick. The DVD features
storyboards, trailer, 5.1 sound, featurette, and anamorphic format
option.

THE GREEN MILE - Tom Hanks, Michael Clarke Duncan, Michael Jeter
I cried my eyes out in theaters over this film and watching it at
home was pretty much the same thing. The story is completely
beautiful and at the same time truly heart-wrenching. The casting
in the this film is perfect; a solid chain of powerful actors
without a single weak link. There are some scenes which may be
difficult for people to watch, but the movie as a whole is sublime.
The DVD features a behind-the-scenes documentary, menus, notes, a
trailer, and enhanced widescreen format.
