about $11 billion and has been seen with Bo Derek lately.

BROSNAN RECOVERING WELL

full recovery. The son of actor, Pierce Brosnan, was seriously
injured in a recent car accident which caused rumors to surface

son's side. The wedding will take place as planned.

THE BE-AFRAID ARTICLE OF THE WEEK

clothing line for Wal-Mart. The clothes, which will hit stores in
time for back-to-school shopping, are aimed at girls 6 to 14 years
old.

GOODBYE BASEBALLS SAYS CHARLIE SHEEN

blocks. It's being rumored that the star received over $15 million
from the sale. The sale featured items including the only existing
uniform worn by baseball hero TED WILLIAMS during his record
breaking 1941 season and a ball autographed by seven of the eight
players who conspired to throw the 1919 World Series. Sheen bought
the ball in 1992 for $93,000.

CAPTAIN VON TRAPP A VAMPIRE?

the Macromedia subsidiary. Shockwave executives declined to comment
on the deal. Shockwave has lined up an impressive stable of top
Hollywood talent - including James L. Brooks, Ben Stein, David
Lynch, Tim Burton and the "South Park" duo Matt Stone and Trey
Parker - each of whom are compensated with shares of Shockwave.

ROBIN HOOD GETS NEW TAKE
The Walt Disney Co. and producer Ricardo Mestres are putting a new
spin on the classic Robin Hood tale. The duo have hired
screenwriter Carter Blanchard to write "Marian and Robin," a
feature film that will center on a teen-age Maid Marion. The period
piece is a coming-of-age story about three childhood friends -
Marian, Robin and Sam (who later grows up to be the sheriff of
Nottingham). The new version will feature all the classic Robin
Hood characters, with Maid Marian being the mastermind behind the
concept of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor.

STARS GET ANIMATED
Susan Sarandon, Tobey Maguire and Michael Clarke Duncan will lend
their voices to the live-action-animated comedy feature "Like Cats
and Dogs" for Warner Bros. The project is set to start production
next month with plans for release in summer 2001. Larry Guterman
will direct the project, which chronicles the epic turf war between
cats and dogs. The story centers around a young, eager pup
(Maguire) who helps protect a scientist's vaccine for canine
allergies that the cats want to destroy. Sarandon will be heard as
a wise and worldly dog who looks out for the pup. Duncan was cast
as the voice of a big, friendly dog who isn't quite the military
operative he thinks he is.

Cameron Diaz has committed to join Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin
Scorsese's $90 million-budgeted drama "Gangs of New York". Filming
is slated to get under way in Rome in August. The long-in-the-works
"Gangs" is set during the era of Tammany Hall's peak of political
corruption in the 1840s and traces the history of Irish crime gangs
in New York.

ATMs TO SHOW MOVIE PREVIEWS
Wells Fargo Bank this week will start running movie previews, news
headlines and advertising at its ATMs. The previews - starting with
the Roman epic "Gladiator," which opens Friday - will play
continuously until a customer steps up and begins a transaction. As
the customer starts banking, advertising will pop up on the screen
and they can choose to get more information about a product. Sports
and news headlines from MSNBC will scroll across the bottom of the
screen.

HECHE AND WILLIAMS JOIN PROZAC

actresses have joined the cast of Prozac Nation, based on Elizabeth
Wurtzel's book. Heche will play a doctor who treats the narrator
(played by Christina Ricci), while Williams will play Ricci's best
friend.

HARRELSON SUES ALLSTATE
Actor Woody Harrelson is suing an insurance company he claims
wrongly stopped defending him against a lawsuit filed by two
tabloid photographers. Harrelson filed the breach-of-contract suit
against Allstate Corp. Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior
Court. The case stems from a 1996 federal civil rights suit filed
by the photographers after they scuffled with the actor at an
airport in Martha's Vineyard, Mass. Harrelson said he tried to grab
one man's camera after the man ignored his request not to
photograph his daughter. Allstate allegedly withdrew its defense of
Harrelson just before the lawsuit went to trial in 1998.

Benjamin Bratt is set to star as Sandra Bullock's love interest in
the comedy "Miss Congeniality." The Warner Bros. project, is slated
to go before the cameras next month with Donald Petrie at the helm.

fell apart. Dillon is instead starring in MGM's "Deuces Wild" for
director Scott Calvert.

HASSELHOFF'S NEW SERIES BEACHED
Bad news for David Hasselhoff: His new syndicated series,
Doublecross, has been shelved due to financial difficulties. The
show's distributor pulled the program after international financing
fell through.

SOUTH PARK STAYS WITH COMEDY CENTRAL
Trey Parker and Matt Stone have signed a three-year development
deal with Comedy Central, which will keep South Park alive and also
allow Parker and Stone to develop a new live-action series for the
cable network. The duo didn't give many details about the new
series, but they will produce 10 episodes of South Park a year for
the next three years.

CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?
A quarrel over transmission rights between Time Warner Inc. and
Walt Disney Co. left seven Disney-owned ABC stations off local
cable systems in several key cities. The only way for cable
customers to see ABC programs would be to rig their TVs to get ABC
the old-fashioned way, through an antenna. A total of 3.5 million
homes nationwide were affected. Cable customers were without ABC
programming in New York, Los Angeles, Houston, Toledo, Ohio,
Raleigh-Durham, N.C. and small parts of Time Warner systems in
Philadelphia and Fresno, Calif.

GARY COLEMAN SENATOR?
Gary Coleman has announced his intention to run for a California
senate seat. The 32-year old former "Diff'rent Strokes" star told
the Fox News Channel that he has not chosen a party affiliation,
but expressed a proclivity toward the independent ticket. He said
he chose California over New York because the Big Apple is "just
too far." Also, he wanted to avoid a competition with Hilary Rodham
Clinton in a state he knows little about.

PRICE IS RIGHT FOR BARKER
Bob Barker will be coming on down for another year. The 76-year-old
has signed on for another year of hosting CBS's The Price Is Right,
the longest-running game show in TV history.

HARRY CONNICK GOES TO THE PACIFIC
Singer/Actor Harry Connick Jr. has joined the cast of ABC's
upcoming remake of South Pacific, starring Glenn Close. Connick
will play Lt. Joe Cable, while Close is slated to play Nellie.

DUCHOVNY LEAVING X-FILES OFFICIALLY
Actor David Duchovny has spoken about his decision to quit his hit
TV show. Despite earning $500,000 per episode, the actor claims
X-Files makers Fox Television still owe him a fortune from
syndication rights, and he is quitting the show to contest the
dispute in court. Duchovny has not ruled out making another
X-Files movie, but he vows he will not shoot any more television
shows after the current series ends. He says, "I'll never, ever
return to the X-Files on TV. It may continue without me. But for me
it's the end - or it will be when my case comes to court."

LAW OF THE LAND
NBC has announced that the stalwart crime drama has been renewed
through 2005; the deal will make it the longest running police
drama in TV history. On a related note, NBC has picked up the L&O
spinoff Law & Order: Special Victims Unit through 2002.

WB STAYS FOXXY!
The WB network is close to picking up The Jamie Foxx Show for a
fifth season. The series, which also stars Garcelle Beauvais, will
probably be paired with The Steve Harvey Show next season. The fate
of fellow urban sitcom For Your Love is still undecided.

UPN LOSES THE BEAT
UPN has officially canceled The Beat after just six episodes. UPN
ordered 13 episodes of the Barry Levinson/Tom Fontana series, and
the fate of the missing seven episodes is up in the air.

BETTE BETS ON NAUGHTON
Bette Midler is looking for an actor to play her character's
husband on her namesake CBS pilot, Bette. Two-time Tony winner
James Naughton (City of Angels, Chicago and the '70s TV series
based on Planet of the Apes) has been tapped for the role. Also,
Naughton will reprise his role as Ally McBeal's father on the wacky
Fox comedy's season finale.

MACLACHLAN RETURNS TO TV
10 years after Twin Peaks premiered on ABC, star Kyle MacLachlan is
finally returning to series TV. MacLachlan is set for a
seven-episode stint on Sex and the City as Kristin Davis's new love
interest.

NBC'S "UNFORGETTABLE" PROJECT
Natalie Cole is getting the biopic treatment. NBC plans to air a
TV-movie based on the life of the popular singer by the end of the
year, and the award-winning singer is set to play herself. The
project will be timed to coincide with the upcoming release of
Cole's upcoming autobiography.

3. MOVIE REVIEW - DVD
================================================

Edited by Laurie

I didn't have a chance to pick up my reserved copies of Dogma and
Being John Malkovich this week, so I'll have them in here next
week. I did manage to get the ones below though.

Spaceballs - Mel Brooks, Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman
I can't help it. Even though this is one of the most stupid movies
ever made, I still love it. The take-offs on Star Wars and Planet
of the Apes make for some of the funniest comedy scenes ever and
Brooks is a genius with stupid humor. The DVD has just as many
laughs as the film itself. This DVD features the most original
interactive menu I've seen on any disc yet and the
behind-the-scenes featurette is great for this fan.

Hard Rain - Christain Slater, Morgan Freeman, Randy Quaid
I have to admit that I like Christain Slater films. I bought this
one for no particular reason other than Slater is in it. The film
is action packed, but I still think it would have been better if
the producers had gone with the original name - Flood. Anyway,
good way to spend an hour and a half if you're in the mood for a
little water and action. The DVD is a typical Paramount feature
with the only attraction being the original theatrical trailer.

X-Files: Fight the Future - David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson
I love X-Files and David Duchovny, so I had to replace my VHS copy
of this film for the DVD version. The movie does a good job of
being entertaining, even if you've never seen an episode of The
X-Files. The DVD has a great behind-the-scenes feature and THX
quality.

4. CELEBRITY PROFILE
