Hi Movie Fans!

I hope your Easter weekend was a good one. If you live in Arizona
or plan to visit, I recommend you try to stop by Lake Pleasant. I
went with my parents and sisters family for the weekend, we all
liked it very much and would have loved it more if we would have
remembered the sunblock!

Welcome to the new subscribers, and to those of you who have been
here for awhile, some since the beginning thanks for your loyalty.

Laurie passes this along - Sorry folks, I've been so busy catching
up from last week, that I didn't have time to check out any new
DVDs. I'll be sure to make up for that next week..lol...never
fear.

- Bob

Two Los Angeles residents sued Gwyneth Paltrow on Monday, claiming
that she caused them "permanent and serious" back and neck injuries
when a car she was driving crashed into their car a year ago in

in damages to the car and $8,000 in medical damages." Paltrow's

Angeles.

REX REED SHOPLIFTING CASE
A few weeks ago we reported that film critic Rex Reed had been
arrested for shoplifting well it seems he will have the shoplifting
charges against him dropped if he can stay out of trouble for the
next six months. A Manhattan Criminal Court judge ruled in the
matter Tuesday.

NEXT FOR DENZEL
Denzel Washington has committed to star in New Line Cinema's "John
Q," for director Nick Cassavetes. There is no start date set for
the project. "Q" is a story about a down-on-his-luck father
(Washington) whose son is in need of a heart transplant. The
father's insurance won't cover the operation so he decides to take
matters into his own hands by taking over the hospital's emergency
room until the doctors agree to operate.

WILLIS' 'FRIENDS' EARNINGS GOING TO CHARITY
There's more to the appearances of Bruce Willis on NBC's "Friends"
than a potential ratings boost. Willis, who agreed to be a guest
star on the series for three episodes during the May sweeps, is
donating his earnings from the show to five charities. The amount
of money wasn't disclosed. The American Foundation for AIDS
Research, AIDS Project Los Angeles, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric
AIDS Foundation, the Rape Treatment Center and UCLA Unicamp for
underprivileged children will share the money.

LUCAS SUES DR. DRE
Filmmaker George Lucas' Lucasfilm Ltd. has filed a copyright and
trademark infringement lawsuit against artist Dr. Dre, his
Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records. In the complaint,
filed April 14 in U.S. District Court in California, the production
company contends that the rapper used its trademarked "THX Deep
Note" sound to open his current album "Dr. Dre - 2001" without
Lucasfilm's permission. "THX Deep Note" is the sound accompanying
the THX logo that's displayed before films screened in THX
sound-equipped theaters. Lucasfilm, which claims it is the first
sound to be registered as a trademark, is seeking unspecified
damages.

'STAR WARS' DVD SOONER THAN EXPECTED?
George Lucas recently called Los Angeles radio station KROQ 106.7's
Kevin & Bean morning show, where he revealed he's not only finished
the script for Episode II, but that Industrial Light & Magic have
begun work on a DVD edition of Episode I. The enhanced edition is
not expected out until at least next year. In related news one

Moff Tarkin (Peter Cushing in Star Wars).

'BEYOND BORDERS' FOR RYAN?
Meg Ryan may star alongside Kevin Costner in Oliver Stone's "Beyond

going to play. Regardless of whether or not Ryan signs on, Stone
will indeed make this project before his remake of A Star is Born.

in the lead for.

MIRAMAX & SIGHTSOUND.COM

download on the Internet for non-exclusive pay-per-view
distribution. (The specific films are still to be determined.) The
websites will be operated by Miramax. SightSound.com will encode
and encrypt the selected films and process eCommerce transactions
for them. This means that Miramax will retain the majority of

happen when the group gets an opportunity to turn back the clock.

MICK JAGGER BACK TO FILM
Mick Jagger is rolling into a new career, screenwriting. The
flamboyant singer is teaming up with Martin Scorsese to write a
film script about a pop music star. "It's an insider's look at the

AHMAD RASHAD GETS REAL
NBC sportscaster Ahmad Rashad has been named the new host of the
syndicated series Real TV, starting this fall. Rashad replaces John
Daly as host of the caught-on-camera video series; he will continue
to host NBC's NBA Inside Stuff and provide Olympics coverage and
commentary.

WRESTLING IS TESTED
Mandatory drug testing for professional wrestlers? That's what New
York state Senator Thomas Libous is proposing. "Almost all other
major professional sports have adopted similar requirements for
legal participation," Libous says. World Wrestling Federation
honcho Vince McMahon is crying foul, however. "We are performers,
we are showmen, he'd be drug testing everyone on Broadway. He'd be
drug testing the circus." Seems like the WWF to me.

FOX RENEWS TITUS
Fox has renewed the controversial sitcom Titus for a second season.
The No. 4 network has ordered 13 additional episodes of the series,
which is based on the real-life experiences of stand-up comic
Christopher Titus. The series, which also stars Emmy winner Cynthia
Watros (Guiding Light), joins Fox's other surprise hit, Malcolm in
the Middle, as being renewed.

BOLDLY RETURNING
Star Trek: Voyager executive producer Rick Berman told the official
Star Trek Monthly magazine that fans should expect a 10th Star Trek
movie in 2001, according to SciFi Wire. Berman says he and
Paramount are now in talks with a writer who has never been
involved with Star Trek but is a "great fan" of the franchise.

CALL HER CYBIL LEE?
Recent reports are saying that Cybil Shepherd may be first in line
to replace the departing Kathie Lee Gifford on the Live! show.
Nothing confirmed yet.

BOY MEETS CANCELLATION
This season will be the last for Boy Meets World, the long-running
Ben Savage vehicle. Cory and Topanga contemplate moving to New York
in the one-hour series finale, which airs May 5.

NATHAN LANE'S NEW PET
Nathan Lane is set to return to series TV as the title character in
Teacher's Pet, an ABC Saturday morning cartoon debuting this fall.
Lane will provide the voice for Spot, a talking dog who disguises
himself as a boy and becomes a teacher's favorite student. The gig
marks Lane's return to a regular TV gig following the short-lived
NBC series Encore! Encore!

PHOTOGRAPHERS VS OPRAH IN COURT
Oprah Winfrey is likely to wind up in a courtroom battle with two
Chicago photographers. Freelance photographers Steve Green and Paul
Natkin claim Oprah illegally used 11 of their photographs for her
best-selling weight-loss book. The Chicago Tribune reports that
lawyers for Winfrey defend the use of the photos, countering that
Green and Natkin were employees of Oprah's TV show when they took
the pictures. Therefore, the photos belong to her.

****ODD BUT TRUE****

CAPTAIN TO THE MIC
If you've enjoyed those TV ads with singing Priceline pitchman
William Shatner, you'll be happy to know that the former Star Trek
captain is preparing to release a cover version of Gary Newman's
new wave pop single "Cars." Newman has said "I'm a Star Trek fan -
Captain Kirk doing one of your songs - what could be a better
accolade than that? That's brilliant."

TENOR MAY SING IN COURT
World-renowned tenor Luciano Pavarotti may be sent to trial on tax
fraud charges in Italy. The Italian government claims the opera
singer has evaded paying close to $5 million in taxes by citing a
Monte Carlo address as his primary residence.

STEVEN SEAGAL, CAUGHT IN THE WEB
Acting connoisseurs everywhere will be glad to know that Steven
Seagal has launched his own web site, stevenseagal.com, which will
be the only place you can buy his new video, Akido: The Path Beyond
Thought, before it hits stores later this year. The video features
never-before-seen footage of Seagal practicing martial arts. I've
seen it all now.
