the two Matrix sequels which will begin filming in about a month.

MIRAMAX GOING ALL OUT
Miramax has done some impressive signing lately. Tom Cruise and

Jonny Lee Miller in a modern version of Colditz. The casting costs
of the film are expected to be more than 60% of the budget.

LATINOS SALUTE ANTONIO BANDERAS
Antonio Banderas was honored with two American Latino Media Arts
Awards for portraying a positive Hispanic image. Banderas won for
his work in "The 13th Warrior," a mythological melodrama, and for
the first movie he directed, "Crazy In Alabama." Ricky Martin and
Jennifer Lopez were among other winners Sunday. The show was taped
for broadcast June 17 on ABC.

AUSTRALIA IS BEING OVERRUN BY VAMPIRES
Melbourne, Australia has been confirmed as the location for the
Interview with the Vampire sequel entitled Queen of the Damned.
Shooting will begin in August. The search for the new Lestat is
on.

POTTER COMING UP ROSIE
Rosie O'Donnell is currently in talks with director Chris Columbus
to play Mrs. Weasley in the new Harry Potter movie. Should've seen
this one coming.

DUNAWAY PLANS PIC WITH ALMODOVAR
Faye Dunaway plans to make a film with Spanish director Pedro
Almodovar. The actress revealed the news during a visit to the
inaugural International Film Festival of Las Palmas in the Canary
Islands, where her latest movie, "Stanley's Gig," opened the
official section last week.

A.I. LATEST CASTING

A.I. O'Connor will play Haley Joel Osment's mother in the film.

BIG SCREEN DEBUT?
"X Files" creator Chris Carter may make his debut as a film
director this year. It's being reported that Carter is close to
finalizing a deal with Dimension Films to direct "The World of Ted
Serios." The screenplay is based on the true story of a Chicago
bellboy in the '60s who had the ability to project his thoughts
onto unexposed film negatives. On the "X Files" front, a decision
is expected in the next few days as to whether Carter's sci-fi
series will continue on Fox.

COPPOLA MOVIE LAWSUIT DISMISSED
Francis Ford Coppola's lawsuit against the late Carl Sagan and
Warner Bros. for a share of "Contact" book and movie profits was
dismissed because it was filed too late. The 1996 lawsuit claimed
that Coppola came up with the idea in 1975 for a TV program called
"First Contact," about Earth's connection with extraterrestrials,
and that he had a contract with Sagan to develop a script. The
series never materialized. In 1985, Sagan published the book
"Contact." In 1995, Warner made a deal to produce the movie.
Coppola plans to appeal.

SHEEN GETS ADVICE
Charlie Sheen has signed on to star in an indie romantic comedy
called Good Advice. Production should wrap in time for Sheen to

ANNIE GET A STAR

Gifford or Susan Lucci would be cast to replace Bernadette Peters
when she leaves the Broadway production of Annie Get Your Gun. Now
it's reported that there aren't any stars being considered as of
yet. Peters leaves the show this fall.

HERE COME THE SWEEPS
NBC has announced their May sweeps guest list. John de Lancie of
Star Trek fame will guest star on The West Wing, Don Henley and
Jerry Hall will play themselves in Just Shoot Me, and of course,
Bruce Willis and Tom Selleck will join friends for a few weeks.

BARBRA AND WHOOPI TO LIFETIME
Barbra Streisand and Whoopi Goldberg will team up in a
lesbian-themed TV-movie for Lifetime entitled What Makes a Family.
The movie should be wrapped up in time for a 2001 TV premiere.

BIG STARS SIGN ON TO ABC
Mimi Rogers, Wendy Makkena, and Geena Davis have all signed on to
ABC's new sitcom Lost and Found. Davis will play a single New
Yorker who falls for a widower with two kids.

THE END OF SOUTH PARK???
Maybe. NBC are in attempts to lure South Park creators Trey Parker
and Matt Stone away from Comedy Central when their contract expires
at the end of the year. If they switch networks, South Park will
be canned.

NBC GIVES THE AXE
NBC canceled Battery Park after just four episodes. The reason
beyond the yank is that the show failed to get decent ratings.
Repeats of Frasier and Will & Grace will replace the sitcom.

BACK TO SCHOOL FOR CAREY
It's back to college for Drew Carey. The TV star has agreed to
deliver the keynote speech at Cleveland State University's
commencement on May 7. This won't be the first time that the
crew-cut Carey has donned a cap and gown. In 1996 he spoke to
dental graduates at Case Western Reserve University.

3. MOVIE REVIEW - DVD
================================================

Edited by Laurie

Because of everything I've been dealing with lately, I decided to
take 2 stress leave days off, sit on my couch and watch DVDs all
day...lol...I know..Pathetic, but true. I got to watch a lot of
flicks though.

The Insider - Al Pacino, Russell Crowe - This is the first time
I've seen this movie and I honestly don't understand why it was
nominated for so many Oscars. Crowe did a decent job, but I think
his nomination was to make up for overlooking him for L.A.
Confidential. The Insider was a way for me to spend a very long 2
and half hours. The plot bored me, but to be fair I think it was
the subject that just didn't interest me. The film is based on the
true story of the tobacco industry insider who came forward to say
that the cigarette industry is well aware of the fact that nicotine
is addictive and that cigarettes are a legal way of pushing this
drug on people. I guess seeing the story a thousand times on the
news destroyed any chance of the film being one I liked.

Three Kings - George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg - This is another one
where I can't figure out what all the fuss is about. The movie is
about 3 American soldiers at the end of the Gulf War who go after
gold that Iraq stole from Kuwait. These soldiers turn into
mercenary types by the end of the film. I just wasn't too thrilled
about this one. I really felt that the plot, acting, and direction
of the film could have been a lot better. But, I have to admit
that the special features on the DVD are darn cool. The disc
features interactive menus, trailers, DVDROM content,
documentaries, and commentary, the movie itself needs help.

For Love of the Game - Kevin Costner, Kelly Preston - I was a huge
Costner fan until Waterworld came along. I decided to give him
another chance and made the mistake of seeing The Postman. Then I
gave Tin Cup and Message in a Bottle a try and he managed to redeem
himself a little. Nevertheless, I wasn't eager to see this film. I
have to say that Costner has won me back. The film is the first to
follow one baseball game from start to finish and the way Costner's
character flashes from present to the past, is wonderfully done.
The love story which revolves around the game and the pitcher's
life, is sad at times, but manages to hold true. The DVD features
behind the scenes footage, deleted scenes, and a cute trivia game.

Chill Factor - Cuba Gooding Jr, Skeet Ulrich - I'm not ashamed to
admit that I really like this movie. I got the DVD because Cuba is
too funny and Skeet is a cutie, so I was really surprised to find
myself watching a good movie. The action is excellent and some of
the stunts made me cringe because I could feel their pain...lol.
Cuba never fails has being completely hysterical. The DVD is
pretty darn cool too. The entire DVD is interactive and features
bios, interviews, and behind the scenes.

Three to Tango - Matthew Perry, Neve Campbell, Dylan McDermott -
This one was really cute and charming. Perry plays a guy who falls
in love with the mistress of his boss. The twists and turns in the
film are really good and the comic relief provided by Oliver Platt
is perfect for the momentum of the love story. The DVD is nothing
spectacular just menus and trailers.

The Bachelor - Chris O'Donnell, Renee Zellweger - A charming
romantic comedy about a guy that has to get married immediately in
order to receive a $100 million inheritance, but his girlfriend of
three years keeps turning him down. A really cute movie with a
truly excellent line, "The best thing about me is you." awwwww.
Not a lot of goodies on the DVD, just DVDROM content and the
trailer.

End of Days - Arnold Schwarzenegger, Robin Tunney, Gabriel Byrne -
It's impossible to sit on the couch for two days and not watch an
Arnold movie. Days is a really excellent action flick about the
probable end of the world if Satan manages to beat Arnold. Just
and FYI, some scenes in the movie may be difficult to watch. The
DVD is awesome with DVDROM content, menus, bios, music videos,
documentaries, commentary, and trailers. Arnold never said "I'll
be back.", but it was still good.

4. CELEBRITY PROFILE
==========
Kim Basinger
================================================

Birth Name: Kim Basinger
Born: December 8, 1953 - Athens, Georgia, USA

Her agoraphobia could keep her housebound for up to six months at a
time, before she received therapy to combat it. As a schoolkid, she
suffered from crippling shyness preventing her from reading aloud
or answering questions in class. She studied ballet from age of 3
to mid-teens. Her father was an introspective, classically trained
trumpter, while mom was a flamboyant, extroverted housewife Kim
describes as "Lucy-like." Kim loved the movie My Fair Lady (1964)
and the "Loverly" song in it, which prompted her dad to encourage
her to enter local Junior Miss pageant and sing the song as her
"talent." She didn't win, but later did succeed in competition to
become the 'Breck (shampoo) Girl." This led to career as Ford
model, then to acting. Kim married actor husband Alec Baldwin in
1993.
