3. IN THE NEWS
=======================================================
STAR FOR FOXX
Oliver Stone will direct Jamie Foxx in a remake of A Star is Born.
The film is will be true to the three previous versions and have a
Romeo and Juliet type tragedy. Seems to strange to be true.
OUTLAWS THORNTON AND WILLIS
Director Barry Levinson has nabbed Bruce Willis and Billy Bob
Thornton to star in his next filmed entitled 'Outlaws'. The
romatic comedy starts shooting this September for MGM.
MOVIE TICKETS ON THE WEB
Tickets to the latest must-see movie could be just a couple of
mouse clicks away under a system being tested by Moviefone.com. The
new system allows customers to bypass the box office by allowing
them to buy tickets online with a credit card and print them out.
The tickets contain bar codes readable by scanners at the theater
door. Moviefone.com already has an Internet-based ticket ordering
system for the movies in several major cities. But while the
tickets can be reserved online, they still must be picked up at the
box office. Moviefone.com, operated by AOL Moviefone Inc. and
United Artists Theatres, began testing the new admission system in
Seattle this week and six other leading movie chains announced
Wednesday that they have similar Internet ventures in the works.
NUMBERS IS NOT UP
Heard several reports last week that the new John Travolta and Lisa
Kudrow film 'Numbers' had finished shooting. These reports didn't
make any sense because Travolta had said that he didn't want to
wrap the film until after the Oscars plus Kudrow had scheduling
problems last week because of the reshooting of an episode of
Friends. It's confirmed today that the film is almost done but
not quite. Plus the director Nora Ephron and Paramount could
always need a reshoot or two.
MORE TRAVOLTA
Travolta is currently thinking over MGM's Quiller Solitaire, based
on a spy novel series. MGM is thinking of making this a new
action-adventure franchise. How quickly they forget that they
already have the James Bond series. How many action-adventure-spy
franchises does one studio need. Travolta is also looking at
Travel Agent for Columbia, Steinbeck's Point of View, the Jimmy
Roselli biopic Standing Room Only, and the sequel to the
soon-to-be-released Battlefield Earth. Busy guy.
OTTOMAN MAY NOT HIT THEATERS
There's a good chance that because of the recent flop What Planet
Are You From? Columbia may not feel up to taking another risk by
releasing The Ottoman Empire starring Keanu Reeves. The studio may
decide to hold back the film until after Reeves blows away the box
office again in The Matrix 2.
SLATER TO GRACELAND
Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell will be joined by Christian Slater
in the new film 3000 Miles to Graceland about a group of ex-cons
who try to rob a casino during an Elvis convention. Production is
scheduled for June.
CHRIS PENN GETTING BUSY
Penn has signed to reprise his role as the ex-bomb salesman in Rush
Hour 2 with Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan which will begin shooting
this fall. Penn has also agreed to star in the indie film Kiss
Kiss Bang Bang with Stellan Skarsgard which begins filming March
27. Between the two films Penn will star and produce Microwave
Park which begins filming in June.
DAVID ARQUETTE SEES SPOT
Arquette has signed on to star in the Warner Brothers flick See
Spot Run replacing Martin Lawrence who turned the film down.
Shooting begins in June. David's wrestling pic, Ready To Rumble,
premieres May 5. The new hubby is also in talks for Boogie, King
of the Elves for the Henson Company and the Fox comedy entitled
Dude, Where's My Car?
TWINS NEWS
Antonio Sabato Jr. is set to star in The Twins and now it looks
like Jordanna Brewster and Charisma Carpenter will also join the
production.
THE ROCK 2
Michael Bay has turned down the script for The Rock 2. There can't
be many people left to approach for this film. The sequel has been
passed around Hollywood for the last 3 years, but still no takers.
HAIL TO THE CHIEF
Kevin Pollack has signed on to play the president in the new
thriller Deterrence. The president has to decide whether or not to
attack Baghdad after Iraq invades Kuwait for a second time.
Throughout the ordeal he's stuck in a diner in Colorado during a
snow storm.
PITT LOOKS AT NEW ROLES
Brad Pitt dropped out of From Hell so the lead now goes to Johnny
Depp. Pitt is now looking at Beach Music about a man who tries to
raise his daughter after her mother commits suicide. Pitt is also
looking at The Bourne Identity about who wakes up shot and can't
remember who he is.
MORE BAD NEWS FOR KNIGHT
Last week director F. Gary Gray quit work on Black Knight and now
the film's star, Chris Tucker, has also left the film. Fox is
saying no comment to the sudden defections. The shooting schedule
will be pushed back from May to July for recasting.
SIXTH IN 11TH
The Sixth Sense has moved past Home Alone's $285.5 million total to
claim 11th on the all-time highest grossing film list with $285.9
million. It'll be interesting to see what the film's total will be
after the DVD and VHS release later this month.
SHOWEST IN VEGAS
Every year studios, directors, stars, and the press gather to show
off their upcoming releases. Most films are presented in the forms
of teasers and trailers that show just enough to make it really
interesting. below is a listing of recent announcements presented
at the ShoWest this last week.
The Hollow Man - Elizabeth Shue and Kevin Bacon - Directed by Paul
Verhoeven. A sci-fi thriller with a $70 million dollar budget
where Bacon spends almost the entire film 100% transparent. The
film opens July 28th. (NOTE: See trailer section below for teaser)
Scary Movie - Keenan Ivory Wayans and Carmen Electra - Teen horror
flick spoof featuring scenes from Scream and I Know What You Did
Last Summer redone in a comic light.
Imposter - Gary Sinise and Vincent D'Onofrio - Futuristic flick
about an engineer living in a world attack by aliens is accused of
being one himself and goes on the run.
Highlander: Endgame - Christopher Lambert and Adrian Paul - Duncan
and Connor team up by joining the old Highlander flicks with the
new Highlander TV series. The biggest rumor revolving around the
plot is the Connor meets his match.
The Patriot - Mel Gibson - Gibson plays The Ghost, a hero in the
American Revolutionary War. Gibson said that shooting this film
was the most fun he's ever had standing up.
Vertical Limit - Chris O'Donnell and Scott Glenn - A man returns to
the mountain that killed his father in order to save his sister.
Godzilla 2000 - Straight from Japan, this film should hit the US
this summer.
Urban Legend: The Final Cut - The final installment of the Urban
series. A young female film maker shoots a movie about a killer
who uses urban legends as the theme of the killings, but then real
murders begin taking place.
The Sixth Day - Arnold Schwarzenegger - The near future with clones
for pets. Arnold is cloned somehow and replaced at home. Kind of
like Total Recall meets Twins.
Charlie's Angels - Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Bill Murray -
I think we all know what this is all about and how many people are
involved.
2001 --- releases
Final Fantasy - Animated
John Carpenter's Ghost of Mars
Muhammad Ali - Will Smith - Ali biopic
Spider Man - No other info yet
Memoirs of a Geisha - Possible Spielberg vehicle
Jumanji 2 - Robin Williams - no other info
Stuart Little 2 - Geena Davis - Christmas Release

devil who gives Fraser 7 wishes.
Me, Myself, and Irene - Jim Carrey - Plays a mild mannered
policeman who gets married and gets attacked by the dwarf limo
driver.
X-Men - Fox knows this will be the sink or swim vehicle for the
summer.
*****EXTRAS*****
William Baldwin and Chynna Phillips - welcomed a daughter Jameson
Feb 27th.
Dean Cain and ex-girlfriend Samantha Torres - are expecting. The
couple found out they were pregnant after they split up. They have
no plans of getting back together.
Vince Gill and Amy Grant got married on March 10th.

MORE WALLS FOR HBO
The recent premiere of If These Walls Could Talk 2 was such a
ratings grabber for HBO that the studio decided to greenlight a 3rd
installment. The show could be ready as early as 2001.
ABC AND BABS
Barbra Streisand and ABC are negotiations to bring back Mame.
Streisand is currently finishing a concert tour in Australia, but
when she comes home, she'll be reviewing the script and making her
final decision.
*****UPDATE*****
MIRREN, PENN, AND NICHOLSON PLEDGE
Last week we reported that Jack Nicholson would be directed by Sean
Penn in The Pledge. Looks like Helen Mirren has also joined the
cast.
OSCAR BALLOTS
In a surprizing move, the US Postal Service has given free postage
to the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences for the Oscar
ballots that were recently sent out. The USPS misdirected over
4,000 ballots to an empty warehouse. Due to the amazingly bad
press, the Post Office decided that free postage was the best way
to make amends. Am I the only one that thinks that there is a
screenwriter somewhere who thinks this would make a good movie??

8. RUMOR MILL
============
Check Out The Buzz
=====================================================
Heard a few rumors that there are sections of New Zealand currently
being scouted for Jurassic Park 3. Also reports are flying that
Helen Hunt, Elizabeth Shue, and Chris Klein have all signed for the
starring roles. Haven't heard anything concrete. Hank Azaria,
Helen Hunt's husband, said in a recent interview that he was
looking forward to an extended trip to New Zealand later this year
with his wife, but this is the most confirmed these rumors get.

William Forsythe, Sam McMurray, Frances McDormand, Randall "Tex"
Cobb, M. Emmet Walsh
A surreal, hyperactive farce in which a bumbling petty thief and

steal one from a furniture mogul who has just sired a set of
quintuplets. The joys of parenthood are soon marred, however, by
the difficulties of raising an infant on the run. The none-too
bright couple must flee across the Southwestern desert in order to
