Hi Movie Fans!
If you have been with us for awhile you may have noticed that
we've been running some celebrity profiles that have been seen in
previous newsletters. Although I believe there's nothing wrong
with that (we get new subscribers signing up daily who have never
seen them) I would much rather run new profiles and perhaps throw
in some older ones here and there.
To cut to the chase, I'm finding it very difficult to find
profiles that are well written and up-to-date and quite frankly I
do not have the time to research each celebrity and write the
profiles myself. I've currently been in contact with a few very
nice people who have given me permission to reprint profiles that
they have written, but that most likely will be a temporary
solution. We're trying our best to keep celebrity profiles as a
feature that can continue to be found in Movie Fever, but unless
something changes in the next few weeks we may have to
discontinue them. I'm open to any suggestions you may have
regarding this. I haven't thrown in the towel yet, but I wanted
keep you all posted on what's going on.

'FLETCH WON' LIVES
While talking to Cinescape, writer/director/actor Kevin Smith
spoke about his plans for the next "Fletch" feature film saying,
"[FLETCH WON] will happen, I just don't know if it will happen
absolutely next. I haven't started working on it because we were
working on JAY AND [SILENT] BOB [STRIKE BACK]." A big fan of the
series of novels that "Fletch" and "Fletch Lives" were loosely
based on Smith says, Yeah, we're going to stay close to the book.
We're going to do a real character with no disguises and s**t
like that. Yeah. It will be close to it. Did you read FLETCH WON?
I loved that book. I don't even think we're going to do a pass on
the script. I'm just going to hand everyone the book and
highlight the dialogue because it works perfectly. That's where I
learned to write dialogue...reading Gregory McDonald novels - the
whole FLETCH series. But that might very well be next. I haven't
really started working on it yet because of JAY AND SILENT BOB
STRIKE BACK, but that seems to be the next one."

Columnist Michael Fleming saying, "I finally had to ask myself,
'What would Joseph Von Sternberg do?' Why, he would wait for
Marlene Dietrich, and film history would thank him! So I'm going
to wait for Uma, she is my actress." The "Kill Bill" script is
completed, and pre-production is expected to start in January,
when Thurman's baby is due. The movie will begin shooting
sometime in May or June.

HELENA BONHAM CARTER TALKS 'APES'
While at the London premiere of the summer blockbuster "Planet of
the Apes," Helena Bonham Carter was asked if she would appear in
a sequel of the film. "I should never say never, I'd have to
think hard and they would have to pay me lots of money. I've
spent 240 hours of my life sitting in make-up. I'm not sure I
really want to do that again," she told reporters.

5. MOVIE REVIEW(s)
================================================
( *** S P O I L E R S A H E A D ***)
The Others (Rated PG-13)
Starring: Nicole Kidman, Fionnula Flanagan, Christopher
Eccleston, Eric Sykes, Elaine Cassidy.
Release Date: August 10, 2001
Review by Susan Granger
SSG Syndicate
http://www.susangranger.com
"No door is to be opened before the previous one is closed and
locked," instructs Grace (Nicole Kidman), as mistress of a
mysterious mansion on the remote British island of Jersey. It's
1945 and she's waiting for her husband (Christopher Eccleston) to
return from fighting the Germans in France in W.W.II. But the war
is over and she hasn't heard from him. Plus the servants have
left, departing in the middle of the night, only to be replaced
by three strangers who appear on her doorstep looking for work.
But it seems Mrs. Mills (Fionnula Flanagan), Mr. Tuttle (Eric
Sykes) and the mute Lydia (Elaine Cassidy) worked in the mansion,
years ago, for previous owners. "My children are allergic to
light," Grace continues. "The curtains and shutters must always
be drawn." Without electricity, they exist in almost total
darkness and within this macabre, claustrophobic atmosphere,
bizarre things start to happen. There are strange sounds and
ghoulish apparitions, indicating intruders, which terrify Grace
and her children (Alakina Mann, James Bentley) but, oddly, not
the servants. "Sooner or later, they will find you," Mrs. Mills
murmurs. "I don't like fantasies," the stressed-out Grace snaps,
relying, instead, on her devout Catholicism.
By Spanish writer/director/composer Alejandro Amenabar ("Open
Your Eyes"), this is a sinister, old-fashioned ghost story in
which nothing is as it seems. Suspense is created, not by special
effects, but by the rising tension and all-encompassing fog.
Resembling a young Grace Kelly, Nicole Kidman captures Kelly's
combination of icy volatility and vulnerability which made her
irresistible to Alfred Hitchcock.
On the Granger Movie Gauge of 1 to 10, "The Others" is a shivery,
spooky, scary 8, a suspenseful, brain-twisting chiller-thriller,
reminiscent of "The Sixth Sense."

6. CELEBRITY PROFILE
==========
KEVIN BACON
================================================
Birth Name: Kevin Bacon
Born: July 8, 1958 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
Kevin Bacon was born in Philadelphia the youngest to a large
close-knit family (dad was a city planner, mom a teacher and
liberal political activist). At the age of 17 he headed to New
York, he received stage training at Circle in the Square Theater
where he was one of the youngest students admitted. After years
of waiting tables and scrambling for small parts he won the role
in "National Lampoon's Animal House". Bacon earned his big screen
break in Barry Levinson's directorial film debut "Diner," in
which he portrays a rich kid with a drinking problem. He mostly
enjoyed his Broadway debut, "Slab Boys" where he teamed up with
the young and ambitious Sean Penn and Val Kilmer. He claimed his
way to stardom when he appeared as a hip teenager in "Footloose"
a kid from the other side of the tracks who shakes up a Bible
Belt community with his toe-tapping ways. He impressed audiences
with scattering virtuosity, and acting dynamic characters; a
romantic comedian in "She's Having A Baby" to a brutal killer in
Criminal Law opposite Gary Oldman. Bacon's career shows that he
has continually bounced from one extreme to another: as a crafty
marine attorney in "A Few Good Men" co-starring opposite Tom
Cruise, to a family hijacker in "The River Wild" opposite Meryl
Streep.
In 1995, he showed an ensemble performance in "Murder In the
First" a historical drama co-starring Christian Slater. Kevin was
also accredited for his animation role in "Balto Moving" along
with array of other major roles, Kevin also appeared in "Telling
Lies In America," "Wild Things" and "Stir Of Echoes." Kevin met
actress Kyra Sedwick while working on the set of American
Playhouse production, "Lemon Sky." The two were married in
September 1988 and have two children, Travis 11 and Sosie Ruth
Bacon 8. Kevin Bacon will next star in "Novocaine" due out later
this month.
