'STAR WARS: EPISODE II' TITLE ANNOUNCED
The official Star Wars website has announced the official title
of what will be the second episode in the series saga. What's it
called? "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones." The site
also posted up a brief synopsis of the film and here it is...
Ten years after the events of The Phantom Menace, not only has
the galaxy undergone significant change, but so have our familiar
heroes Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor), Padmé Amidala (Natalie
Portman) and Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) as they are
thrown together again for the first time since the Trade
Federation invasion of Naboo. Anakin has grown into the
accomplished Jedi apprentice of Obi-Wan, who himself has
transitioned from student to teacher. The two Jedi are assigned
to protect Padmé whose life is threatened by a faction of
political separatists. As relationships form and powerful forces
collide, these heroes face choices that will impact not only
their own fates, but the destiny of the Republic.

FRANKENHEIMER SET TO DIRECT NEXT 'EXORCIST'
Four-time Emmy winning director John Frankenheimer ("Reindeer
Games," "Ronin") has come aboard to helm the next installment of
the "Exorcist" franchise, a prequel that has yet to be titled.
The prequel traces the story of Father Merrin back to his first
encounter with the devil during missionary work in post-World War
II Africa. Production will begin in the spring in the United
States, England and Africa.
DISNEY GETS 'INDIANA JACKSON'
Disney has acquired the pitch called "Indiana Jackson" for an
action adventure film to be written by Tyger Williams ("Menace II
Society") as a starring vehicle for former Fugees member Pras.
Described by Variety as a hip-hop version of "Raiders of the Lost
Ark," the film follows A renowned archaeologist and his prized
pupil, who encounter high adventure in Ethiopia, where they are
attempting to resurrect the staff of Moses.

'WILD THINGS ON FAST TRACK AT UNI
According to Variety, Universal has put "Where the Wild Things
Are," a cartoon adaptation of Maurice Sendak's classic
children's book on the fast-tracked. Additionally, Tom Hanks will
likely contribute his voice to the film. Published in 1963,
"Where the Wild Things Are" is the story of Max, a mischievous
child who is punished by his parents when he will not stop
wearing a wolf costume to scare the neighbors. The child is sent
to bed without supper, and his imagination conjures up a forest
where he meets up with the wild things -- monsters who embrace
him as their king. Universal is eying a Thanksgiving 2004 or
summer 2005 release date for the film.
NO MARIAH IN CHRIS TUCKER FLICK
While talking to Chicago Sun-Times columnist Cindy Pearlman,
Chris Tucker, star of this weekend's box office winner, "Rush
Hour 2," has dropped plans to cast Mariah Carey as his co-star in
"00-Soul," a black version of the James Bond flick that Tucker
will produce. "I'm still developing the movie, but I'm not sure
if Mariah will be in it. I think we're casting someone else,"
said Tucker.
HOUNSON HEADED 'EAST OF HARLEM'
Djimon Hounsou ("Gladiator") has been tapped to star in the
romantic drama "East of Harlem," according to Variety. Hounsou
will play a troubled Harlem-based artist who befriends an Irish
immigrant who moves to Gotham with his wife and daughter to chase
his acting dream.
WARNER BROS PICKS UP 'KLEOPATRA'
Variety reports that Warner Bros. Pictures has struck a deal with
author Karen Essex to adapt her own two-part novel, "Kleopatra."
The first installment of the "Kleopatra'' epic opens when the
future queen is just 3 years old and ends after she has married
her half-brother and raised an army with her cousin and lover,
Archimedes. The second half, on which the bulk of the screenplay
is expected to be based, begins with the young queen in exile and
waiting for Julius Caesar, and ends with her death, the trade
reports.
'HALLOWEEN 8' DETAILS REVEALED
While promoting "American Pie 2," actor Thomas Ian Nicholas
revealed some pretty hefty details regarding the coming
"Halloween 8." The info would be considered Major Spoilers to
most, so I put the details up on Movie-Fever.com. IF YOUR
INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT MORE VISIT THE LINK BELOW. OTHERWISE,
MOVE ON. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

DEMME LOOKING TO HELM 'NAUTICA'
Ted Demme ("Blow") is in final negotiations to helm the thriller
"Nautica." The film is described as a character-driven project
that is a throwback to such thrillers as "Body Heat" and "Dead
Calm." The story takes place on a yacht in the Caribbean, where a
murder occurs and then is subsequently retold through the eyes of
three people.
SIGOURNEY WEAVER TALKS MORE 'ALIEN'S'
While talking to The London Sunday Times, Sigourney Weaver
expressed her enthusiasm for acting and even touched upon whether
or not she would do another "Alien" film. "I want to go on and
on," she says. "If they want to write a good script for another
Alien film and give me $20m, then fine. If it's more sex they
want, great. Another brilliant drama? Yes, please. If we want to
plan a trip to, say, Timbuktu, we can go. Even if I got pregnant
again at this age, I'd want the baby. I'm up for anything."

====================================
'BECKER' CAST RETURNS TO SET
In the last newsletter we reported that "Becker' cast members
Terry Farrell, Hattie Winston, Alex Desert, Shawnee Smith and
Saverio Guerra were no-shows at the series' first table read of
the season, although they all called in sick there were
indications that the actors hadn't renegotiated their salaries
since the show's debut and were looking to at least double their
paychecks to return. The actors did return on Thursday despite no
talks of an increase beyond their normal yearly raises. "There's
no resolution, but they're there (on set)," said Joel King, whose
Pakula/King & Associates -- along with Don Buchwald & Associates
represents the majority of the cast. "This needs to get resolved.
But there's really nothing more to say."
COMEDY CENTRAL GIVES 'BUSH' THE BOOT
Comedy Central has canceled its White House satire "That's My
Bush" after only eight half-hour episodes. Here's where this
piece gets weird. Variety reports that the creators of the sitcom
plan to transform the show into a big-screen feature, "George
Bush & the Secret of the Glass Tiger." In the movie, we're going
to turn him (George W. Bush played by Timothy Bottoms) into a
superhero who battles the enemies of the country, in this case
the Chinese," said Matt Stone, who created the series with Trey
Parker. "We want it to look like a John Woo action movie."
'BRADY BUNCH' ON 'THE WEAKEST LINK'
According to NBC, the cast of "The Brady Bunch" will appear on a
special edition of "The Weakest Link." Set to air in
mid-September, the "Weakest Link" episode will reunite the
original actors who played the six Brady kids, and their mother,
Carol, for the first
time on camera since 1980.
'EXTREME TEAM' AT ABC
ABC has greenlighted "Extreme Team," a two-hour action movie,
according to The Hollywood Reporter. Eric Mabius ("Cruel
Intentions"), Bai Ling ("Anna and the King"), Chris Pratt
("Cursed 3"), Paul Francis ("Pearl Harbor") and Elizabeth Lackey
("Flipper") have been cast as members of the National Security
Administration Extraction and Rescue Team, a select group of
intensely trained secret agents, all experts in extreme sports,
who are given the most dangerous of assignments.
ABC, USA STRIKE DEAL FOR 'MUMMY' AND 'FURIOUS'
Under a pact between Universal, ABC and USA, ABC will get first
crack at The Mummy Returns" and "The Fast and the Furious." in
early 2004. The broadcast network will have three runs of each
movie over 18 months, after which the movies will go to USA for
multiple runs during the second part of the window, which will be
44 months. Sources estimated the deal to be worth about $50
million, with the broadcast part pegged at about $30 million.
