Hi Movie Fans!
The Monsoon's were in high gear last week. On Wednesday we had
what the news called a "microburst." It tore through here
uprooting trees, knocking over telephone poles and power lines
and even demolishing a few trailers, making them look like one
big pile of rubble. Unfortunately we weren't spared from any
damage. One of our trees in the front yard was beat up pretty
bad. We spent a good deal of time getting the branches piled up
in the yard out of the way, and the ones that weren't totally
ripped from the tree had to be cut off. Our neighbors weren't as
lucky, they had four full grown trees that were blown over, roots
and all.
I know this is nothing knew to those of you in the Midwest or
coastal states having to deal with tornadoes and hurricanes, but
I have never experienced anything like this in my life! Pretty
scary to say the least, but I'm alive and I'm not aware of anyone
being hurt as a result of all this...Phhheww!
One last thing before we move on..I've heard that some AOL users
have not been receiving email from YahooGroups, which is where
this list is hosted. If any of you know someone who is an AOL
user subscribed to Movie Fever, and is not receiving the
newsletter -- please direct them to the following article. It
explains what the problem is better than I ever could.

BOYLE REPLACES JANSSEN IN 'MIB2'
Lara Flynn Boyle, star of ABC's "The Practice" has been tapped as
the lead villainess in Columbia Pictures' "Men in Black 2." Boyle
will replace Famke Janssen, who had signed to star in the role
but dropped out of the project because of an illness in the
family.
JET LI, CHAN TO TEAM ON FILM
Jackie Chan and Jet Li, will join forces for the first time to
develop a project for Revolution Studios, a studio spokeswoman
said on Thursday. The two agreed to develop the project with
California-based Revolution, and they hope the two will star in
the movie, she said. Filming could start toward the end of next
year. There was no word on what the film would entail, but it
will most likely be an action film.
SAM NEILL TALKS 'JURASSIC 4'
While talking to Chicago Sun-Times columnist Cindy Pearlman, Sam
Neill (Dr. Alan Grant) was asked if he would return for a fourth
installement of "Jurassic Park." "I'd never say never again,"
Neill says. "I'm very happy with this movie. But my thoughts for
'Jurassic Park 4' is that we eliminate one certain aspect of
American culture that bothers me. Let the T-Rex stomp on all
Wal-Marts! No one would mind the dinosaurs attacking stores that
brought the downfall of downtown America."
'THE GOONIES 2' RAMPING UP
Director Richard Donner told The Associated Press that two
writers are at work on the sequel and filming will begin within
six months to a year and "Everybody's coming back".

on directing an untitled project for Miramax Films billed as a
sequel to his 1989 debut feature "sex, lies, and videotape." No

November.
ICE CUBE, KNOXVILLE IN 'BIG TICKET'
Rapper-actor Ice Cube and MTV's "Jackass" star Johnny Knoxville

Pictures. The film, is described by The Hollywood Reporter as a
docudrama-style, real-time action film about a prison escapee
(Ice Cube) who takes hostage a business executive (Knoxville)
obsessed with car chases. The pair end up on a high-speed chase
with police around Los Angeles as the situation spins out of
control.
MICHAEL JACKSON 'THE ENDANGERED ONE'
E! Online reports that Michael Jackson has agreed to star in and
produce "The Way of the Unicorn, The Endangered One," a $75
million animated tale due to start pre-production next month. The
king of pop will assume the voice of an orphan named Sailor who
teams up with a lonely rich girl and a band of endangered animals
on a quest to save Mother Earth.
DIGGS NEGOTIATING FOR 'SUGAR'
Taye Diggs ("How Stella Got Her Groove Back") is in negotiations

The film is described as a black "When Harry Met Sally."
FAVREAU TO PEN 'PORN'
Jon Favreau, writer/director and star of "Made," has signed on to

directing. According to Variety, the Universal Pictures project
concerns an ordinary man who innocently falls in love with an
adult film star.
DISNEY GETS 'BOYS TOWN'
The Walt Disney Co. has acquired the rights to the comedy pitch
"Boys Town." Writers Jordan Budde and Robert Ellsworth will pen
the project, about a redneck agent who must go undercover as a
gay man in West Hollywood to solve a murder. Lauren Lloyd
("Freddy Got Fingered") is producing.
WB'S MURPHY TO HELM 'HEPBURN'
Executive producer of the WB Network's "Popular," Ryan Murphy is
set to direct "Why Can't I Be Audrey Hepburn." In 1997 Steven
Spielberg was set to produce the film with Tea Leoni starring,
but it never worked out. Over the years such actresses as Ashley
Judd, Renee Zellweger, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Toni Collette
showed interest in the film, which is a romantic comedy that
centers on a woman who moves from Ohio to Los Angeles and quickly
has it all -- a job at a local news station and a fiance. In the
course of one week, she is left at the altar and loses her job.
In trying to rebuild her life, she turns to the best man from her
wedding, who shares her love of Audrey Hepburn movies. However,
she soon finds out that he only uses facts about Hepburn to pick
up women.

magazine's report on Monday that the actors are expecting a baby,
and the report's writer blamed mistranslation. In related news,

second time in five years he has "rescued" one of the statuettes
for posterity. After making the purchase by a telephone bid,
Spielberg returned the statuette to the Academy of Motion Picture
Arts and Sciences. In December 1996, Spielberg paid $607,500 at
auction for Clark Gable's best actor Oscar for "It Happened One
Night" and presented it to the academy to protect it from further
commercial exploitation.
METALLICA'S HETFIELD IN REHAB
Metallica lead singer and guitarist James Hetfield has entered a

=======================================================
L.A. Confidential (1997) (R)
Director Curtis Hanson captures the duality of 1950s Los Angeles
in this striking film noir adaptation of James Ellroy's novel.
The City of Angels might be sunny, inviting, and glamorous to the
rest of the world, but it's also filled with corrupt cops,
elegant hookers, murder cover-ups, and manipulative paparazzi,
all of which are just the tip of the iceberg. It's impossible to
know exactly who's trustworthy and who's not as three detectives
(Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce) each use their own
tactics to investigate a coffee-shop massacre.
CAST:
Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Kim Basinger, Danny
DeVito, James Cromwell, David Strathairn.
