'BLACK KNIGHT' RELEASE DATE CHANGED
Twentieth Century Fox has changed the release date for its Martin
Lawrence comedy "Black Knight" to Nov. 21. The picture, which is
currently in post production, was expected to hit theaters in
2002. According to Variety, Lawrence plays a con man and medieval
theme park worker named Jamal Walker. After a bizarre moat
accident, Walker finds himself in 14th century England, where he
uses his street smarts to help a down-and-out knight and a
beautiful woman defeat an evil king.
MELISSA GILBERT TO RUN FOR SAG PRESIDENT
Melissa Gilbert, the actress best known to fans as the wholesome
Laura Ingalls from the 1970s television series "Little House on
the Prairie," said on Wednesday she will run for president of the
nation's largest actors union. Gilbert made her decision to run
after being approached by several board members of the Screen
Actors Guild. "I have been a working member of this union since I
was two years old," she said in a statement. "I have seen
first-hand what this wonderful union of ours can accomplish when
its forces are joined."
WITHERSPOON ATTACHED TO 'HONEY WEST'
Miramax Films will produce a big-screen version of the 1960s
television detective series "Honey West" with Reese Witherspoon
attached to star. Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, who
wrote "Legally Blonde," will pen the script, based on a series of
pulp novels written by Skip Fickling about a female private
investigator named Honey West. The feature film version will be
set in present day and will be a comic-action picture in the vein
of "Foul Play."
'KILL BILL' DELAYED?
Word of Uma Thurman's surprise pregnancy may place Quentin
Tarantino and Miramax in a difficult position. The actress was
due to begin working with her "Pulp Fiction" director on "Kill
Bill." According to Variety, Tarantino has two decisions - either
recast his leading actress and adapt the script to fit someone
new, or wait until Thurman has delivered her baby and is ready to
get back to work. The latter could set the film back as much as
a year. Although recasting the role is said to be an option,
Miramax spokesman Hiltzik told Variety the discussion was mere
speculation and that "we are not recasting the role".
McCULLOCH TO HELM 'EVE' REMAKE
Bruce McCulloch ("Dog Park") is in negotiations to helm a remake

an elite drug task force whose main purpose was to infiltrate and
dismantle the powerful Cali drug cartel. Against policy, he
employed the help of an internationally blacklisted informant,
and the relationship transformed him into the ultimate undercover
operative. After learning the ropes, Speziale discovered that his
informant was betraying him all along.
REVOLUTION GETS 'CHUPACABRA'
Revolution Studios has inked a deal with scribe Ravel
Centeno-Rodriguez ("The Thirteenth Floor") to write "Bloodlust:
Legend of the Chupacabra." According to Variety, the chupacabra
(literally, "goat-sucker") is part of Puerto Rican folklore,
stemming from incidents in which goats were found with their
blood drained and two peculiar puncture marks on their necks.
Reports of animals dying inexplicably in Puerto Rico have
surfaced periodically since the 1970s.

director for the film, which will begin production in Los Angeles
on July 23.

'TENDER-HEARTED' SPLIT SAYS JULIA ROBERTS
On Tuesday Julia Roberts spoke publicly for the first time about
her split with Benjamin Bratt, while on "The Late Show with David
Letterman." "It has come to a kind and tender-hearted end and my
only regret is that it seems that in some odd form...the media
can't accept that it is tender-hearted and kind," Roberts said.
"It (the media) has to make it messy. It has to be all about me
going out with George Clooney, a kind, lovely man but not my
boyfriend," she said.
HARRISON FORD RESCUES BOY SCOUT
On Tuesday Harrison Ford came to the aid of a missing Utah Boy
Scout who had accidentally strayed into the Wyoming wilderness.
E! Online reports that Ford flew his trusty Bell 407 helicopter
into the backcountry of Yellowstone National Park and, at
approximately 8:30 a.m., spotted 13-year-old Cody Clawson,
looking miserable and soaked to the bone after having spent a
cold, rainy night alone in the woods.
Ford, a part-time resident of nearby Jackson, Wyoming, swooped
down and landed the chopper, picked the boy up and airlifted him
back to civilization.

BARRYMORE, GREEN GET MARRIED
This time, they say it's for real. "Charlie's Angels" star Drew
Barrymore formally married actor-comedian Tom Green in a small
outdoor ceremony last weekend, her publicist said Tuesday. "It
was a more formal ceremony, something they wanted to do for close
friends and family," said Eddie Michaels. "It was a beautiful,
low-key event. They wanted to keep everything as private as
possible." The couple has routinely joked about being married on
talk shows and during other public appearances in recent months.

'SAPRANOS' LEAD EMMY FIELD, 'WEST WING' A CLOSE SECOND
Mafia drama "The Sopranos" claimed 22 Emmy nominations on
Thursday to 18 nods for White House show "The West Wing,"
setting up a rematch of last year's heated rivalry for
television's top awards. The Emmy Awards will be broadcast
from Los Angeles on CBS on Sept. 16.

'BIG BROTHER' CONTESTANT EXPELLED
A contestant on the CBS reality series "Big Brother 2" was kicked
off the show on Wednesday after he put a knife to the neck of a
woman "house guest." The contestant, known only to viewers as
Justin, the muscular 26-year-old bartender and office worker from
Bayonne, New Jersey, was expelled a short time after the 12:30
a.m. incident involving fellow player Krista. According to a CBS
account taken from a transcript of the encounter between Justin
and Krista, the two were intermittently kissing and talking in
the kitchen of the house when Justin picked up a large knife and
put it to her throat and said, "Wait, hang on. I'm going to slash
your throat. Would you get mad if I killed you?" Without
appearing to react, Krista replied, "No, but I want some water."
Moments later, he repeated the question, "No, seriously, would
you get mad if I killed you?" Justin then put the knife away, the
two kissed again and parted company. "This certainly wasn't a
stunt that was staged by anyone," the shows producer said. "It
was a spontaneous event that Justin thought would be funny, and
it wasn't."
'MILLIONAIRE' CONTESTANT SUES SHOW
Reuters reports that a former contestant on the ABC TV game show
"Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" has sued the show's producers and
the network challenging a $16,000 question that he was told he
answered incorrectly. In a suit filed on Tuesday in Los Angeles
Superior Court, Richard Rosner claims the correct answer to the
question, "What capital city is located at the highest altitude
above sea level?" was not among the four choices he was given.
Rosner seeks to resume play on the show at the level he was at
when eliminated a year ago, his attorney, Rene Tovar said.
Otherwise, he plans to seek $1 million in damages, Tovar said.
'SURVIVOR' PIG KILL WOES CONTINUE
In an effort to determine to see if Kucha tribesman Michael
Skupin violated the country's animal-cruelty laws by killing a
pig on the show, Australia's leading animal-rights group is
demanding CBS turn over unedited footage from "Survivor: The
Australian Outback." "Once we've obtained it we will view it with
our solicitors to determine whether or not an actual offense has
been committed," RSPCA chief inspector Bryon Hall tells the
British entertainment Website Ananova. "If we believe there's
been an offense committed then it's likely the offender will be
charged."

( *** N O S P O I L E R S ***)
Cats & Dogs (Rated PG)
Starring: Jeff Goldblum, Elizabeth Perkins, Alexander Pollock,
Alec Baldwin, Tobey Maguire.
Release Date: July 4, 2001
Review by Susan Granger
SSG Syndicate
http://www.susangranger.com
Unbeknownst to us humans, a struggle for control of our planet
has been waged between cats and dogs for centuries. And the
balance of power is tipping. Professor Brody (Jeff Goldblum) is
working on a medication for people who are allergic to dogs,
causing an edgy, maniacal white Persian cat, Mr. Tinkles (Sean
Hayes), and his reluctant henchcat Calico (Jon Lovitz) to declare
war, targeting the Brody home, including Mrs. Brody (Elizabeth
Perkins) and their 11 year-old son Scott (Alexander Pollock) as
their newly adopted pocket beagle, Lou (Tobey Maguire), becomes
pivotal in the canine counter-spy network. Working to prevent a
cat-astrophe are Butch (Alec Baldwin), a jaded Anatolian
shepherd; Ivy (Susan Sarandon), a wise Saluki hound; Peek (Joe
Pantoliano), a small Chinese Crested who's a computer whiz; Sam
(Michael Clarke Duncan), a bumbling Old English sheepdog; and
Mastiff (Charlton Heston) in charge of Central Dog Command.
Their adversaries include a secret agent known as The Russian,
along with a team of Devon Rexes as Ninja cats, armed with knives
and grenades, and 6700 "infected" mice. And it all leads up to a
confrontation in Mr. Mason's Flocking Factory, filled with
industrial-size tree-flockers, plus snowmen, Christmas trees.
Despite the ad copy, writers Glenn Ficarra & John Recqua don't
allow you to "root for" pet rivals, since they stack the doggone
deck against the sneaky felines. And director Lawrence Gutterman,
working with renowned animal trainer Boone Narr, is far more
concerned about seamlessly combining live-action with puppetry
and CGI.
On the Granger Movie Gauge of 1 to 10, "Cats & Dogs" is a
purr-snickety 6. For a matinee, it's frisky, fanciful,
furr-ocious family fun!

6. CELEBRITY PROFILE
==========
CLAIRE DANES
================================================
Birth Name: Claire Catherine Danes
Born: April 12, 1979 - New York, New York
You probably would never expect 22 year old talented actress
Claire Danes to act like most of her Yale classmates. She eats
junk food she worries about her schoolwork and obsessively
E-mails her long distance boyfriend. She is adjusting to wearing
sneakers something she has never done before, it may not seem
like a challenge to most students but it's something that she
worried about - she does not want to become a sloppy gross mess.
Danes is not just a typical student she reportedly pulled in $3
million a picture. Played Juliet to Leonardo DiCaprio's Romeo on
screen, despite her academic responsibilities Danes has also
found time to promote the movies "The Mod Squad" and "Brokedown
Palace" in the spring of 1998. Film producer Steven Spielberg
described Danes as one of the most exciting actress' to debut in
10 years. At the age of 10 she signed for the prestigious lee
strasberg theater Institute. And at 12 she turned down a role in
a soap opera, she did not want to leave prints on her acting
style. She also declined her first movie offer in "Schindler's
List" because schooling would not be provided on location. All of
which makes her sound poised.
