Hi Movie Fans!

I think it's safe to say that there won't be a second newsletter
this week! It's that time of the year when we are hitting the
100's here in the desert. Among other off-line things that have
required my attention, I spent the last few days getting my Mom's
pool up and running. They are very nice to have, but can be a
major pain to take care of at times! Specially, when everybody
looks to you for answers.

Anyhow, I would like to wish my parents a very happy anniversary
and a happy birthday to my Dad! (yes they were married on his
birthday) -- I hope there are many more to come for the both of
you. A very big congrat's to my niece Tori for graduating 1st
grade. We are all proud of you! Last but not least on my list of
congrat's and happiness, those of you who will be celebrating
Memorial Day this weekend, be safe, have a happy one and remember
those who have sacrificed their lives, so that we can enjoy the
things we all too often take for granted.

REVOLUTION NABS 'HOGAN'S HEROES'
Word has it that Revolution Studios will now be bringing "Hogan's
Heroes" to the big screen. The film's rights were previously held
by the recently expired Destination Films. At one time, Mel
Gibson had been mulling the project as a starring vehicle that
would have been produced under his Icon production banner, but
that fell through.

'AMERICAN PSYCHO' AUTHOR SLAMS SEQUEL
In an article from the New York Post (via Cinescape Online),
American Psycho author Brett Easton Ellis spoke of the "American
Psycho 2" project, which will be a black comedy focusing on a
female college student (Mila Kunis) who becomes a killer due to
the shock and trauma of almost being killed by the first film's
Patrick Bateman. Ellis declares, "Serial killers are driven by
testosterone, or maybe it is our culture that turns men into
Killers. I don't see how American Psycho II can star a woman and
still be plausible."

ODED FEHR TALKS 'MUMMY 3'
Recently the Popcorn.co.uk site tracked down "Mummy star Oded
Fehr to discuss what he thought of a third movie in the
franchise. Fehr revealed that Universal Pictures is considering
another film, but that "they're taking their time." The actor
goes on to say he reckons a third film would have to be very
different from the first two in order to succeed, commenting "I
don't think we can continue with what we've done." When asked if
he would return Fehr said, "It all depends on how the script is.
I tell you if Steve Sommers does a third one it would be very
difficult for me to say no."

SEGAL EYEING 'STARCHILD'
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peter Segal ("Nutty
Professor II: The Klumps") is in negotiations to direct Paramount
Pictures-based Icon Prods.' sci-fi comedy "StarChild," which is
being developed as a potential starring vehicle for Tim Allen.
The film will tell of a socially challenged CIA agent who must
help a friendly alien return to his planet before an
interplanetary war erupts on Earth.

IN LIGHT OF 'SHREK' COMES DREAMWORKS' 'SPIRIT'
E! Online's Anderson Jones reports that DreamWorks' animation
teams are putting the finishing touches on its next ambitious
project, "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron." While talking to
Jones, DW Jeffrey Katzenberg said, "Inasmuch as I hope Shrek
pushed the boundaries to a new place in computer animation, it's
our hope that Spirit will do the same for traditional animation.
To me, that's when you can do animation at its greatest, when you
do it through make-believe characters or animals." "Spirit" will
tell the story a wild Mustang stallion in the mythic American
west of the 1800s. Though they are the focus of the film's story,
the horses don't talk in the film... but there is narration.

CUMMING IN 'SPY KIDS 2'
According to the Popcorn.co.uk site, Alan Cumming has confirmed
that he will be appearing in the sequel to Robert Rodriguez' "Spy
Kids." However, Cumming is only expected to be making a cameo
appearance.

ORIGINAL ACQUIRES 'HUSBAND'
2K Media/Original Voices Prods. has picked up screenwriters Mimi
Hare and Clare Naylor's romantic comedy spec script "Accidental
Husband," with Uma Thurman attached to star. According to The
Hollywood Reporter, the film follows an engaged female
psychologist who, while attempting to register at the marriage
license bureau, finds out she is already married, according to
their records. Embarking on a search for her alleged husband, she
not only finds him but falls in love with him only to find out
that things are not what they seem.

'SUSPICION' REMAKE IN THE WORKS
Dimension Films and RKO Pictures will co-produce a remake of the
1941 Alfred Hitchcock suspense thriller "Suspicion." Based on
Francis Iles' novel "Before the Fact," "Suspicion" originally
starred Cary Grant and Joan Fontaine in the story of a reserved
young woman who marries a man after a brief whirlwind romance but
begins to suspect that he is trying to kill her for her money.

'MOBY DICK' MOVING FORWARD
Looks like helmer Brian Helgeland wasn't kidding when he said he
would like to do a remake of "Moby Dick" and use the cast of "A
Knight's Tale." While talking to EW Online, the helmer revealed
his plans for the project, saying, "I just finished the script.
I'm hoping to do it in the fall or early winter. Basically, [I'm
trying] to do a cast sequel with Paul Bettany ["Tale"'s Geoffrey
Chaucer] as Captain Ahab and Heath as Ishmael." A rep for Heath
Ledger says the actor has yet to commit.

'QUAKE' CREATOR, DIMENSION STRIKE DEAL
Variety reports that American McGee, creator of the Doom and
Quake vidgame franchise, has signed a first-look and overall
production deal with Dimension Films. Recently Dimension picked
up the rights to McGee's Alice game, which is a gothic horror
take on the classic Alice in Wonderland story, which will be
directed by Wes Craven.

HUNT TO STAR IN 'STOLEN SUMMER'
Bonnie Hunt will star as the female lead in "Stolen Summer" for
first-time director Pete Jones. The film, which is being produced
by Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Chris Moore tells the story of an
Irish Catholic husband and wife (Aidan Quinn and Hunt) whose
young son defies them to help a Jewish friend dying of leukemia
get into heaven. Max Weinberg, Kevin Pollak and Brian Dennehy
also star.

COURTNEY LOVE MISCARRIES
According to the New York Daily News, Courtney Love suffered a
miscarriage last week. Apparently she had been bleeding for
several days while working on the film "24 Hours" in Vancouver
and the films director Luis Mandoki sent her to the hospital.
There is no word who the father might have been. Love is due back
on the set this week where she costars with Kevin Bacon and
Charlize Theron. {We wish Courtney the best.}

JENNIFER LOPEZ VOTED WORLD'S SEXIEST
Jennifer Lopez was voted the sexiest woman in the world in a poll
conducted by a British men's magazine FHM. This was her second
time nabbing the title. Rachel Stevens of Britpop group S Club 7
was runner-up while American pop star Britney Spears was third.
Rounding out the top ten were British television presenter Kelly
Brook, American actresses Denise Richardson, Carmen Electra and
Alyson Hannigan, their Mexican counterpart Salma Hayak, MTV VJ
Cat Deely and South African actress Charlize Theron.

BRITNEY SPEARS VIDEO GAME
California immersive technology company Enroute Inc. announced on
Thursday it was developing an interactive video DVD called
"Experience Britney" for use on a range of video game consoles.
Enroute Inc. co-founder Paul Cha said the DVD would use 360
degree FirstPerson technology containing footage of Spears'
latest world concert tour that allows users to control where and
what to watch on a wrap-around landscape. It will also allow fans
to go backstage and will include games.

CELINE DION COMING BACK
Celine Dion's hiatus from the music business is over. The Epic
Records Group artist has accepted a three-year contract to
perform at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas starting in March 2003
and is in the studio recording a new album.

UPN PICKS UP 'ROSWELL'
According to a number of sources, UPN has picked up the "Roswell"
TV series, which was quietly cancelled by the WB Network. The
series will be placed in the UPN schedule right after "Buffy the
Vampire Slayer" on Tuesday nights.

PAX TELEVISION READY FOR 'BONANZA' PREQUEL
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pax Television is headed
back to "The Ponderosa" in the fall. Pax said Wednesday at its
upfront presentation in New York that it has greenlighted a
prequel to NBC's long-running western drama "Bonanza."
"Ponderosa," created by "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman's" Beth
Sullivan and executive produced by "Bonanza" creator David
Dortort, will air in "Bonanza's" old time slot at 9 p.m. Sunday.
The new series will revolve around Ben Cartwright's early years
as a widower raising three young sons on a ranch in the Nevada
wilds.

DeGENERES GETS EMMY HOSTING HONORS
Ellen DeGeneres has been tapped to host the Primetime Emmy Awards
on Sept. 16, which will be televised live on CBS from the Shrine
Auditorium in Los Angeles. DeGeneres co-hosted the awards show in
1994 with Patricia Richardson ("Home Improvement").
