'SPIDER-MAN' COSTUMES MISSING
Four "Spider-Man" costumes, designed for star Tobey Maguire, have
gone missing from the film's set in the Los Angeles suburb of
Culver City and Columbia Pictures has posted a $25,000 reward for
their safe return. Local police are investigating. In related
news, just a month after a tragic accident took the life of a
construction worker on the set another mishap has left actor
Tobey Maguire's stunt double injured. Zack Hudson, the guy whose
job it is to perform all the hair-raising daredevil Spidey
maneuvers Maguire's contract won't allow, fractured his leg
Tuesday after one tricky stunt went way wrong. It's not known if
the mishap will set back production on the movie, which is
scheduled for release in May 2002.

The project will go into production later this month with
comedian Dave Sheridan in the title role. The film is about an
insurance claims investigator (Sheridan) who takes his job a
little too seriously, dressing up in disguises to uncover a
conspiracy. But limiting his ability to solve cases is the fact
that he is a safety freak, a trait instilled in him by his
overbearing mother (Parton) because 20 years earlier, her
daredevil husband, known as Madman McKlusky (Quaid), went into a
coma after attempting a spectacular stunt. Madman continues to
lie unconscious in his daredevil suit in the McKlusky home.

scene in a nearby ballroom heard the boy scream and ran over to

WATCH OUT LADIES, 'MAN BAND' ON THE WAY
Check this out -- London publicity company 15 Minutes said on
Monday it was searching for five men over 50 to prove to the
music industry that youth is not necessarily the key to success.
"We came up with the idea after a company meeting when staff
began complaining about talentless, manufactured boy bands with
all the longevity of a butterfly," said Kizzi Nkwocha, media
consultant at 15 Minutes.
"We decided we should put together a band of men over the age of
50 with real musical ability, real singing ability, and some
experience, but who the music industry have ignored,'' he said.
"Just because there's snow on the roof doesn't mean the fire's
gone out down below." 15 Minutes has had 2,416 applicants in 10
days. The band -- provisionally called Man Band -- will be formed
over the next two weeks, and a single should be out within six
weeks.

GREEN, BARRYMORE REALLY MARRIED THIS TIME?
During a USA Today chat for his upcoming film, "Freddy Got
Fingered," Tom Green broke the news that he and Drew Barrymore
have indeed gotten married (for real this time.) "We were
recently married. People will figure it out soon," he said. "It
has been a year of everyone asking us when we were going to do
it. Now it is all over, and we're happy." Green says he and
Barrymore exchanged vows in a private ceremony in Los Angeles "a
couple of weeks ago." Barrymore's publicist, Eddie Michaels, even
insists it's true this time. The catch however is that
Barrymore's publicist said the pair were married out of the
country. {Go figure.}

CHICAGO ITALIAN GROUP SUES 'SAPRANOS'
An Italian-American legal group on Thursday sued the producers of
cable TV's popular show "The Sopranos," saying it paints Italians
as born criminals. The suit against Time Warner Entertainment Co.
seeks no money or modifications in the show, but asks a court to
proclaim that the program violates the Illinois Constitution's
guarantee of individual dignity. "This is like no family I know,"
said attorney Enrico Mirabelli, pointing to a poster of the
fictitious mob family in whose name the letter "R" is depicted by
a pistol. "I don't know Italian mothers, ever, who try to have
their son killed. That's not realistic," he told a news
conference called by the American Italian Defense Association.
The association issued a statement saying the series "suggests
that criminality is in the blood or in the genes of Italian
Americans and that Italians as early immigrants to this country
had little opportunity other than to turn to crime."

'SURVIVOR' IN HOT WATER OVER REEF
Did you catch the last episode of "Survivor"? In it Colby and
Jerri won an obstacle course type race against the other cast
members. For doing so they were treated to a nice scenic
helicopter ride from their camp to the Great Barrier Reef, where
they enjoyed some scuba diving and a nice dinner on the beach.
While scuba diving, Colby thought it would be a good idea to
bring back pieces of coral as souvenirs for other cast members.
It turns out that it is illegal to take coral from the World
Heritage listed reef without a permit. Penalties include fines of
up to $52,800. Authorities in Australia are investigating the
situation.

Spy Kids (Rated PG)
Starring: Antonio Banderas, Alan Cumming, Carla Gugino, Teri
Hatcher, Cheech Marin.
Release Date: March 30, 2001

Review by Susan Granger
SSG Syndicate
http://www.susangranger.com

The family that spies together, stays together. That's the
homespun philosophy behind this fantasy that pairs two "retired"
spies with their unsuspecting children in a rousing adventure. It
all begins with the Cortez kids, 8 year-old Juni (Daryl Sabara)
and 12 year-old Carmen (Alexa Vega), listening to their favorite
bedtime story, "The Two Spies Who Fell In Love," which reveals,
through flashbacks, how their parents (Carla Gugino, Antonio
Banderas) met and married. The Cortezes are now "consultants" but
eagerly jump back into action when former associates mysteriously
disappear. But their past still mystifies their squabbling
siblings who protest, "Our parents can't be secret agents.
They're not cool enough!" However, after a hasty trip down a
hidden passageway to an escape pod that becomes a submarine, not
only are Carmen and Juni convinced, but they're propelling the
action, rescuing their parents from the evil clutches of Fegan
Floop, a TV kiddie-show host (Alan Cumming, resembling Pee-Wee
Herman), and his Floogle army of robotic children and Gumby-like
"thumb-thumbs."

Innovative, imaginative film-maker Roberto Rodriguez
("Desperado,""From Dusk Till Dawn") creates empowered junior
James Bonds, wide-eyed with delight at their wacky, Willie
Wonka-like gadgetry, while fostering pride in Hispanic culture.
Teri Hatcher, Tony Shaloub and Cheech Marin head the supporting
cast - with a quirky George Clooney cameo and groovy music.

On the Granger Movie Gauge of 1 to 10, the PG-rated "Spy Kids" is
a fast-paced, family-friendly 7. You can bet your electroshock
bubble gum that, given the proper marketing, this could develop
into a formidable franchise.
