3. IN THE NEWS - Movies & Entertainment
=======================================================

THE LATEST ON 'MATRIX'
Details about the upcoming "Matrix" sequels are still under
wraps, but in an article at Entertainment Weekly a few tidbits
were dropped that I found interesting. While talking to EW Keanu
revealed some hints about the action in the film saying "Before,
all the fights were one on one and now there's going to be more
multifighting." EW also quoted Reeves from his recent interview
with Rolling Stone, when he said, "There's going to be much more
wire work (in the sequels) because the characters can fly. With
this one I'll fight in the sky."

THREE STOOGES FILM
Peter and Bobby Farrelly The sibling writer-directors behind
"There's Something About Mary" and "Dumb & Dumber" are planning
to make a movie based on the slapstick characters of Larry, Moe
and Curly. Warner Bros. Studios say the film won't be a remake of
any particular Stooges story, but will be an original idea cooked
up by the brothers.

DARTH VADER HOSPITALIZED
David Prowse, the actor who gained fame as the body of Darth
Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy (James Earl Jones was the
voice), was hospitalized in Britain this week with a mysterious
back pain that briefly paralyzed him. Doctors have yet to
diagnose the injury, but they have ruled out the possibility that
Prowse, 65, suffered a stroke.

'CONAN 3' GETS A NAME?
The IGN FilmForce site has an exclusive stating that sources
close to original Conan director John Milius have informed them
that Milius has begun working on the script for the third "Conan"
movie and the title will be "King Conan: Crown of Iron." We will
have to wait and see.

SCOOBY DOO PICS
The IGN FilmForce site also has a couple pics up that were taken
from footage that showed up on Access Hollywood. One pic shows
Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred and dawning a very bad wig I might
add, the other is of the "Scooby" Gang.
http://filmforce.ign.com/news/2098.html

ESCAPE ARTISTS NAB 'BERMUDA'
The Escape Artists production company has nabbed an
action-adventure pitch called "The Bermuda Triangle." The film
according to the Hollywood Reporter will tell the story of a
shipload of people trapped in the Triangle looking to find a way
back home.

RICHTER GETS 'SCARY'
Andy Richter, known best as Conan O'Brien's ex-sidekick on NBCs
'Late Night with Conan O'Brien has joined the cast of "Scary
Movie 2." The film will spoof "The Exorcist" and "Stigmata,"
among many others. Richter will play Father Kerris.

'KATE & LEOPOLD' CASTING
Charlotte Ayanna is the latest to join the cast of the
time-travel romantic comedy "Kate & Leopold," which also stars
Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman.

COLLETTE EYES 'BOY'
Toni Collette ("The Sixth Sense") is in negotiations to play the
female lead opposite Hugh Grant in "About a Boy," a $30 million
comedy-drama based on Nick Hornby's novel. According to Variety,
Grant will play a wealthy, 36-year-old, womanizing slacker whose
fear of commitment leads him to seek out relationships with
single mothers on the grounds that they are easier to leave. His
plans go awry, however, when he becomes best friends with the
12-year-old son of his latest target (Collette). The film will be
directed by Chris and Paul Weitz ("American Pie") and will begin
shooting April 16th in London.

FOLEY JOINS 'BELOW'
Variety reports that Scott Foley (Felicity, Scream 3) has jumped
on board David Twohy's World War II supernatural submarine
thriller "Below," which tells the story of a haunted American
submarine. Production on the film is expected to start in
mid-March.

UA PICKS UP 'IGBY'
Igby Goes Down," starring Claire Danes and Susan Sarandon will be
released domestically by United Artists. According to the
Hollywood Reporter, "Igby" is about a keenly smart, indolent
teenager struggling with his dysfunctional family who runs away
to New York to live with his godfather, and also stars Amanda
Peet, Jared Harris, Kieran Culkin, Jeff Goldblum and Bill
Pullman.

DRIVER HITS ON JULIA ROBERTS, GETS FIRED
Doug Swartz, a 40-year-old limo driver in Las Vegas, was fired
for hitting on Julia Roberts. Swarz reportedly dropped Roberts
off at her hotel in Vegas - where she's working on director
Steven Soderbergh's remake of "Ocean's Eleven," with George
Clooney and Brad Pitt - and tried to pass a rose and a letter to
the actress, according to MSNBC.com. The note reportedly read, "I
know you probably have everything you need and more, but if
there's anything I can do to make your stay better, please don't
hesitate to call." The note was intercepted by Roberts'
personnel, who promptly called the driver's superiors.

"Judge Judy" have been brought by a producer on the show, who is
suing the program's executive producer, alleging that he harassed

DIRECTORS CUT OF 'HANNIBAL'
When "Hannibal" director Ridley Scott finished his preferred cut
