=======================================================

RELEASE DATE CHANGE FOR 'MUMMY RETURNS'
Universal pictures has alot of faith in the upcomimg "The Mummy
Returns" flick. The studio has moved the film from its previous
release date of May 11th to one week earlier on the 4th. The
movie originally would have been a sole release for that weekend
with no real competition, but now it will be up against a number
of other features due out that weekend, including "Texas
Rangers," "Crazy/Beautiful" starring Kirsten Dunst, and the
Nicole Kidman musical, "Moulin Rouge" also starring Ewan
McGregor.

PANDEMONIUM GETS 'DEAD CREW'
Pandemonium production has picked up a science fiction pitch
called "The Dead Crew." According to Variety, the film will tell
the story of four people who seemingly die in a meteor shower but
are instead altered into immortal beings. They then determine to
seek out reasons for this metamorphosis.

ZELLWEGER EYES 'OLEANDER'
Renee Zellweger is in negotiations to star opposite Michelle
Pfeiffer in Warner Bros.' "White Oleander" for British helmer
Peter Kosminsky. Based on Jane Finch's 1999 debut novel of the
same name, "Oleander" tells the story of a woman (Pfeiffer) who
murders a former lover and is imprisoned for life and how her
daughter (Zellweger) must navigate a new reality through a series
of Los Angeles foster homes. The daughter is eventually asked to
falsify her testimony at a trial to free her mother.

STEVENS, ROOKER ROUND OUT 'UNDISPUTED'
Fisher Stevens and Michael Rooker have been added to the cast of
the Walter Hill-directed feature "Undisputed." According to the
Hollywood Reporter, the project stars Ving Rhames as a
heavyweight-boxing champ who is sent to jail after being
convicted of raping a woman. There, he takes on the prison's
boxing champ (Wesley Snipes). Stevens plays Ratbag, Monroe's
manager-trainer and fellow convict in the penitentiary. Rooker
plays head prison guard A.J. Mercer.

'SOLDIERS' CASTING
Greg Kinnear has been cast to star with Mel Gibson in Paramount
Pictures/Icon Prods.' "We Were Soldiers Once ... and Young" (aka
"Lost Patrol") for Randall Wallace, who will direct from his own
script.

'HANNIBAL' BREAKS RECORDS
Hannibal had quite a showing this weekend grossing more than $58
million in it's first 3 days. "Hannibal" beat the $34.7 million
record for a February opening set by "Scream 3" last year. Only
two other movies, "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" and "Star Wars:
Episode I - The Phantom Menace," grossed more in their first
three-day weekends. "Hannibal" also had the best opening ever for
an R-rated movie, topping the $42.3 million debut of "Scary
Movie" last summer.

LYONNE SIGNS ON TO 'PIE 2,' & 'KATE'
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Natasha Lyonne has signed on
to reprise her role from the first film for "American Pie 2" as
well as Miramax' time-travel romantic comedy "Kate & Leopold"
starring Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman. In "Kate," Lyonne will take
on the role of a personal assistant to Meg Ryan.

'EXORCIST' PREQUEL CASTING
Casting began Wednesday in Los Angeles for the "Exorcist:
Dominion" film. A prequel to 1973s classic, "The Exorcist." The
prequel will tell the story of Father Merrin's first encounter in
Africa with the demon he encountered, which eventually resulted
in his death, in the original.

MORE 'SPIDER-MAN' EXTRA'S WANTED
The "Spider-Man" production is in need of more extra's. This call
will take place on March 15, 16, 19, 20-23 and 26. There was no
word on what the scenes involve. If interested your asked to
contact Metropolis comic store in Downey, CA, at
metropolis@... Additional details can also be found on
the store's website: www.metrohero.com. There are a number of
things you must provide before contacting them, so be sure to
visit their site first for all the details.

ANG LEE TAKES 'HULK' NOT 'T3'
While talking to E! Online, Ang Lee revealed that he was
originally offered directing duties on the developing "Terminator
3" project. Lee explained his reason for taking on the green
behomoth over "Terminator" by saying, that the Hulk movie project
had "more depth, more feeling" than a third Terminator was likely
to have.

'SPIDER-MAN' WEB COMPROMISE
As you 'Spidey' fans might know, the current script calls for
'Spidey' to spin webs from organic shooters that grow from his
wrists and not from the mechanical spinners that Parker invents
in the comics. James Cameron was the originator of this idea and
Sam Raimi is a defender of this decision. It seems now according
to E! Online columnist Anderson Jones that there has been a
compromise. This may be a spoiler to some of you, so if you don't
want to know do not click on the following link.
