Minikino is not a Japanese word.

Minikino is a group of people who believes that a short film is a form of art that, like a poem or a short story, is a self-contained work of literature. Seizing this idea, Minikino brings a unique selection of short films from around the works to audience in Indonesia and vice versa.

Minikino began its monthly screening and discussion in Denpasar (Bali, Indonesia) in September 2002. Since 2003 Minikino also screens in Jakarta and Bandung, Indonesia. Minikino has also supplied and programmed for other film events and festivals both in and out of Indonesia. Since March 2003, Minikino began to sell compilation of short films on VCD.
