FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Riverside Saginaw Film Festival Holding Short Film Contest

These days camcorders sell for a song, films can be edited on any computer, and anyone with a creative vision and a steady hand can be an auteur. So forget YouTube, here’s a chance to screen your film before an audience and make some real money.

Organizers of the second annual Riverside Saginaw Film Festival are putting the word out to undiscovered filmmakers. The festival, scheduled for June 24-29, is sponsoring a short film contest with juried awards and cash prizes for the best submissions.

The first outing of the Riverside festival in 2007 featured a stellar lineup of independent films from around the world, including several Michigan premieres. The short film contest promises to beef up the festival’s Midwest/North America offerings while lending it the excitement of a juried event.

For a $25 entry fee, contestants can submit their films to one of three categories: narrative, documentary, and animated/experimental. Submissions should range from two to thirty minutes in length. A selection of the best entries will be shown at the festival, and jury and audience awards with $100 cash prizes will be presented for each category.

The festival’s organizers welcome submissions from amateurs and professionals. The deadline for submissions is April 30, 2008. For more information, including entry forms and contest rules, visit http://www.riversidesaginawfilmfestival.org or email info@riversidesaginawfilmfestival.org
