Thanks for signing up for my silly little list! The purpose of this
organized approach to fun is two fold: (1) I want to go see more movies
in the theater more often and (2) I want to see movies with friends.
You are some of my friends. Now, onto the movies!
One friend o' mine, let's call her, say, Megan, has suggested we see
Everything Is Illuminated next week. I propose Thursday. Everything Is
Illuminated is showing Thursday, Oct. 6, at the BAM Rose Cinemas in Brooklyn --
30 Lafayette Avenue at Flatbush Avenue (Subway: M, N, R, W to Pacific
St; Q, 1, 2, 4, 5 to Atlantic Avenue) -- at 7:10 and 9:30 p.m. I could
make the 7:10, just.
Why I want to see Everything Is Illuminated:
* Jonathan Safran Zoer's book -- http://www.jonathansafranfoerbooks.com/ -- is amazing. Amazing.
* The film costars one Eugene Hutz --
http://www.bruner.net/blog/archives/015317.shtml -- frontman for the
gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello and a one-time stalwart of the
Burlington, Vermont, indie scene.
* The film also costars Elijah Wood, who, well, appears to be
attempting to shrug off the Frodo mantle by starring in movies that,
IMO, don't seem to fit him entirely well. We've got this, and then
we've got Green Street Hooligans --

Growing pains, perhaps?
So, how should this work? No real need to RSVP, I don't think. Let's
just aim to meet at the theater -- lobbyish -- about 10 to 7. Bring
friends, multiples, even.
You like action movies; I like romantic comedies,
Heath
