Just saw a message from Suhas mentioning about some good movies.So here goes the review of SAIL.If you have seen the preview of the movie on Sunday on ETV marathi it was wonderful & you will also get a rough idea of the movie.Please bear with some ypo errors as the review was typed in just 8 mins.

 

 

 

 

Review : Movie revolves around two protoganists Reema & Mohan who meet in a dark & gloomy & rainy night at a farm house away from city(obvoiusly & please forget their names)Initially the story seems to be too slow as the dialogues are pretty slow during the first 15 mins.But as & when reema & mohan start conversation the dialogues appear to be CRISP(sometimes u even feel as if it is 10 : 1)as one sentence is compiled for a single sentence.

Well so the characters seem to have divorced as it appears & they have a feeling of angst,guilt & depression.

STORY IN NUTSHELL

Mohan is a simple employee working for a politician father of Reema.Reema has seen everyone submisive to her father except for Mohan who opposes him over a case.As if love at first sight they marry each other & reema leaves her filthy rich father for a poor boy.No & it is not a usual masala movie.Reema goives birth to a son & a daughter & is a happy wife & mother.But problem comes when Mohan shuns his principles & goes for bribes to meet his elite requirements for family & thats where reema opposes him & leaves the house.

Son with Mohan & daughter with reema are brought up separately.But son yearns for mother & daughter for father.Finally the extrovert & fundu son fights for some student union & visits mumbai to see his mother entered in to politics & play all the gimmics.Depressed he turns to drugs & one fine day is found dead near a gutter.The scene where Mohan drops conveying the news of his sons death to reema is superb.Now aobout the daughter,She in search of her father ends up sleeping with the school driver & get pregnant in 10 std.Reema giving the news to her husband & breaking down to is vulnerable.

Finally its support that both need from each other.Reema is fed up of politics & the amount of corpses under her chair.She reveals that she had to seek asylum at the abandoned farm house as the opposition party is behind her blood as she is the probable candidate for the CM's post.Story ends with Reema entering her world of politics as CM (inspite of Mohan's insisting her to surrender for all her wrong deeds)Mohan returns backto his life as lecturer in a law college.

 

Imagine all of the movie is without any flash backs(conventional cinema) & reema & mohan produce the same impact of flashbacks just with their dialogues & expressions.

Superb performances by reema & mohan,crisp & witty dialogues are the plus points of the movie.Finally direction & background score by Hridayanath Mangeshkar are good.

Mandire sune sune by Lata & Paus Rimzhim by Wadkar are too good. Finally marathi cinema is coming out of Lakshya & Kondke closet with bolder themes & movies.This movie is worth a DEKHO.Bravo to new wave cinema!!
