Dear People,

I am introducing myself as new member of this group, name is
Delhibabu, shortly babu.I am very happy that i am also joine with MR
fans.
One news i heard that,in MR's new film Guru , Ishwaryarai going to
act.I don't know who is the Hero and he will do both Hindi and
Tamil.Am i correct or he will do only in Hindhi......

            sir iam a great fan of urs. iam from bangalore.i have
recently read reviews abt ur forthcomin movie THE GURU, where mr
vivek oberoi has opted out 4 different reasons. instead of him u can
opt 4 maddy who has been workin with u 4 last 5 yrs. who has a good
accent in english and hindi even being a south indian.

      I read about the recent message reg Kannathil muttamittal.....
      I have to give credit to the person who said it does not bring
out a spark. Somehow when you end up seeing the movie you get a
feeling of 'emptyness'. In india compared to hollywood, it is very
easy to get a movie critically acclaimed. The reason is we give
unnecessary importance to cinematography, art direction and other
components. One thing we forget is the content. None of the indian
movies have had enough truth in it till now to call it a good
movie.Not only that it does not grip the viewer to the seats. The
interest is lost somewhere in the middle. This is exactly the reason
why our films are not recognised.

  Why lagaan was nominated to oscar?. coz every frame in it was mind-
blowing. Even the low-budget US movies have more special effects
than high budget indian movies.

Coming back to mani's movies i would like to say that anjali, mouna
raagam ,nayakan and thalapathi were very good movies. Frankly Dilse
and KMI were not grippy enough. They both were average fares.

  Yuva, thiruda thiruda. Same reason!. Interest is lost in the
middle. This is the reason No entry, kuch kuch hota hai, company and
kal ho naa ho were massive hits. This is the reason why munnabhai
MBBS and black were hits.

Audiences never do it deliberately nor are the critics. I would like
to finish my debate that whatever movie it is should be interesting
till very end.

Mallika in Manirathinam's film

The glamour doll of Bollywood Mallika Sherawat, who acted along with
Jackie Chan in The Myth, may act in Manirathinam's next film Guru.

The movie would feature Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role.

A busy actress, Mallika Sherawat was impressed with the storyline when
Manirathinam narrated the story to her and immediately decided to be
part of the movie.

It may be recalled that the like of Priety Zinta, Kareena Kapoor, Esha
Deol, Manisha Koirala and Rani Mukherjee were other prominent
Bollywood actresses who have acted in Manirathinam's direction.

Has anyone seen this movie that I think was released in Tamil / Hindi
about 15 years ago?

Regarding to your question,all i can suggest is, make something special..which involves cultural backdrop of Karnataka...an album which is rooted..something like the vandemataram album by the genius A.R.Rahman

stars Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. It is believed that she
has been signed for an important role. The actress plays a crucial
cameo which plays a significant part in the narrative of the film.

Another interesting casting in the film is in the form of Mithun
Chakraborthy. Mithun was to work with Ratnam years back on a Tamil
film called Anandam. However but it didn't work out because Mani
wanted Mithun to chop off his hair and Mithun was committed to work
with other directors at that time.

Also it was reported that actor Vivek Oberoi has opted out of this
film but the final casting is yet to be announced.

Guru is a forthcoming Hindi/English bilingual film to be directed by
Mani Ratnam. It stars Abhishek Bachchan with love interests by his
side, Aishwarya Rai and Vidya Balan. The movie also stars Vivek Oberoi
as the leading male antagonist [1]. The movie will also be dubbed in
Tamil and Telugu. The film's score and soundtrack will be composed by
A.R. Rahman, an acclaimed composer who has provided music for all of
Ratnam's movies since his debut in the film Roja. According to Gulzar,
the lyricist of the film, the music in the film will be very
different. Cinematography for the movie is handled by Rajiv Menon, who
has worked with Mani Ratnam previously as cinematographer in the film
Bombay. The movie has been said to be a matured love story. It is set
to start shooting sometime in April or May 2006 in London and is
slated for a November 2006 release. Ratnam is said to start his next
project with Aamir Khan after this film.

hi cool guys, all fo u thinking in a wrong way. do
some thing like a documentary on some topic try to get
airtime of a aprogramme.go to all channels.try to give
them in all pvt cable citi channels if not possible to
show in famous channels.its not a very difficult thing
to get appointment with studio people when u do these
kind of things. when u get so show ur documentary and
any other thing wharever u do and try to show script
to those people.but u have do these kind of things
with gr8 effort, sincierity & very srong enough to
inspire.try to work on all movie making stuff before u
go there
       enjoy people.im a fan of maniratnam by seeing
his movie nayagan.i was insired to make a movie by
watching his movie iruvar in telugu I.E iddaru.very
good background & milestone songs

Iam sure we all have observed these common things which appears in
most of Mani's movies:

Train:

beautifully. The movie which comes immediately to my mind:

Dil Se: one of the most famous song-on-train
Alaipayuthey: the flashback sequences..PC Sriram captures Chennai
local trains in a different light..

Mirrors:
There is one particular shot which repeats in most of his movies...
"the heroine's reflection from a mirror"
Nayakan, Roja, Iruvar, Alaipayuthey...almost all his movies...
The heroine usually speaks with either the hero or any other person,
facing the mirror..

There are many more such things..
I infact like it so much that I eagerly wait for such a scene to
repeat in every movie..especially the train sequences..

If u believe that u could make a difference in making an album sure
that u will be noticed..cricket and patriatism may or may not sell the
album..just think beyond that..ofcourse love is the ever selling
product..

Have u seen the album by Himesh reshammiya AAP KA SUROOR..which is the
bestseller in Hindi..try to give that kind of so that it competes the
market...

I donot know much abt kannada industry but i can surely tell u that
search the markets where u can sell ur product

Hi,

Maniratnam extracts the best out of ARR.
I think its the way Mani narrates or gets the co-artists invovled in
the subject that they actually feel the situation. Thats the reason
the music is soulful.
Not only music, if you notice other departments of his movie making
like acting, cinematography etc there is total dedication.

Movie making is a team effort. I sometimes wonder how much passion a
person like Maniratnam should have and he also has to make the entire
team share the same passion, thats what makes a great director.

My guess..
It could also be the name of the main protagonist of the movie..like
Roja, Anjali..
Ayutha Ezhathu...was an intrguing movie name and generated lots of
curiosity among the audience...

been described initially by the follwing words...

youths, frm 3 diff strata of society, with 3 diff pts
of view abt life, when THEIR PATHS cross,,,OR THERE
WAS A MEETING ON HOOGHLY/NAPIER bridge...and their
lives were changed irreversibly...we knew abhi/maddy
HAD A GREY ROLE, devgan.surya were student
politicians...A GOON, A GENIUIS AND A CHARMER...a lot
by mani ratnam's standards...

Kannathil Muthamittal - u kno the Amudha 5D, father
thiruchelvan, mother indra...THE FAMILY INTRO...THE A
CATCH PHRASE on the website...'how far wud u go for
something u really want" - or something to that
effect...THE ADOPTED CHILD'S SEARCH....but one must
admit THE SRILANKAN ANGLE WAS KEPT NICELY HIDDEN or
atleast less publicised...AND WAS A BEAUTIFUL SURPRISE

every other love story ends...it was said- 'u always c
lovers uniting in the end of a movie and walking into
the sunset together,,,this movie shows wat happens on
the next day aft the sunset....a nice love theme...

Dil se - it was hugely publicised that it was abt 2
lovers going thru the 7 stages of love ..as seen in
arabian stories i think...the attraction, infatuation,
love,intoxication,worship, obsession, &death(forgive
me if i mite have got one wrong)...the fact that
manisha was a human bomb terrorist...was released very
late ..just before the movie released...

so on and so forth....

but for GURU - we just have these talk of a casting
coup...abhishek being protagonist and search for
antagonist is on..john abraham or vivek oberoi...FOR
ALL I KNO THIS CUD MEAN ANYTHING OR NOTHING.....

So either the mysterious shroud of mani ratnam movies
is at a complete form or is just a matter of time b4 a
similar theme or catch phrase is announced...???

Maybe v cud venture out our own guesses for the
theme...logical or intuitive as they maybe...GURU
means teacher...so obvious assumption one will tend to
make...lame yet logical..is that its abt a
teacher....we then have a news saying abhishek will

It is a nice movie with good acting by all the lead actors.It had some
nice songs.
Have you watched mouna raagam.It is a very
nice movie my all time favourite movie.Share your thoughts about that
movie.

I would like to know one information regading this movie, After a long long time the Peace Talk was started between LTTE and Srilankan Govt. by Narway peace commitee only ofter the Kannathil Muthamittal was released.How many of u know this .

dear fellow memebers

have u watched the movie kanathil muthamittal this weekend?
its a nice plot with an excellent screenplay,dialogues,music and
camera.

when i saw the movie for the first time i was not concentrating on
the background scores but this time i have noted a particulaer where
madhavan and simran are getting married. just the song in the
background is nice...i just want to point out one more area where
ARR proves his talent.. i think u all have watched the fight in that

Hi Folks,

KM - One of the best from Maniratnam which has gr8 appeal in each of us for sure...

In KM at one sense, this child is adopted by a family and in another larger sense this entire community of refugees are adopted by a country; In the film Manisir' portrays how they cope with it, and still yearn for their mother and motherland. He uses Amudha as a window through which we look at the home at its troubles.

Madhavan's character is somewhat based on the Tamil writer Sujatha Rangarajan who is an Engineer by profession and who writes stories using his wife's name 'Sujatha' as his pen name. Mani Ratnam has even used Sujatha's handwriting in one scene where he depicts Madhavan's first published story 'Kudai' in a magazine.
