Everything about Sivaji is grand. One of the costliest films to have been made in Tamil film industry ever, Shankar shot a song sequence at Pune recently with Rajinikanth and Nayantra shaking legs together. It was one of the grandest ever, sources say.
Known to keep details close to his heart until his film's release is Shankar. As usual, he did not divulge any detail on the song shot at Pune.
However sources say, it was a 'typical' Shankar style song. The song has been penned by lyricist Na Muthukumar and set to tunes by A R Rahman. It goes Kaveri Aaril Kai Kuliki.
Over 350 junior artistes appeared for the song, which were taken all the way from Kodambakkam to Pune.
What more these dancers had Rajinikanth's image painted on their torso.
Shankar had brought painters, who use to draw facial paints for Kathakali dancers in rural districts of Kerala, for the purpose.
Supposedly the richest shot song ever, it has peppy beats.
This is the first time that Rajini’s introductory song features an important actress.

Rajinikanth's fans may have to wait a bit more to see their favourite hero on the screen.
His much-awaited Sivaji, one of the big-budgeted movies in Indian film history produced by A V M Saravanan and directed by Shankar, was slated for a release on 14 April, 2007.
The latest buzz doing rounds is that it may have a slightly delayed release.
Sources say the movie would be released on 8 May, 2007. Shankar is superstitious and always released his movies on 8. Interestingly, Sivaji is his eighth directorial venture.
Since the day it went to floors, Sivaji has been generating so much curiosity not just among Rajinikanth fans but also among avid film buffs.
Also, it is said that the producers are contemplating with the idea of bringing out a book on the Making of Sivaji to coincide with the release of the movie on Tamil New Year's Day.
The book will deal in detail about the experiences of the artistes working in it and also takes an inside look on how the project shaped up and how the movie was canned.
It would have inputs from Rajinikanth and Shankar.
A section of media went gaga over the reported news of Super Star Rajinikanth accepting to act as Ravana in an epic film on Ramayana by Rajkumar Santoshi in Hindi.
Rumors had it that Santhoshi had even convinced Rajinikanth to do the role.
However sources close to Rajinikanth, who is recently shooting for his forthcoming movie Sivaji at Pune, denied the news as mere rumors.
For now, all focus of Rajinikanth is towards shaping up his Sivaji. He has not yet decided about his forthcoming film, they say.
The Rs 100 crore film, Ramayan, is expected to go to floors early next year. Buzz was that the director had briefed the actor that Ravana would be portrayed as man of immense moral and physical strength with a great devotion to Lord Shiva in the movie.
However Rajinikanth has said `no' to the offer.
Meanwhile, the craze for Sivaji and the fervor for it is picking up every day.
Reports from Sivaji shooting spot confirm that everything is going on pat there.
Tamil media has been sold out Rajinikanth's simplicity and has come up with extensive reports about how Rajini, despite being offered a rest by the director, chose to stay with the unit and had food with them.
Rajini is also said to be making a major case for his pet theme of linking all the national rivers in India.
Rajini who had made a clarion call to such an idea in real life a few years ago (he even came up with a corpus fund with his personal contribution being a crore of rupees) is said to be reviving that idea in Sivaji.
Rajini back in Chennai – releases book on Chevalier Sivaji
He is the busiest and coveted star in South Indian cinema. He takes home the heftiest paycheck in the nation. The superstar who lives up to his title in both movies and in real life is a simple and down-to-earth human being much known to Tamils. Rajini's limitless credentials are indescribable.
Extracting quality time from the demanding shoots of his Sivaji, Rajini proved yesterday that he would be in the forefront when it comes to executing deeds honoring the veterans of Tamil cinema.
Rajini released a book yesterday on the pioneer actor Sivaji Ganesan titled `Uyarndha Manidhan' authored by the noted PRO Peruthulasi Palanivel.
The most wanted Chief Guest in the industry The number of invitations that Rajini receive to chair functions in the industry is overwhelming. Shankar, in his Imsai Arasan function denoted that he has had tough times to get the superstar to chair the 100th day function. This goes without saying that Rajini is very choosy in chairing functions.
The book Uyarndha Manidhan The author of Uyarndha Manidhan - Peruthulasi Palanivel is a noted PRO of AVM. When he decided to pen a book on the veteran Sivaji Ganesan, he required sponsors for his project. Thankfully, Guru Srinivasan from Vaaniyambadi and LIC Sridhar from Chennai who were ardent fans of the thespian and the Superstar came to his rescue and extended financial assistance for the project.
When the book was finished, Palanivel decided that the first copy should be released by the Superstar and approached S P Muthuraman who is also the associate producer of Sivaji. Promising him with minimal hopes SPM approached Rajini and came back with a positive response. Rajini who always reveres the thespian Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan instantly gave the nod after making sure that the occasion will be a low profile happening with no fan fare or flashing media lights. And to everyone's surprise he agreed to keep the event in his office at Raghavendra Mandapam itself.
The function The event was scheduled at 9.30 pm yesterday (9th November) and the organizers were waiting for Rajini's arrival. The Superstar reached the venue a little late owing to the lashing rains and bad traffic. However, he promptly apologized on his late coming to S P Muthuraman, wished everyone in his trademark style and asked about their well-being. Then the official book release event was carried out. He didn't fail to have a quick glance at the book and assured that he will give his feedback once he finishes reading it.
God blessed me only with money and not with hair A while later, Rajini, in a pensive mood, flipped through the photographs presented by the event organizers which were taken during the Imsai Arasan function – which was also posted in our website – and commented that his photographs were good except that he had gone bald. He funnily stated that God appeared before him 30 years ago and asked if he wanted more money or more hair. Rajini's choice of money made him lose his hair obviously. Over the years, his earnings kept rising and his hair kept falling.
Rajini also stated that whatever left on his hair is been plucked away by the hairdresser of Shankar's Sivaji, to accommodate the wig. Now he prays for hair but God is showing a deaf ear. Superstar laughed and signed off in his mode.
Speculations were ripe that Rajinikanth was to play the role of Ravana in popular bollywood director Rajkumar Santoshi's Ramayana. It was said that Santoshi had personally come down to chennai to meet the Superstar, and described his role in the film.Recent reports also claimed that Rajini was seriously considering taking up Ramayana as his next project.
However,Rajini himself ended all further speculation in a press meet yesterday. When asked about the offer,Rajini categorically denied having accepted the role and stated that all news relating him to the project were false.
On another note, the Pune schedule of Sivaji's shooting was successfully completed and Rajini has performed some dare devilry during the final days of shooting. He is said to have made a 100 feet jump, without using any dupes for a shot. This scene is a highlight in Sivaji and the entire unit was all praise for the Superstar.
Hats off to Rajinikanth for his dedication and willingness to perform stunts, that even the younger stars of today fear to attempt!
I just got a mail from my friend who works with EDS Pune. As you had reported about the Sivaji Climax in your website, I thought of sharing some photos that were caught on his mobile camera.
No matter how far Rajini goes. Fans will follow him like his other self. This may sound like a cliché to you and me, but not to Shankar who learnt a lesson or two in this chapter. With shooting in Chennai becoming increasingly tough with the superstar, Shankar decided to pick Pune as his alternative to can the shoots of Sivaji – which is known to us already. But unfortunately, the undaunted Shankar's fallacy failed him during the shoots of Sivaji in Pune recently. The crowd was not lesser even by a single person in Pune than it was in Chennai.
Impressed by the picturesque landscape and the serene beauty of Pune and the surrounding villages, Shankar chose the place as a perfect hideaway shooting spot. But the fecundity was far less than expected. Though the shoots were perfect, the fan following was not any less as mentioned earlier.
Nightmare followed him in Pune during the two schedules. The first schedule shoots were carried out in Panchgani, Satara, and Vai villages in interior Pune. The crew visited Cyber City in Pune again for the second schedule of shoots and for canning the climax scene.
Thronging fans, squeaking and squealing to get a glimpse of their star proved to be a frightening experience for Shankar who thought his life would be easier away from Chennai.
If India is head over heels for Rajini, Spain proved nothing less. Unfortunate Shankar had to face the mobbing fans in Spain as well during the shoots.
Now though, after the hard-hitting second schedules the crew is back from Pune.
Scoop on Sivaji climax. A reliable birdie cooed in our ears that Sivaji's climax has been shot in Pune. In the grandeur set which was made to replicate a medical college and university, scenes of Raghuvaran inaugurating the Sivaji Hospitals and Medical College with Rajini standing next to him were shot.
Colorful balloons were let out in the air during the shoots making the sky go vibrant. Shreya, and Vivek were also present in the shoots and applauded when Raghuvaran snipped the ribbons. Rajini was in black coat and Raghuvaran was dressed in deep grey suit. Shreya was sporting a stunning magenta silk sari.
Besides, the introductory song involving Nayan and Rajini was shot in a hill station in Pune and some sequences were also shot in Pune University. Romance sequences involving Rajini, Shreya were filmed in the Pune Railway station. Shreya confessing her love to Rajini in public was canned during the shoots in Pune Railway station.
Back in Chennai, Nayan, the effervescent beauty from the shores of Alappuzha chimed that Sivaji will prove that she is the perfect match for Rajini. She seems to be excited about the opportunity – twice now – to star with Rajini. It is difficult to bag the role opposite Rajini in two consecutive movies. But I am fortunate to be able to act with him in Sivaji following Chandramukhi. Though my role is only for a dance sequence, I am happy that I will appear in the opening scene with him, which is a credit by itself, Nayan announced. She had three movies to her credit for Diwali and with E's collection on the rise, Nayantara's stakes are likely to increase in Tamil.
Ramayana, the larger than life epic is likely to take another avathar in silver screen. Ramayana has been presented in celluloid a number of times in many regional languages and Hindi as well, the famous form being the mega sitcom, which was telecast on DD for years.
In an attempt to recreate the epic story of Ramayana to educate the younger generation, Rajkumar Santoshi, the noted Bollywood director has finalized the crewmembers including Rama and Sita. Ajay Devgan dons the role of Rama and his real life patni Kajol plays Sita in the movie. Earlier, impressed by Sneha's performance in a similar role in the Telugu hit `Sriramadasu', Santoshi decided to cast her as Sita in Ramayana and Sneha even participated in the photo sessions held in Mumbai. However, for reasons unknown Kajol now plays the role.
Rajkumar Santoshi was in Chennai recently to hold talks with Rajini to get him to play the role of Ravana in the movie. Since Ravana is considered as an evil monster, Rajini is reportedly in a dilemma to take up the project. However, there were no reports regarding the outcome of the meeting. We will keep you posted on the happenings.
Media is already feasting over the news of Raghuvaran's entry into Sivaji. Though the rehabilitated Raghuvaran who was back to the screens with Bheema was elated to be considered for Sivaji and was ready to take up the role, he had reservations on the other hand. Finally Shankar found a solution easing the uncertainties and paving way for Raghuvaran's inclusion in Sivaji.
The role Raghuvaran plays in Bheema is that of a gangster's which require him to grow long hair. Whereas his role in Sivaji demanded him to have a different look as that of a corporate honcho's. Shankar consulted with several make-up experts over this and finally gel method came to the rescue. Following this Raghuvaran need not have to sacrifice his long hair required for Bheema. It is already reported that Raghuvaran had flown to Pune for the shoots.
While Raghuvaran's role appears for a little longer duration in Sivaji, sources reveal that Amitabh's cameo role will be only for a few minutes.
It is also told that Amitabh was brought into Sivaji when AVM, who has close kinship with Sanjay Dutt, requested Sanjay to hold talks with the Big B for starring in Sivaji. Interestingly, sometime ago Amitabh also expressed his wish to be cast in Sivaji in an interview to a local tabloid.
Meanwhile, Sivaji's shoots are in full swing. Recently, Rajini and Shankar surprised the cinematographer K V Anand on his birthday with a huge birthday cake and celebrations on the sets.

Shankar is generally media-shy and stays away from interviews, especially while making a movie. He is particular that no detail about his movie should spill out.
But he has opened his mind out to a popular Tamil weekly. Though he has not said anything specific, he has spoken a lot about Shivaji, the movie starring Rajinikanth.
He has said that the film would have a strong message like it has been the case with all his movies before. But there will also be elements that will satisfy Rajini’s fans.
It will be a happy mix of both, he has said in the interview.
Shankar, who sounds relaxed all through the interview, has also played down suggestions that the movie is a competition to Kamal Haasan’s Dasavatharam, which, like Sivaji, is also scheduled to release on April 14. ‘There is no rivalry or competition. They are making movie. We are making a movie. That is all to it’.
Shankar, as ever, has spoken true to type.

Now we are talking about Shankar himself putting in an appearance. The happiness stems from the fact that the Big B (Amitabh Bachchan) himself has shot for a couple of scenes in the film.
Sources close to the film's shoot have confirmed that the scenes involving Bachchan were indeed shot in Pune.
Sivaji's shoot featuring Rajini are now being shot in Pune. A song with Nayantra was shot there recently.
With Amitabh Bachchan very busy, the team decided to shoot the scenes involving him there itself.
Though this is only a token appearance, Amitabh Bachchan's presence will add value to the movie.
This is also the first time that he is acting in a Tamil movie.
Amitabh Bachchan and Rajini share a special rapport. Rajini has acted in several successful Tamil remakes of Amitabh Bachchan hits of the 80s.
Amitabh Bachchan also acted with Rajini in Hindi movies like Giraftaar and Hum.
Sivaji shooting spot and the crew were awestruck when the big B of Indian cinema - Amitabh walked into the sets. Nope not as a visitor, but to be a part of the mega Rajini movie. Did we not tell you about the talks that were being carried out by Shankar to rope Amitabh in for Sivaji? Seems like the talks were fruitful and Amitabh has flown down from Mumbai to finish the shoots with Rajini in a Juvenile home in Chengalpattu.
Amitabh is cast as the mentor and a lawyer in the movie who helps Rajini during difficult times. Earlier, shoots were carried out in the Binny campus in Chennai in a set constructed to reflect a prison. Rajini’s scenes as a prisoner were shot in the location and as a continuation Rajini and Amitabh’s combination scenes were shot in Chengalpattu. The shots of Amitabh, playing a lawyer, counseling Rajini during his imprisonment were shot in Chengalpattu.
The crew seemed to be having the time of their life to be associated with the biggest name in movie business. Rajini seemed pleased that Amitabh has been brought in for Sivaji.
After the shots, Rajini was seen having a good time at the juvenile home mentoring the children. He advised them to have a positive attitude towards life quoting some of the juvenile kids who made it big in their life. He wished them all luck with their future. With that Sivaji’s shoots are almost reaching a closure and a community hall has been rented out in Chengalpattu for canning vital scenes of the movie. Shankar is slating the movie for an April 2007 release and witnessing the phase of the movie’s progress, that is not too difficult a target to achieve

He may be an ace director and knows how to extract perfect work from his artistes. However, that most certainly does not mean that Shankar knows the nuances of acting. Shankar encountered the embarrassing moment when he tried his hand in acting on the sets of Sivaji recently. You may wonder when he started acting. Well, read on folks.
It is customary for Rajini's directors to appear in a scene or two in his movies. For instance, K.S. Ravikumar appeared in Muthu and Padayappa, and P. Vasu appeared in the latest Chandramukhi. With that in mind, we concur that Rajini insisted Shankar to appear in one of the scenes of Sivaji. A scene has been canned while the crew was at its shoots in Pune recently, where Shankar, Thottadarani – the art director, and K.V. Aanand – the cinematographer appear in the movie. Though the scene has a screen life of 10 seconds, Shankar could not get it right and had to go for retakes 5 times. However, we heard that Thottatharani, and K.V. Anand came off with flying colors. Is Shankar camera shy?
Sivaji's schedule in Pune is finished and the crew has reportedly landed in Chennai after the successful completion of the shoots.
News has just come in that Raghuvaran has been asked to rush to Mahabaleshwar, the famous hill station near Pune city to join the Sivaji shoot.
For the last 10 days the shoot of the introductory song of Rajni along with Nayanthara was being shot in and around Pune. The song has been successfully completed and now some parts of the climax is being shot by Shankar.
Some time back we had written how Shankar was trying to rope in Amitabh Bachchan to play a crucial role in the film but he has refused for various reasons. Now it looks like the character that Big-B was supposed to play will be done by Raghuvaran!
Rajnikanth is one actor was has an excellent rapport with Raghuvaran. In Baasha Raghuvaran played the main villain and was a perfect foil to Rajni.
Eager to hear some news about Superstar's Sivaji songs? Don't you worry folks. We have got news. Credible sources revealed that Sivaji has 7 songs to its credit. All being pep songs with energetic beats from Rahman, they are sure to propel the movie's music to the top in the charts.
Though the news is that there are 7 songs in the movie, only 5 will be featured in the audios and the rest will be short duration songs.
However, while we present you with the first hand scoop as delivered to us, it can only be found when the audio is released as to how many numbers Sivaji has to its credit.
Va ji, Va ji, Sivaji…
This could be the opening song of the movie. Though it was decided earlier not to have Rajini's entry into the movie with an introductory song, Shankar is contemplating with the thought of reinstating one such song. That could be it.
Unpeyar ennada…
As is the rule in Rajini's movies, we presume that this is a philosophical number joining the likes of other famous songs of the same genre, which are quintessential for his movies.
Boom boom jee boom ba …
This most likely is the duet song with Shreya and Rajini in the lead. If that is true Rajini could be seen shaking his legs with Shreya either in the exotic European locations or simply in our neighbouring Karnataka.
Talla dimi takka dimi pucha..pyun pyun enna rastina..ho ra ho yenna rastina.. hoo haa..
Didn't decipher a word of it, don't you worry or be concerned about the plight of Tamil lyrics in songs. This song is Japanese and will be shot in Japan when the next schedule commences.
Adaal udan pesadha di.. en salangai ku bhadil solladi..
You might wonder what the old Vanjikottai Valiban song is doing in Sivaji's song list. We assume that inspired by the hits the remix of old songs generate, Shankar has decided to embrace one such song. This song could be a climax song or just like the one in Padayappa where Ramyakrishnan challenges Rajini with her dance moves, but with the lead ladies.
Stay tuned for more updates and we will enlighten you with more news when our reliable birdie coos news into our ears. Ciao.
There is an article few days ago at Rediff.com asking whether Hritik Roshan is Bollywood's Highest Paid Actor and there was some rumours pass by some members in the message board that Hritik may be highest paid actor in India after strucking deal with Adlabs? ?http://inhome. rediff.com/ movies/2006/ oct/26hrithik. htm
and now there is a new article written by north indian(not
sure ..probabaly) confirming SuperStar is the highest paid actor in India and 2nd highest in Asia !!! this should be a good information for everyone including people who love to speculate and dont want to believe SS is the highest paid actor in India. Take note Aiswarya Rai is the highest paid actress in India. :)
Despite the mind-boggling Rs35 crore deal for three films, Hrithik Roshan is not the highest paid actor in India. Shubha Shetty-Saha spoke to several industry insiders to figure out who stands where in the pecking order, and came away with a few surprises.
1 Rajnikanth: For Sivaji, he will get Rs30 cr ?Rs15 cr plus a share of BO revenues. He is the second highest-paid actor in Asia.
2 Shah Rukh: He bagged Rs12 cr for Don. That
makes him, and not Hrithik, the highest paid star in Bollywood.
3 Hrithik Roshan: His three-film deal with Adlabs means he will get slightly more than Rs11 cr per film.
4 Chiranjeevi: The Telugu superstar makes at least Rs8 crore per movie, apart from a percentage of profits.
5 Aamir Khan: For The Rising he was paid Rs7 cr. He took less (Rs5 cr) for Rang de Basanti due to Rising's bad show.
6 Kamal Hassan: Despite several flops down south, a couple up north, Hassan still commands Rs5 cr a film.
7 Salman Khan: He charges Rs4.5 cr per film. Industry insiders say the good showing of Jaan-e-Mann will jack up his price.
Amitabh Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan charge more (Rs3 crore per film) than Abhishek Bachchan (Rs2.5crore per film). The highest paid female Bollywood star is Aishwarya Rai at Rs2 crore per film, while Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and Kareena Kapoor tie in for the second position at Rs1.5 crore
per film. Priyanka Chopra takes Rs1 crore per film.
Hopefully the movie release on early of nxt year !!!

Sivaji crew is back to work in full swing for the second schedule of the shoots after a relaxing Diwali holiday break. Shankar and his aides are busy filming for the mega movie in North India, in Pune and other parts. Sivaji is slated for an early 2007 release and Shankar is working towards it.Whilst on the subject, Rajini seems to be indulged in the project, probably his spirits are lifted after him becoming a grandpa, we assume. He surprises the crew every now and then with galore of gifts. For instance, he gifted all the crewmembers with woolen sweaters while the shoots were held at a hill station in North India. On the other hand, after the successful filming of a stunt scene, he surprises the stunt crew with monetary gifts. Rajini's indulgence most certainly sends out a signal that he is enjoying the shoots of Sivaji, which by itself stands credit to the movie.

In fact, last year, Bachchan had also made a guest appearance in a Kannada film Amrithvarsham. Ganga and Amrithvarsham are Big B's only two stints in regional cinema. "I did the two guest appearances because two dear friends asked me to. I was asked to do a cameo in Rajnikanth's next Tamil project. But I declined as I didn't have the time. Also learning a South Indian language is a huge responsibility (in the Kannada film, he spoke English). I truly admire artistes
from Mumbai who act in South Indian films and also speak the language. Rajnikanth and I are close friends and we have done films together. I'd have loved to be in his film."
