***************************
"Minkee Business" - a painting by the multi-talented Linda Miller, aka Pvt. Meek, of Bela and his hairy companion from *Murders in the Rue Morgue* (1932). "Meek," as she was known to her legion of friends, was fascinated by apes, actors who portrayed apes like Charles Gemora, Dwight Frye and any character portrayed by Dwight Frye, Shakespeare, Richard III, any person who was "posturely challenged," as Richard allegedly was, Edgar Allan Poe and T.E. Lawrence (aka "Lawrence of Arabia"). Her presence enlivened the Monster Bashes for the last 10 or more years. She was self-effacing but had a wry sense of humour and her selflessness and generosity endeared her to her many, many friends. She was highly regarded by noted genre artists like Basil Gogos and became good friends with worthies such as Dwight Frye, Jr. and Ray Bradbury. Lugosiphilia in particular owes her an enormous debt of gratitude for creation of our beautiful logo.
Linda sadly, passed on way before her time on Monday, September 15, 2008, at age 48.
