Last night I stayed up to watch the Mamma Mia
cast's appearance on Children In Need Night, and
throughly enjoyed it (that and the Blue Peter tribute to
Eurovision were my favourite bits of the evening). Anyway, I
have a few comments about the Mamma Mia
medley:

By and large the MM cast did it rather well. The
first number was "nice", with the second, Mamma Mia, it
was pleasing to note the cast seemed to be putting
sufficient energry into the song, although I'd have
preferred the version of the song done in Act 1 (with
Louise brandishing the drill) rather than the choruses
finale reprise. I think I spotted Lori Haley Fox among
the chorus. However, things really stepped up a pace
with the third numberwhen that commanding captain of
the stage, Louise Plowright, herself, strode on (to
appluse) and lead them with Rich Man's World , which I
think went over the best, all those performing it did
it really well. The last number, Dancing Queen, was
the second best, mainly because Louise led it so
wonderfully. I can't say I thought much of the performance of
the rest of the company on that one, especially not
the other two Dynamos (the two Lesley's), although
short Ms Nicol, in the red was alright mainly because
she stayed firmly in the background, I didn't think
that other gal was at all good and she had what I
thought to be a rather silly plaster smile. However, the
shining star of the group was the leading lady Louise
Plowright. She performs with such conviction. It was worth
watching that medley for her performance alone. I felt it
was so right, proper and fitting that she, one of the
show's key performers should get to shine so bright on
CIN night.

Incidentally, talking of Children
In Need nights gone past, I rememeber reading on the
Hot Shoe Shuffle fanclub yahoo board that there is
some story about one time some years ago when Louise
was on Children In Need before, and did a duet, with
one of her sisters (according to the HSS board she
has three) that went a bit wrong, does anyone know
when that was and/or who she was appearing
with?

Best Wishes
Emma
E.Shane@...
