"I like big butts and I can not lie . . .
Hmm, lately I find myself humming the old Sir Mix-A-Lot tune every
time I see a beauty ad. Oh, the mighty pendulum seems to be in full
swing. Note to skinny, waif like models – grab a sandwich – Big
Butts are in. Last year J. Lo launched jeans that had room for "junk
in the trunk." This year, Jessica Simpson has launched a plus-size
line. You gotta love it!
The Dove "Real Beauty Campaign" has sparked many a heated debate
about the role of "real women" in advertisements. And now those
voluptuous ladies are featured on the cover of People magazine.
Damn, that song keeps playing in my head – LOL
Wait there's more, Nike has joined the ranks. Its campaign
celebrates women's "big butts, thunder thighs and tomboy knees."
Real women with real bodies- well, it's about time. Looks like Kate
Moss is heading to the unemployment line.
Maybe, women have had enough. Maybe, they are tired are starving
themselves to try look like air-brushed waifs. Maybe, they are tired
of the rollercoaster ride of yo-yo dieting. Maybe, they just want to
keep it real. And for that, we say "AMEN!"

I look forward to being a part of this group and hope
she stops for a visit when she gets the chance. I also
hope there's more activity on here than what I've
seen....I wouldn't want her to think we're not
thinking of her or anything!
Oh, and I don't know what the chances are of me being
related to her, but I wish I was so I could have
somewhat of a "mentor" in the family. *sigh* Wishful
thinking.

Hi Jenn.
Nice to have you on board. It's good that you're now one with us in giving
Lindsay some support in her career.
I would take exception to what you said about probably doing the same thing to
mean kids. Lindsay's example in life should be your inspiration, not her roles.
Women like yourself are beautiful both inside and out. You should continue to
show that as Lindsay has.
Hopefully, you will follow in her footsteps and get to Hollywood as well. Just
ask her. She sometimes finds the time to read this mailing list when her work
isn't taking up her time.
And yeah. It is cool that you have the same last name as her. I thought you
were a cousin or some other realtive. :)

Hi everyone,
I'm new here. I actually became a fan of Lindsay's when I saw her on
the episode "Mean" on Law & Order: SVU. I love the show and what drew
me to Lindsay is the part she played in it. I too am big and have been
my whole life, and having gradeated (yes, i misspelled it on purpose)
in 96, there wasn't much done to kids back then who picked on us big
kids. Nowadays, I probably would have done the same thing she did in
the episode. I am currently looking to pursue a career in acting, and
can hope that I too will be successful like Lindsay. I hope she reads
this forum, because I really do admire her. She's one of my favorite
actresses. BTW is there an address to which mail or email can be sent ?
And yes, I think it's quite an honor to share the same last name as
her too!

"Life gets better when you embrace your geekiness"
Fox's newest medical drama, "House" takes on obesity. In episode
28, "Heavy" - which aired March 28th – we meet Jessica, an
overweight ten year-old, whose heart stops when she collapses during
gym class.
As we follow this medical drama, we course through a full gamut of
obesity issues - a Fat 101 for Prime Time - insensitive doctors,
protective parents, secretive children, self-esteem and body image,
school yard taunts, diet pills, and genetic disorders - just to name
a few.
"Of course you're sick, you're fat," argues an insensitive doctor
entrenched in a medical culture trained to view fat as a moral
failing. This led to an interesting discussion between the Dr. and
Jessica's mother where the mother complains "you just can't see past
her weight." You mean there could be something else?
Of course, this is where the "real" doctors come in to save the day.
It turns out Jessica has a tumor, as a result of a disorder called
Cushings Disease. Cushing's disease is probably more accurately
referred to as hyperadrenocorticism -- the production of too much
adrenal hormone causing increased drinking, increased urination,
increased appetite- resulting in weight gain and high blood pressure.
It was refreshing to see the medical community (ok, so it's only on
TV) looking for causes beyond diet and exercise as a possible reason
for the illness. Actually treating the patient as a patient and not
simply as a fat person. We all are too aware of the studies where
the symptoms of big folks get lost by doctors who simply don't pay
attention to them because they assume any problem they have is
caused by being overweight.
So as to wrap things up nicely (hey, we only have sixty minutes and
we have to work in a few subplots and doctor squabbling here and
there), Jessica has surgery and then fast forward a week to a
recovering, slimmer Jessica. Whew . . .
While it seems to be progress to see plus-size characters appearing
on Prime Time (even if it's on sitcom medical shows), there is some
concern over the "at least she's not fat, anymore" ending. It
suggests that all of her suffering was wrong, not because it's
suffering, but because she wasn't really meant to be fat. If she
were still fat at the end, would the staff have been vindicated?

I was happy to see Lindsay on Scrubs, Tuesday night. I love that show
and it was even better with her guest starring. I was shocked to hear
the words "I'm going to have gastric bypass" come out of her mouth,
but hopefully that will never happen in real life. How can you mess
with an actress with such beauty with a surgery like that? Keep up
the good work, Lindsay!
Yes, it was Lindsay.
I'm happy-sad for that one.
Happy that our Lindsay's visible again but sad that she only had one scene.
As always, we'll be waiting for where she shows up again.
The more, the merrier. :)

Hi everyone, I joined this group because I have always been a fan of
Lindsay's. I think she is one of the more underrated actresses
around. Fortunately, she's still young, so that's probably because
people just aren't aware of her talents yet. But anyone who saw her
talent at different roles on "Law and Order: SVU," "Boston Public,"
and my personal favorite "Nip/Tuck," knows that she'll be around for
a long, long time.

Hey Everyone!
I am home in Ohio for the holidays and have had some time to surf around the
net. I've
almost forgotten about this little yahoo group that could. If anyone is still
out there (and
out of financial debt with a fabulous home loan thanks to those other posts)
here are the
updates.
In Nov. I finished shooting the third movie in the McBride mini-series for
Hallmark. It stars
John Larroquette. That airs sometime early next year. When I return to LA, I am
up for the
lead in an independent film and a possible Guest Star on a big hit TV show.
Also, I jet off
to Las Vegas for a few days to shoot a cute supporting role in the feature
Vegas, Baby.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday and cheers to a fabulous New
Year!!
Lindsay
Hello all.
I just found this group -- I caught Lindsay's episode of "Nip/Tuck"
recently, and was struck by how, despite how mentally unstable her
character was portrayed, they had her looking very well put-together and
attractive -- and what a good job she did in the very sad role.
I found her fan site online, and realized I'd also seen her in her "Strong
Medicine" role, where she was also quite attractive, though her character
was pushed to extremes to fight her weight. I also found the group, and
wanted to say "good job". There need to be more positive role models for
BBW actresses, and it looks like Lindsay is doing a bang-up job when she's
given the chance.
And, have I mentioned that she's a stone cold cutie? :)

Well, we were breathless at the end of SVU. My wife and I both
cheered "she didn't die!" Great job as usual.
Mike was real excited to see your work.

Been waiting for that.
And if anyone didn't catch it, she also guest-starred in the last episode of
Joan of Arcadia. It was only a few minutes but it was worth it to see Lindsay
on-screen as... nah. Go watch it. :)

Did anyone else catch Access Hollywood last night? They did a little
segment on Nip/Tuck and they had a full screen of Lindsay up for at
least 3 or 4 seconds :) Pretty cool........
I saw Nip/Tuck last night and I absolutely loved it. It has to be probably my
favorite character of Lindsay's. It was so good I nearly cried. I think that was
mainly because the story kind of hit close to home for me. Anyway, it was quite
different than what I'm used to, but it was great. If you missed it, there is a
rerun of it on Friday, or really Saturday, at midnight. I can't really think of
anything else to say except that I love it and I hope that Lindsay is on TV
again soon!

Okay so this is so awesome. I have known Linds forever...and ever.
We were best buds in HS and had MANY a laugh...if you read this
Linds, remember the slushie and the hostess cupcakes and the vacuum
and Ashley and Beth??? and me peeing in your car??? Anyhow, I am so
proud of her and consider myself so lucky to have been a part of her
life. She was hysterical back than, and she is even funnier now.
She is an incredible performer, but an even more awesome individual.
She pulled me through MANY a tough time. Hey Linds, I am still your
biggest fan!!! But it looks like I have some fierce competition!!!

Hello all of you!
Well, for all of you who are reading this, thank you for sticking in
there and continuing to be interested in my career :) Last
year was pretty difficult for the industry. We are all suffering from
the 9/11 fallout and current recession. Right now there are very few
roles to be had, especially for character actors in my age range. I
did complete a day of principal photography on an indie film called
"Sex and the Teenage Mind". You can go to the imdb.com to see a
complete cast list and track the progress of the film being released.
Don't be turned off by the title, it's a teen comedy, it's nothing
dirty :)
Now it is about auditioning and hoping that more parts will become
available in this New Year! I hope everyone reading this knows how
incredible it is for me to actually have a group like this and it is
so much fun when people post in here. That is why I wanted to send out
an update on what was happening since it has been pretty quiet. Please
post any and all questions that you may have, I'm happy to respond.
Love to you all and I hope everyone is having a wonderful New Year!!
Lindsay
Hi all!!!
Happy Holidays to all of you!
Nice to have found a group about Lindsay Hollister. Seems like there
hasn't been any activity here in quite a while. I hope there's still
someone out there.
If you're asking why I joined only now, it's because it's only now
that I found out Lindsay's name. I've only seen her in Boston Public.
I sure hope some of the things she came out in will be aired here in
the Philippines. =)
Anyway, hope to hear from any of you.
Lindsay,
I sure hope you're busy with work but not too busy to read this. You
are one of the most beautiful and talented women I never had the
pleasure of meeting. May 2003 be a very good year for you.
A belated merry Christmas and a fruitful New Year to you.
