get into SAG either by earning three vouchers doing extra work on a union tv
show or movie. OR you can be automatically granted membership by booking a major
role on a union tv show or movie if the show petitions the union to grant you
membership by claiming there were no union members who were better for the role.
It's called a Taft-Hartley and it's not easy to get in that way, but it happened
to me on Boston Public.

people are waiting outside and are called in one by one to audition? There is
usually a waiting area, yes, and you are brought into the casting room
individually to read with the casting director. Usually there are only a handful
of actors reading for a role as the casting process narrows and during what is
called a "Producer or Director" session.

question! I keep all my scripts and sides (the pages that I audition with). I
have never kept a souvenir from any set I've been on, though I've probably made
off with more hair pieces then I'd like to admit. I usually forget to give back
rubber bands and clips!
