Hi Everyone!
The thing I hear most from everyone who writes is how they think I should be on
a show
as a series regular. I so agree! I mean that is one of my biggest goals and let
me just tell
you how difficult that can be! This pilot season has blown in like a whimper for
the young,
character types. The pickin's are VERY slim so I was really excited to audition
for ONE last
week. I know the Producers from a Showtime show I had done a few years back. The
part
was perfect for me. They wanted to test me! That means bring me to the studio
suits and
network suits to audition. Then if those lovely people want me, I get a series
regular gig!
We waited a whole week for my deal to come through. Then last night I got the
call that
they did not have enough money in the budget to make this role a series regular.
So, they
were knocking it down to a Guest Star for the episode. I still have a shot at
it. I have to go
in for a "chemistry test" this afternoon with the guy who has already been cast
as one of
the leads. But the disappointment of not being able to go after a series regular
role is with
me right now. This is the second time in my career this has happened. They do
not value
character roles in Television. They are always the first to get cut or knocked
down. I wish I
knew how to get a toe in the door in order to start changing this. It's
extremely frustrating
and I feel like I'm always hitting my head against a wall when it comes to this
process.
I decided to post so y'all could see a part of the process. A little bit of all
the turmoil that
is constantly happening beneath the surface. I also went in for a different
pilot yesterday.
It's for a recurring Guest Star. I ask everyone to send some good thoughts my
way. Instead
of wallowing in my own self pity, I've decided to rally! I just say "it's going
to happen, it's
going to happen". In some way, that feels better than "life sucks, life sucks".
LOL!
Here is to hoping something pulls through this season. Odds say it will not
happen. That's
why most actors are superstitious and NEVER tell anyone about the stuff they are
up for. I
know why. It kills you to say, "I didn't get it". But this time I'm letting
y'all know so send
out some good energy for me into the universe, if you will :)
