Disney actually co-produced the series, so they were always involved.
(There's a prominent pair of Mickey Mouse ears in Amanda's room in, I
believe, the opening shot of the first episode.)

I don't expect it to be on DVD any time soon, because I don't think
the studios feel there is demand for it. I'm not sure who owns the
DVD rights, but if we knew, we could let them know there's interest!
