THE CAPTAIN AND THE KING
(Author's note and standard disclaimers. Only the plot belongs to me, and I
can't guarantee that no one else has thought of it. It'd cost you more to sue me
than I have money, so please don't. This is a Labyrinth/Ghost and Mrs. Muir
Crossover. However, Jareth reordered time so that everyone is in a slightly more
recent setting for convenience. Thanks to Chantal who told me Carolyn Muir's
maiden name. It was extraodinarily helpful)
On with the show.....
Carolyn Muir looked up from her computer screen, wondering again how she ever
survived without it. It had indeed been worth the argument with both Claymore
and Daniel to get a modem line put into Gull Cottage. Those two being on the
same side was a miracle in and of itself, but the Captain had adjusted. A
movement caught her eye and she watched what appeared to be a letter float down
to her.
"How refreshing," a disembodied voice noted dryly. "Someone still uses the
postal service."
"No matter how inefficient, she smiled, sticking out her hand for her mail.
"Oh, my dear, " Captain Gregg protested as he apperated, "I thought I could read
it to you, so you could keep on with your machine."
"You can read it, after me."
With a defeated sigh, the ghost gave up, opting to save his fights for something
worth it. "It appears to be from one of your relatives, Madam."
"Not cousin Harriet," Carolyn prayed.
"No, someone from your side of the family, the return address label says
Williams."
Glancing at it, she smiled. "My cousin, Thomas, Dad's nephew."
Even with her smile, Daniel had to mutter, loudly, "I hope he's not visiting in
hopes of meeting your captain." Seeing that walking jelly fish impersonate
himself was enough to make even a ghost feel ill.
"No," Carolyn said, reading. "But he asks if his daughter, Sarah, could spend
her college break here, a few weeks. She's - he says she's been in some kind of
chronic depression since she was sixteen, but despite his and her stepmother's
pushing, won't see a psychologist-"
"Wise young woman."
She ignored him. "Karen, the stepmother, refuses to let her come home unless she
gets treatment, doesn't want a bad influence on her son. And he hopes maybe the
sea air will refresh her a bit." Carolyn met Daniel's eyes. "I'd like to let her
come stay. I haven't seen her since before ---the children's father died. She
was a little girl, but very sweet, and imaginative."
Could he refuse her anything? No. "Make the arrangements, Madam. Will the
children be home from summer camp by the time she arrives?"
"I don't think Sarah would scar the children's psyche," Carolyn scowled. She
never had liked that woman her cousin married. Being around her might be enough
to make Sarah glum.
"I merely wondered. Candi and Jonathan might cheer her up a bit."
"Oh. Well, no they won't be. Maybe before she leaves."
The ghost nodded, fading out to tell Martha what was about to take place.
Two weeks later, Claymore ancient (he was too cheap to buy a newer, even more
fuel efficient one) car rolled up to Gull Cottage with Sarah Williams in the
passenger seat. He was being allowed entrance to his not uncle's ship to bring
Sarah, and had best be off as soon as he delivered her suitcases upstairs.
Daniel Gregg insisted on chivalry, and would have toted the bags himself, but
did not think Sarah would react well to seeing them float by themselves. If only
he knew....
Carolyn met them at the door. Ignoring Claymore's mumbled moans about his poor
back, she embraced the dark haired young woman with sad eyes who followed him.
Muffled barks from upstairs told them that Scruffy was not too happy about the
Captain keeping him stowed away so he couldn't jump their guest.
Hearing them, Sarah's face lit up. "Aunt Carolyn! You have a dog?"
"I'm your cousin, dear," Carolyn corrected, gently, hoping she didn't look that
old in her mid forties. You are lovely as always, a voice whispered, reading her
mind.
"Karen told me it would be respectful..."
"I don't see Karen anywhere. Her rules don't float on my ship," Carolyn replied
in mock sternness. "er, home. My home, not my ship."
Sarah smiled weakly. "No, I can see the shippiness."
By the time they reached the parlor where Daniel Gregg's painting presided and
Matha waited with tea, Claymore had moaned his way downstairs. Spying free food,
he homed towards it. A thunderclap halted his progress.
"It looked so sunny outside," Sarah noted, looking out the window. Not a cloud
was in the sky, but on the monkey puzzle branches, in the sunshine, sat a white
owl with wide, mismatched eyes. Her hand shook, she barely got her cup set down.
Carolyn followed her eyes. "What's wrong- oh- how - odd.."
Martha Grant looked up from watching Claymore scuttle out, tripping over his
feet. She saw the owl the two cousins were staring at. "I'll get my broom,
unless someone wants to scare it out of their tree.." she glared at the
painting.
"No!" Sarah yelped. "I'm sure it's- no point in upsetting him- it."
Carolyn looked up at Daniel's picture. Could Sarah see him or sense him? In her
ear, an invisible voice whispered. "I do not think I'm the him, Madam. There is
something unusual about that bird, but for the death of me, I don't know what."
The rest of the day was fairly uneventful. Carolyn and Martha gave Sarah a tour
of the house, both watching to see how she reacted to the attic and the
telescope, and not sure if they wanted her to be able to sense Daniel Gregg's
spectral prescence or not. It might be easier if he could pop at will while she
was here. The threat of him moving in with his "nephew" for the duration had
been the stick to make Claymore donate his time and car to pick her up.
After a beach picnic, Sarah, pleading jet lag, retired early. She had gone stark
white when Martha offered her a peach tart. Noting the circles even makeup could
not conceal, Carolyn did not argue. Looked as if she had not slept for years,
honestly.
Hours later, Daniel Gregg began making his nightly rounds, assuring himself that
all of his family was safe asleep. Years at sea honed his hearing, and that
carried over to his current life, making the soft sobs easy to hear. He knew
Caroyn's voice, and her sleep had been tearless for years now. Candy was not
there, though after a break up or two, she had sobbed in her sleep, but not as
much as the scoundrels who broke her little heart. Martha? No, the voice was
soft, young. Ah, Sarah. Recalling the slightly vitriolic tone of the letter
regarding her, he concluded there might be something to investigate. Fading into
her room, he saw the owl sitting on the window ledge. Nothing chilled his soul
like that bird's stare, well not since the ghost ship stole his powers. After
staring it down for a moment, he looked at Sarah.
She was muttering in her dreams. Tears shone in the moonlight. "find him... 13
hours...forever... don't.... Jareth!"
The last word came out as a whispered scream. She was near to waking, and if she
did, Daniel's chance to help would be gone. She was a sweet girl, as Carolyn
said, but more importantly, she was dear to someone dearer than anything to
himself. Pushing a soothing thought ahead, he sent himself into her dream.
Daniel found himself at a cotillion. Pity he couldn't summon Mrs. Muir. She was
a charming dancer. Looking around, he corrected his impression. Not a cotillion,
at least not such as he often made for Carolyn. A masked ball. Overhead, a clock
loomed menacingly. Something about it was off... thirteen hours were on the
face. It reminded him of a less than pleasant meeting with Claymore.
But thinking about barnacles did not get anything done, except raising his
nonexistant bloodpressure. Looking over the revelling crowd, he spotted Sarah in
a second. She was looking around, lost. Should he approach her?
Before he could decide, Daniel was distracted by a movement at the edge of the
room. The most outlandish looking not young, not old man was nearing Carolyn's
cousin. Had the idiot never met a barber? Perhaps the look was fashionable...
he'd have to ask Candace at some point, but good heavens, he hoped it wasn't. If
that was what young men looked like, he was going to lock Candi in the attic
until she was thirty five. Then, his eyes met the dandy's. The owl's eyes. The
young man turned to Sarah, whispered something to her, and suddenly, the dream
room vanished. Sarah's voice sobbed, "Jareth, I don't want to go."
An English accented voice soothed her. "Don't worry, precious thing. I just have
some - kingdom business to attend. Nothing too important. Someone might find
themselves in the bog for a bit, if they don't answer correctly," however, the
last words were muttered so low that she could not hear them. With a gallant,
sad smile, he kissed her forehead. "Do you believe in me yet, dear girl."
Daniel had never seen eyes as sad as hers. "I know you are just my dream."
Sighing, Jareth said, "Go back to sleep, princess." A Crystal appeared then,
exploding in a shower of stars, taking both men out of Sarah's mind.
Daniel found himself in his own attic, watchihng that Jareth fellow pour a glass
of HIS Madeira for each of them.
"So, old son, tell me how you got in Sarah's head, or I'll send you shoulder
deep to the bog of Eternal stench. Or, upside down, if I don't like the answer."
All this was said with a charming smile.
Taking the glass, mustn't waste a drop, after all, Daniel glared back. "I'll
think you to recall that this is my ship, and I don't take stowaways. Who are
you, and why shouldn't I toss you to the sharks?"
Jareth's face hardened. "Perhaps you don't know me, yet, so I will excuse your
insolence. I am Jareth I, King of the Twelve Fae Realms. Since you can dream
walk, that makes you one of my subjects, though I'm not familiar with you."
Captain Gregg was not sure what to make of this. "How does it concern Carolyn's
little cousin?"
"I asked first."
Both men were silent, staring each other down. Finally, Jareth sighed. "You must
be one of Sarah's kin. Such stubborness must be inherent in her family. Fine.
Sarah and I had something of an adventure a while back, but she can't admit it
was real, so we are both trapped in a half life. Your turn."
Captain Gregg scowled. Was it all some modern code talk, like Jonathan and Candi
spouted. He'd never forget when Candi, smiling, had yelped "SHUT UP," but not
meant pipe down, just that she was flabbergasted.
Well, claiming to be a Fae opened one up for answers like his. "I'm Daniel
Gregg, captain of Gull Cottage, and a ghost. As Captain, if someone's dream
sounds disturbed, I can as a ghost, look to see if there is trouble." He
shuddered mentally, remembering the mummy incident.
Jareth's mismatched eyes seemed to analyze his words. "And you love Carolyn
Muir," he said flatly. "Such a pity... always together, but not. If only you
could...ah.. touch her hand." His smirk was almost insufferable.
"Aye. If only."
"Seems we are in the same- boat, old son. "
"Carolyn believes in me." Daniel's protest was soft, betraying nothing, he
thought.
"But - has she always, or were you a dear delusion?"
Could he keep nothing from this Jareth?
"No, you can't." Another crystal appeared in his hands. "All your dreams,
Captain. All her dreams. Quite pretty, they are. If only... you two are patient,
she will be yours, forever. But Sarah is just as much mine as Carolyn is yours.
I love her," he admitted in a moment of raw, humble emotion. "And she loves me.
But this world, so scientific, tells her she is mad, so she is caught. Look at
the ball room, again, friend. "
A new crystal showed the empty room. No not empty. In a corner stood a statue of
Sarah. "It's the trapped Sarah, the one she reunites with each night to dream of
me. " The words were sad. "We met when she was a child. The child can believe in
me, but is afraid of my love. The woman needs my love, all my love. But can not
believe. She is trapped, as am I. When she entered my world, we were bound heart
and soul. Even if I wished to, we could not part. So, we are locked. When two
become one in my world, their lifeforces are joined. Ideally, Sarah would become
immortal, but in this state, it is more likely to kill us both."
Moved, Daniel asked, "How can I help, lad?"
Jareth paused, considering. "Make her believe. If she can do that, the rest is
done." Glancing out, "Sun's coming up. I'd best not leave the goblins alone too
long. I won't have a castle left, and I want it perfect. I trust you, Captain.
Don't let me down." Though he wanted the words to be a threat, they were a plea.
With that, he was gone. Daniel considered what to do as the sun's pink light
washed away the night's dreams. His plan crystalized as Martha began making
noises downstairs.
As Carolyn let Scruffy out while Martha set the table, Sarah came down, wrapped
in a caftan that reminded the invisible watcher of the ball gown, slightly. Her
cousin noted that the circles seemed deeper, the eyes more haunted.
Before good morning could leave Mrs. Muir's mouth, "trust me," flitted through
her mind.
Before the three women's startled eyes, the plates were removed from Martha's
hands, a fourth one added, and they began to float to the table.
"Captain, what in the blasted seven seas are you doing?" Carolyn sputtered.
"Helping Martha," he said innocently, materializing. "Put another hot cake on
the grill, please, Martha." Setting the last china piece down, he brought out a
rose for each lady, smiling gallantly.
Carolyn flushed. "This is - Danny Gregg. He's a mag-"
"Ghost, dear lady. The word is ghost, not old spookface, as Claymore claims."
Sarah sat down hard as he finished. "There are more things in heaven and earth,
Sarah, than in your dreams. "
"Horatio, imagination," Mrs. Muir corrected.
"Shakespeare got it wrong."
She swatted him, and the paper passed through his arm.
Sarah watched, wide eyed as an owl. "You - you are real. You are a ghost. But
ghosts are n"
"We are, dear girl. Don't deny the 'crystal clear truth.' It would be... such a
pity."
Abruptly, she rose. "I'm sorry, Carolyn, but- I - I wish the goblin king would
take ME away, right now."
Nothing heralded his appearance, but he was there before the w ended. "Finally,
you stubborn girl. Thank you, Captain. Look for your thank you tonight. I always
pay my debts." He shot both women a charming smile that completely made them
forget his odd hair and strange eyes. Then, he and Sarah both vanished.
"Captain..." Carolyn's voice demanded an explanation.
So, he told her about seeing Sarah weeping, entering her dream, and meeting the
king. "As my grandmother taught me the golden rule, what else could I do?"
Carolyn nodded, agreeing, though how she'd ever explain this !
That night, there was a grander ball than any dream had ever held, but it was
for two couples only. The wedding ball of a king and his princess, officiated by
a captain of dreams.

"Give me the child."
"Sarah, beware. I have been generous up until now, but I can be
cruel."
"Generous? What have you done that's generous?"
"EVERYTHING! Everything that you have wanted I have done. You
asked for the child to be taken, I took him. you have coward before
me, I was frightening. I have re-ordered time. I have turn the world
upside down and I have done it all for you. I'm tired of living up
to your expetations of me. Is'nt that generous enough?"
Sarah gave him a cold stare.
"Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I have fought
my way here to the castle, beyond the goblin city, to take back the
child that you have stolen. For my will is as strong as yours, and

"Stop! Wait- look what I'm offering you, Sarah. Your dreams."
Now Sarah was stuck. Would she choose her family- or her dreams?
"I- I don't know!"
Black clouds formed around her as she started to hear screams.
~*~
Sarah jolted out of bed. Sweat trickled down her forehead and
her breathing was harsh.
Screams of frustration came from the other side of the room.
"Oh, baby! Don't cry, don't cry." Sarah said comfortly,
scooping up the baby and cradling him in her arms.
The baby started to calm down. Sarah walked Toby around the room.
Oh, man, I can't wait till I have kids on my own. Sarah
thought.
~*~
"Thank you so much for baby sitting Toby last night, Sarah. I
know what a pain in the neck he can be sometimes."
"Oh, no problem, Karen. Listen, I'm got to go to the park
this afternoon." Sarah said, grabbing her backpack that had art
supplies and one special thin red book in it.
"OOH! Sarah's got a date!" Karen taunted.
Sarah smiled. "Something like that." She said goodbye to her
stepmother, who turned out to be not that bad, and walked out the
door.
~*~
The now 16 year old ran down to the park. Once she got there,
she went onto the highest hill and sat on the flat rock that she
situated there. She grabbed her art book and pencils and stared to
draw the people down below her with no interruption. Everything was
perfect.
~*~
"YOU SLEPT WITH HER!!!! UGH!!! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE, YOU PILE
OF FILTH!!!!!" Sarah heard Karen scream as she santered up to the
front door.
Dad had another one of his affairs. she didn't understand why her
father acted the way he did. She also didn't understand why Karen
didn't divorce him.
Regretfully, Sarah walked into the house. She saw Toby on the
floor, crying his eyes out. He never liked it when his mommy and
daddy fight.
Poor thing. Sarah thought as she picked him up and brought him
upstairs.
Karen saw what Sarah did and silently thanked her. No 2 year old
needs to see this. No one does.
~*~
5 YEARS LATER..........
Sarah had the same dream over and over again, but what did it
mean?
~*~
She saw Karen and her father in custody court for children.
The judge saw that Toby goes with his moher, Karen.
"Oh, good! Now Sarah comes with me!" Sarah's dad said.
"No, Mr. Williams. Sarah is old enough to decide where
she wants to go." the judge said.
Her father kept saying to come with him. But she looked up at
Karen.
Sarah silently got up off her chair and went to stand by Karen.
Karen hugged her happily with tears running down her face.
After court her father called her a bitch. And that was the last
time she ever saw of her father.
~*~
Sarah cried. She hugged herself into a little ball on her bedroom
floor and cried.
Her father was dead. HER father.
He had been dead for two years. But his wife then, who they also
didn't know about, didn't tell them.
Now she was fatherless.
She had been for two years.
"I WISH THE GOBLIN KING WOULD COME AND TAKE ME AWAY RIGHT
NOW!"
And he did.
The End.
CHAPTER 1
"Two more days,Sarah," April said, "and you'll be sweet 16!"
Sarah's friend enthusiastically jumped around her room. Sarah
had to laugh at her friend's crazy antics. April always found a way
to make the day better.
"I know! I know! What was 16 like?" Sarah asked.
"Now, I don't know, it was a long time ago." April
explained.
"It was only three months ago, stupid!" Sarah said,
throwing a pillow at April.
April, dodging the incoming pillow, said:
"That dosen't mean anything!" and laughed.
Sarah watched as the pillow hit a doll on her desk. The doll fell
to the floor with a thud.
"OH NO!!!" she yelled, not noticing April looking at her. As
Sarah ran across the room, April exclaimed:
"WHAT?! What happened?"
"Jareth..." Sarah whispered.
"Sarah, what's going on?" April asked, bringing Sarah back
to reality.
Sarah, fibbing, replied:
"Oh, nothing. My doll's arm just broke."
"Is that all?" April continued, ignoring Sarah's annoyed
look on her face, "Here. Let me see it."
Sarah hesitantly placed the Jareth doll in her hands.
Would April be able to fix it? Sarah
thought.
"Please be careful..." Sarah tried to start.
"I will, I will." April cutted in. "There! Good and better!
Looks brand new, dosen't he?"
"THANK GOD!!!" Sarah exclaimed as she grabbed the doll and
clutched it to her chest. April watched in wonder. She had never
seen Sarah like this, ever. Not before, anyway. But why is she doing
this? April wondered, confused.
"Sarah? Why are you hugging that doll?" April finally asked
after a fleeing moment of thought.
"Huh? I'm not hugging it! I was just ... polishing it!"
Sarah said defensively, rubbing a peice of her shirt on the doll's
face.
"Uh-huh, ok girl." April mockingly said."Now, come on our
movie is about to start!"
As April and Sarah left to go see her mother's new film, Sarah
wandered what Jareth was doing now.
April wanted to know what had happened to Sarah.
CHAPTER 2
"Mmmm....." Jareth sighed
"What is the matter, m'lord?"
"Something is not quite right..." Jareth looked around.
Finally, he looked down at a cake."There!!!!"
"What, m'lord?" a goblin asked.
"Right there! There is an "H" after Sarah!"
"Sorry, m'lord!"
"Don't be sorry, just get it fixed!!!!"
"Ok, m'lord. I'll bring it to the town's baker to get it
fixed right away!" The goblin hurridley said, grabiing the cake and
running.
Why must I deal with low-life little scabs? Jareth, the all-
mighty goblin king, thought. Everything must be perfect for her
birthday! I can't bring her down here to a surprise party where
there are faults!!!!!!!
Walking to his throne, he thought about Sarah. He had fallen
in love with her when she was first born. And she finally knew that
he existed only 9 months ago. His heart was still broken from the
time when she defeated him.
"You have no power over me."
Those words still rung in his head for hours on end. He was
still heart broken when he had to let her go. If it was his choice,
Sarah would have stayed there. But, alas, it was not meant to be.
Not then, anyway.
Oh, good. Here comes Higgle.
"Mornin', yer majesty." Hoggle cheerfully greeted.
"Good morning to you, too, Hog-wart."
"Oh, its Hoggle!"
"So sorry, old chap. Now, what have we here?" Jareth asked
when he saw a leather pouch in Hoggle's hand.
"Oh. Oh tis! Yeah, it's a present for Miss Sarah. It's a
jeweled necklace I made. Did you want to see it?" Hoggle asked, all
of the sudden very clumsy.
"Sure, Higgle." Jareth said
"Oh, it's Hoggle. Here ya go, m'lord." Hoggle hesitantly
handed the pouch to Jareth
Jareth carefully examined the beautiful, red jeweled brooch
on a pearl necklace chain.
"Huggle..." Jareth started.
"Hoggle!" Hoggle interuppted, but Jareth did not seem to
care.
"It's...beautiful." Jareth said, amazed at the fine hand
work.
"Why, thank you, m'lord." Hoggle said, breaking Jareth's
train of thought.
Jareth, quickly getting back into the swing of things, said:
"Here, Hugglo. You are dismissed."
Hoggle let that version of his name go." Goodbye, yer
majesty. See ya later."
Hoggle waddled out of the door.
Good dwarf. Jareth thought. Now, Sarah, it's your turn.
CHAPTER 3
"Wow, that was a good movie." Sarah said.
"Damn straight!" April said. "But there is still one more
present for you."
April rushed over to her car, a small red station wagon, and
opened the door. All of the sudden, Jareth, King of the Goblins,
pops out.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WHO ARE
YOU?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!" April screamed. Sarah quick ran to her,
and stopped in mid air.
"YOU!" Sarah screamed.
"Happy Sweet 16 birthday, Sarah. I brought you a gift."
Jareth said, as a crystal ball appeared in his hand.
"What is it?" Sarah asked.
"WHOA!Wait one minute! Who are you, how do you know Sarah,
and can I go home?" April asked, screaming.
"I'm Jareth, an old friend of Sarah's, and, yes, you can go
home." Jareth calmly said.
"Is it okay, Sarah? Can I trust you with him?" April, who
was confused, asked.
"Yeah, yeah!You can go home." Sarah implied.
After the goodbyes, Sarah looked at Jareth. He was still
standing there, in his black leather outfit, still holding the
crystal ball. Sarah remember, quite clearly, that the first time
they met, she was scared. VERY SCARED. Almost frightened. But now,
for some strange reason or another, it kind of felt comforting to
look into those big, mis-matched eyes of his.
"Well?" Sarah asked.
"Well what?" Jareth answered
"What's the gift?" Sarah said back.
"A message from Sir Didymus." Jareth replied.
Is that all? Sarah wondered
"Well... can I see it or not?"Sarah asked.
Jareth, who was admiring her beauty, snapped back to earth.
He tossed the crystal ball to Sarah as she caught it and firmly
grasped it. Inside the crystal, Sarah saw Sir Didymus formally
inviting her to a surprise birthday party for her dear old friend,
Hoggle. Sarah was amazed.
"No way! It's Hoggle's birthday, too?" Sarah asked again.
Jareth said mockingly:
"Yes way!" then he formally continued:
"Would you go? With me?"
Sarah was speechless. She did know that the Goblin King was
smart, handsome and talented, but she did not know he had a small
sense of humor.
"Oh, ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........Okay?" Sarah sheepisly
answered.
All of the sudden the crystal ball floated out of her hands
and exploded, with a soft bang, in the air above their heads.
CHAPTER 4
Glitter, stars and ribbons floated around Jareth and Sarah
like a sweeping tornado. Sarah looked around at the colors, colors
she has not even seen before. Then Sarah gazed into Jareth's soft,
blue and brown eyes. Then, without warning, Sarah wrapped her arm
around Jareth's warm body. Jareth, surprised but extremely glad,
immediately returned the favor, and they stared into eachother's
eyes. As they both leaned in a little, all of the sudden they both
heard a bunch of creatures yell:
"SURPRISE!!!!"
Sarah and Jareth quickly seperated, Sarah regretting it at
first, it had been so nice. But then she screamed:
"OH MY GOD!!!!! Is all this for me?" Sarah was really
excited.
"Yes, Sarah. Surprise!" Jareth laughed out.
"Hoggle! Sir Didymus! Ludo! Oh my god, hi!" Sarah screamed
out to her friends.
Jareth decided to stay in the corner of the crowded throne
room. For once in his life, he was actually scared to be in the
crowd. After a couple of hours, everyone went home. Sarah looked
around for Jareth, and found him sitting on the window sill, looking
down at the Labyrinth.
"Hey, stranger, where were you all night?" Sarah asked.
"Here. I just thought you would want to be with your
friends. So, are you ready to go home?" Jareth asked.
"What? Just like that? You would let me?" Sarah said,
surprised.
"Yes. It was not an obligation for you to be here." Jareth
replied.
"Well, it's kind of late. Can I go home in the morning?"
Sarah asked.
"Whatever you want." Jareth said.
Jareth led her up three flights of stairs when they finally
arrived in a big, airy master bedroom. Sarah looked around the room,
and said in awe:
"Whoa. This is my room?"
"Yes, what did you think, I'll put you in the old laundry
room? I'm not that cruel, Sarah." Jareth answered.
"No, no, it's just....really, really, big. Bigger than my
room, Toby's room and the kitchen combined." Sarah commented.
"Well, goodnight Sarah. Pleasant dreams."
Sarah was gazing in his mis-matched eyes again. Without
thinking, she walked over and embraced him. It made her feel whole,
it really suited her. They layed down on the bed, when Sarah quickly
pushed him off the bed, and Jareth fell with a thud on the floor.
"Owww.........." Jareth complained, rubbing his butt.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I just got so..." Sarah atammered out.
But Jareth sushed her with another kiss and left the room.
I'm never going to feel the same way again. Sarah thought.
I'm never going to feel the same way again. Jareth thought.
He walked down the hall to his room and collapsed on his bed. Off
came the boots and shirt. Jareth layed on top of the bed.
The way she walks,
The way she talks,
I will never get her out of my mind.
They both, in different rooms, drawled off to sleep.
CHAPTER 5
A monster howled at dawn. Jareth slowly drew from the bed. He
walked to his closet and picked out his attire for the day. Nothing
could go wrong.
Shit! She wants to go back home today!
All of the sudden, his mood started to get more depressed. He
slowly walked down the hall, where he saw Sarah walking around,
looking for something.
"May I be of some assistance, my lady?" Jareth politely
asked.
Sarah, shocked to see him and in her disgusting condition,
asked:
"Where's the bathroom?"
"Right here." Jareth answered, pointing at a door they were
right in front of.
"Oh, thank you. See you in....10 minutes?" Sarah said.
"I will be in the throne room, awaiting your arrival, fair
maiden." he took Sarah's hand and gently brushed his lips upon it.
Why am I melting? He is just the guy I love!! Sarah
foolishly thought. She looked around the bathroom.
All of the sudden, her toothbrush and hair brush were sitting
on the sink's counter.
Now that is what I called friendly hospitalitey!!!!
~****************************************~
"All right!" Jareth proclaimed.
"What? It's just me!" Sarah said.
She's beautiful, Jareth thought, It's like, when she enters
the room, I change.
I hope he is not mad about last night, Sarah thought, Or I
am gonna cry!!!!!!!
"Your beautiful, Sarah." Jareth finally said, impulsively.
I love his voice!!! I makes me think of every good time I
have ever had!!!!! Sarah thought.
As they walked down the hall, Sarah suddenly stopped.
What? Jareth thought.
Sarah peeked in a room, Jareth's private library, and pulled
him inside. She locked the door, and put her arms around his neck.
Sarah pulled Jareth's head towards her and locked his lips on hers.
Should I go on? Jareth thought. Just then, Sarah started
nipping on his neck. Jareth corosed her on the couch.
There is no God, Sarah thought, there is only what you want.
CHAPTER 6
Two hours passed and Sarah wakes up. She looks around and
finds a dozen red roses and an envelope on the coffee table. She
picked up the roses and they smelt like honeysuckle.
I wonder what honeysuckle smells like... Sarah wondered. She
carefully picked up the envelope and ran her fingers along it. As
she opened the package, the smell of Jareth's cologne wafted up to
her. She read the letter:
My love-
I am terribly sorry, but I have to
go do important
buisness that needs to be attended
to. I will be
back shortly. Then we will talk
about you
going home. Truthfully, I really
don't want you
to go. But it is your choice. See you
in 4 hours.
Love,
Jareth
"Four hours? When did he leave?" Sarah asked curiously.
All of the sudden, gold letters appeared at the bottom of
Jareth's letter.
P.S- I left 3 hours ago, Sarah.
"Oh, how convienent."
Sarah grabbed her pants and slipped them on. Yanking her shirt
over her shoulders, there came a soft knocking on the door.
"Sarah? Are you in there?" a kind voice asked.
"Hoggle!!! Come in!!!!" Sarah greeted.
She bent down to give Hoggle a quick hug.
"How are you?" Sarah asked.
"Never better. I finally reached me goal! 300 fairies! Cor!"
Hoggle explained.
"Wow. I never knew there could be so many fairies!" Sarah
said, amazed.
"Yes, missy, there are! Sarah, would ya like ta take a
walk?" Hoggle shakingly asked.
"Sure Hoggle!!!!!" Sarah answered.
Sarah quicked glanced around the library, looking for her socks
and shoes. They were under Jareth's desk, where Sarah saw another
box. She gazed at the beautiful black velvet box for 5 seconds and
saw a single tag on it. As she read the tag, it was for her! A late
sweet sixteen present from Jareth! She picked up the smooth black
velvet box and sat on the floor. She called to Hoggle, who was still
by the bookcase:
"What's this?" she asked.
Sarah opened the box and saw a small ring with a red jewel on it.
It looked almost like the ring that- that she gave the wiseman and
his silly talking bird hat!
"Oh my god!!!! Hoggle!!! Come and see this!!!!" Sarah
exclaimed.
"I already have." Jareth's voice answered back. He stood
there with a dozen more white roses.
"Oh, hi! You are home early!!!" Sarah, who did not know what
to say, said.
"Do you want to go home?" Jareth asked.
Sarah thought about it for a minute. She answered:
"No, but..."
"Then you want to stay!!!" Jareth said, happily.
"No, but..." Sarah started.
"But? What but? You said you don't want to go, then you do,
now their is a 'but'!" Jareth proclaimed.
"Hey, don't get mad at me! You don't even listen!!! You just
jump into stuff!!!! What if I did not want to come here?" Sarah
argued.
"Ah, you see, but you did!"
"That's only because you tricked me saying it was Hoggle's
Birthday!!!"
"No, I didn't. It was a surprised party for you, my sweet!
If I would have told you the truth, you wouldn't believe me! It was
YOUR fault!!!!"
"Well, maybe you shouldn't have made an advance to me last
night!"
"Ah, you see, you did this morning! I want that back!"
Jareth said, as he grabbed the roses back. "Here you go!" Jareth
screamed.
A crystal ball flew up in the air and bursted around Sarah.
Black glitter, red ribbons, and grey fire spun around her like a
volcano. Then, she was gone.
"Oh no!" Hoggle said.
"What?" Jareth asked, being annoyed.
"She took your ring!"
"Let her keep it. It's no use to me anyway." Jareth spoke,
as he turned around and walked out the door.
Just then, Hoggle glanced down at his wrist. He saw the guady
bracelet that Sarah gave him. But to him it was gold. It was
friendship.
Now he was going to help his friend. But how?
CHAPTER 7
Sarah was in her room. She quick jumped on her bed and sobbed
in her pillows. Sarah never wanted this. No one would want this. Not
even...
"Hello Sarah! Are you home?"
.....April.
"Up here." Sarah said morbily.
"Why are you still in those clothes?" April said admiring
Sarah's neat hair, and her brushed teeth.
"I was out having coffee last night with my friend-"
"Who looked like a medevil king-"
"Who just got off of work-"
"Doing what?" April asked.
"ACTING! Would you stop analyzing me?!"
"Sorry Sarah. Your right...please continue." April
apoligized.
"Anyway, we got talking-" Sarah started.
"About what?" April cutted in.
"Stop! About whats new and everything, and I got in late. I
just went to bed." Sarah finally said, lying through her teeth.
"Something's different about you..." April wondered.
She wanted to know what happened between the tall, blonde hair
man and her best friend. It was the glow in Sarah's face, the
sadness in her eyes, that made April think.
"Where exactly did you go?" April asked seriously.
Sarah, knowing not to argue, shakingly grabbed the Jareth doll
and held it gently. April noticed the amazing similarity between the
doll and the man. She suddenly realized, she heard stories from
Sarah, read the book, and looked at the doll.
"Sarah?" April asked. "He's real, isn't he?"
"Yes." Sarah, who was crying at the time, answered."It's all
real."
"You went with him all night?"
"Yes." Sarah answered.
"Why? No, wait- you love him. He tricked you. You had
thirteen hours and when you reached him, you got to go home.Right?"
"No!" Sarah said defensively.
"Then what?!" April asked. She wanted the truth. The
straight truth.
C'mon Sarah, you can tell me! April thought.
"Then what?!?!" April repeated. "Tell me."
Sarah sighed. "After you left, he told me that there was a
surprise party for my friend, Hoggle. I fell for that trick, and
Jareth and I went Underground, to the castle." Sarah partly
explained.
"And?" April anxiously asked.
"And the party," Sarah started,"was for me. So I stayed and
partied. After the party, it was to late into the night. Jareth
showed me to the guest bedchamber. I slept, woke up, had breakfast,
and came home."
"That was all?" April asked, displeased.
From the way Sarah talked about her adventure in the Labyrinth,
April figured the second trip would be more, how youn say...robust.
But maybe Sarah didn't tell the WHOLE story...
"That is not the whole story!" April proclaimed. "Tell
me!!!!!"
"WHY DO I HAVE TO YOU?!?!" Sarah fired back. "I actually
want a couple of secrets to keep to myself!!!!!!!"
"Well, I know that you know that I'll eventually know what
you know!" April yelled.
"Yeah, but-" Sarah started.
"'But' nothing!! Tell me!!!!" April said, lunging at Sarah.
Sarah, turning away so April wouldn't hurt her, said:
"NO!!!!"
"Tell me!!!!!!"
"NO, I WON'T!!!
"TELL ME, SARAH!!!!!!!"
"Nothing happened!!! Leave me alone!!!!"
Just then, Sarah's father came into the room.
"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?"
"She wants to know something about me, and I won't tell her.
Would you please escort her out, Dad?" Sarah asked calmly.
"Ok, Sarah. Come on, April. I'll escort you to your car."
Sarah's father said, holding his arm out to take April away.
It was silent for one minute.
"Come on, Ms. Shasoo." Sarah's father agian said.
April got up off the floor and walked towards the door. As
soon as ashe hit the doorway, she said:
"I wish that the Goblin King would come and take you away."
April finally said "Right now."
Sarah, with her eyes brimmed with tears. watched the one
bestfirend above ground, go away. Had she meant those words?
I wonder if...
Just then, a gold spark came from the window. In a second,
Sarah was gone. April saw this. She quick ran up the deck stairs to
Sarah's window.
He was there. Sitting on the chair in her desk area.
"Where is she?" April Asked, crying.
"Underground. Do you want to look for her?"Jareth asked
"Yes, please. I have to find her!"
"She 's there." He points at his castle." In my castle."
" Take me to her!" April screamed.
"I won't. You have to solve the Labyrinth."
"What?" April asked
"You have 13 hours in which to solve the Labyrinth, before
Sarah has to stay her forever. Such a pity to you, but a treasure
to me."
Jareth said, vanishing.
"God. The Labyrinth. Well, I have to do it." April said
walking towards it.
Just then she saw a dwarf with white hair. he was sitting there
looking at some jewels.
"Excuse me, uhhh, sir! Do you know a way into the
Labyrinth?"April politely asked.
"Oh,ah, yes, why are you here?" the dwarf asked.
" I'm looking for my friend, Sarah. The king took-" April
started.
" Jareth took Sarah?Well, C'mon then! Let's go!" the dwarf
said
" Who are you?" April asked
"Hoggle You?"
"April. Its nice to meet you Higgle"
"Hoggle."
April followed Hoggle inti the door of the Labyrinth.
"Oh, there it is! thank you Hoggle!" April said, running
into the Labyrinth.
She stopped short. There were 2 ways to go. then she put
herself into Sarah's mind. She went lef. After a while, she finally
was about to give up.
"WHY ISN'T THERE A TURN?!?" April screamed
"God, don't get your panties in a twist.Walk through the
wall." a voice appeared.
"Who said that?" April shakingly asked.
"BEHIND YOU! God!"
April turned around.
"NOW where are you?" she asked.
"Up!" April looked up. "Hello!"
"What are you?" April asked, wondering.
"Well, above ground I'm a racoon, and Underground I am...
still...a racoon." the creature explained.
"Don't be silly! Racoons can't talk!" April blurted out.
"Ah, you see, this is a land where everything seems possible
and nothing is what it seems. So do not take anything for granted,
uh....."
"April. You?" April introduced.
"I am of a rare species. My family here is extinct, and,
sadly, I am the only one left. I'm the heir. My name is Mark!!!" the
racoon said, holding up to fingers in a peace symbol when saying his
name.
"Oh." April said.
"What may I help you with?" Mark asked.
"Do you possibly know how to get through the Labyrinth?"
April asked.
"Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm........let me see....." Mark said, looking
around. "Ummmm........ no."
"Well, yar no help!!!" Hoggle said.
"Well, excuse me, Mr. Speech impetiment! I do know that you
can walk throught that wall right there to get you on the start of
your journey." Mark sassed back.
"Thanks!!!!!" April said, grateful enough that she got some
direction.
"Wait, fair maiden, I will go with thee!" Another strange
voice appeared.
"Who are you?" April asked.
"Huh? Sir Didymus?" Hoggle said.
"Sir Hoggle!!! How nice to see you again!!!!" Sir Didymus
greeted.
"Ok, so now I have two of Sarah's friends-" April started.
"-And me!!!" Mark said.
"-And Mark. Now, where is the third one?" April finished.
Both Hoggle and Sir Didymus bowed their heads in respect. April
knew that something happened.
"Poor Ludo......" Hoggle started.
"Yes, poor Ludo...." Sir Didymus said, but was cut off by
April.
"I don't think I want to know." April said.
"No, no, it's all right. Ya see, after we had a party at
Sarah's, Ludo stepped into the mirror to go home and lost himself
into another world." Hoggle explained.
"Yes, but let's go! We have to save Sarah!" Mark said,
breaking the silence.
"Right!" the rest of the gang said.
Sarah, April thought, I wonder what you are doing now?
CHAPTER 8
"Why did you bring me here AGAIN?!?!?!?!?!" Sarah screamed
to Jareth as loud as she could.
"I had to. It was an obligation." Jareth answered. He was
still mad at her beyond belief.
"AN OBLIGATION!?!?!?!?!?!" Sarah once again screamed.
"YES!!!" Jareth yelled back, then continued more calmly."I
have to grant every wish that comes to me, or my magic, and myself
included, would disappear."
Sarah, being blinded with rage, saddness, and utter confusion,
asked:
"WHO WISHED ME HEAR?"
Jareth, using one of his amazing talents, disguised his voice
like April's:
"I wish the Goblin King would come and take you away RIGHT
NOW!!!"
Oh, shit! Wait a minute.....
"YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME!!!!!" Sarah enthusiastically
said, hoping she would go home.
"That won't work." Jareth said, amused.
"Why not?" Sarah asked.
"Your friend has to say it, not you!"
Damn!! Sarah thought.
"No,no,no,no,no!" Sarah said, crying.
"I have a surprise for you, Sarah." Jareth said, breaking
Sarah's train of thought. "If you would, please, follow me." Turning
away, he started walking to a window.
Sarah really had no choice. She hesitantly walked toward the
window, where Jareth and her met before.
"There." Jareth said, pointing at a part of the
Labyrinth. "Is your friend. She is looking for you. Quite a young
spirit. Now, would you join me for dinner?"
Sarah, uncertain of what to do, agreed. Why argue when you were
going to be in the castle awhile? Besides, she was hungry. What
could it hurt?
CHAPTER 9
It hurt. ALOT.
She woke up an hour later in Jareth's bedchamber!!!!!!!
Shit, what did I just do? Oh, I know what I did! Why did I
do it? Why?! Why?!?! Sarah thought.
Jareth, feeling Sarah tossing and turning, thought:
Did I just take advantage of her? Shit! Double Shit! Double
bloody shit!
Both, at the same time, jumped out of the bed with sheets and
blankets.
"No, no, no! This did not just happen!" Sarah said.
Jareth looked to the floor, his feelings hurt. This was the
woman he loved who denied it. To his surprise, he was actually
about... to ...cry... NO! Not now. He had a job to attend to. He
turned around and got dressed the fastest way he knew how: magic.
"10 hours and 5 minutes. Time to go see your friend." With
that, and a stolen kiss, Jareth left Sarah standing by the bed.
Why do I feel like I'm gloating? Could I be in.... Sarah
lost her train of thought when a guy suddenly broke into the room.
The man did not notice Sarah at all as she jumped in between the
blankets and sheets. From the back, he looked a lot like Jareth.
"I coulsd have sworn I left it here.....ah! There it is!"
The guy went and lifted off the blankets, revealing Sarah.
"Sarah, I was only gone for 10 minutes." Jareth said.
"Oh, it's you! I didn't notice...." Sarah stopped as she
peered into Jareth's eyes. Blue and brown flickered through them
with passion.
She slowly went and kissed him on the lips. Jareth's warm arms
snuggled around her waist.
Sarah, with a sly grin, started to fumble with the buttons on
his poet's shirt. Frustrated, she ripped it down the middle. She
tossed it to the floor.
"Sarah, that was my favorite shirt!!!!" Jareth gasped out.
"Tough." Sarah said playfully as they both started to make
love.
CHAPTER 10
Sarah woke up.
What happened? she thought as she looked over and found
Jareth laying by her side. She put her arm around his chest and
hugged him.
"Morning." Jareth groggily replied. He looked at the clock
on his wall.
"9 hours and 23 minutes. I have to go."
A quick change of clothes, a stolen kiss and Jareth was gone
once again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*************************~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"There are SO many twists and turns!!!! How are we ever
going to get to the castle in time?!?!?!?!" April complained.
"Well, if you stop complaining,and think a different way,
you might actually get some work done." A strange voice appeared. It
happen to be the Goblin King. "You guys are helping her, right?" he
asked.
"No, no! I was leading her back to the beginning, yer
majesty." Hoggle hastily replied.
"WHAT?!?!?!?!?!" April screamed.
"Higble....." Jareth started.
"Hoggle!" Hoggle corrected.
"Whatever. You told me that before and you were lying. Why
do you it now you deceitful little scab?" Jareth slpit through
Hoggle.
"Because...." Hoggle spated out.
"Because of what? Friends?" Jareth asked.
"It don't matter."
April cutted in. " Look, I have little time left to solve this
damn maze and I am going to solve without your 'great' help,
Hoggle!!!!" April stormed off with Sir Didymus and Mark.
CHAPTER 11
"Oh dear, poor Hoghead!"
"Hoggle."
"Yeah. Anyway, why do you always do that when yuor friends
need you the most?"
"Do what?" Hoggle asked.
"YOU ACTUALLY HAVE FRIENDS, BUT YOU TURN ON THEM. THEY
FORGIVE YOU UNTIL IT BECOMES A PATTERN. PEOPLE WOULD KILL FOR THAT.
YOU ARE ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES!!!"
Jareth started to calm down, Hoggle was sitting by on a hedge,
face in hands, crying.
"Oh come, come, come, Hogble. Surely you think that your
life is horrible, but why do you think I put you in the oubliette to
live?" Jareth asked.
"So people would forget-" Hoggle started morbilly.
"No! So you could do and have anything you want. You were
free all the time. You just assumed that everyone hates you, Hogeg."
"Well, don't they?" Hoggle asked.
"No, they just don't know you. And if you were a little open
to affection and more social, you could have friends. Do not throw
your life away." Jareth said.
"Then why did you put me in a place to forget about me?"
Hoggle asked.
"So I wouldn't see you suffer." Jareth calmly explained.
"Why then?"
"Because no one deserves to suffer."
CHAPTER 12
"Well, he was a lot of help." April thought out loud.
"Excuse me, fair maiden, if I made had a word?" Sir Didymus
asked.
"Sure Didymus." April agreed.
"It was only 9 months ago when Lady Sarah made her journey
through here. No one even tried to stop her, she was determined."
Sir Didymus started.
"Yeah, so?" April asked, while the three friends continued
walking.
"Fair Sarah was his only friend." Sir Didymus started
April cutted in. "Ever?"
"Ever. And Sir Hoggle, well, was never intune with his
affection. Maybe it was because of his dreadful past, I am not
certain." Sir Didymus explained.
"What happened?" April asked, now curious.
"No one knew why, but Sir Hoggle's father disappeared. His
poor mother, Gods rest her soul, unfortunately past away during
childbirth. Fair Lady Vivienne raised him, and did not treat him
with tender, loving care that a young lad should have." Sir Didymus
went further.
"And?" April asked, in wonderment.
"And lets just say its hell!" Hoggle's voice said.
"Come on! I am tired of listening to you people talk while
we got to go save a damsel! Get a move on!" Mark loudly said.
"Right!!!" Everyone else said.
They finally went through the hedge maze, and went into the
forest. Hoggle went to go pick berries and said that he'll catch up
later.
"I wonder....." April said.
She walked into a clearing.
"Goblin king! Goblin king! I need to talk to you! Where are
you?" April screamed.
"Why are you doing that?" Mark asked.
"Maybe she is giving up." Jareth said, appearing.
"No, I was not going to give up. Friends don't givew up on
friends." April said defensively.
"Really? But they do wish them away, right?" Jareth asked
calmly.
"I just had a question!!!!!!!!!!" April almost yelled,
flying her arms in the air.
"I just have an answer!" Jareth said, mimicing April.
She is so easy to get infuriated!!! Jareth thought.
"What are fireys?" April asked, annoyed.
"That you have to find out on your own." With that, Jareth
grabbed Sir Didymus and vanished.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~********************~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Your majesty, what is the matter?" Sir Didymus asked,
baffled.
"YOU. I am forbiding anyone who helps the girl. Why did you
help her?" Jareth asked, furiously. It was because April was getting
nearer and he wanted Sarah to stay.
"I..... I.... I wanted to see Lady Sarah, M'lord."
"PLEASE DON'T!!!! I am sending you back to the Bog now."
Jareth said, tossing a crystal to Sir Didymus.
In an instant, Sir Didymus was home.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~********************************~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Mark?" April asked, noticing her only friend was gone.
"MARK!" April yelled. Where is he?
"MARK!!!! MARK!!!! MA-RK!!!!!"
-Tap tap tap-
"Whats going on?" April wandered.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HA HA HA HA
HA HA HA!!!!!!!" Firey 1 screamed.
"What the hell do you want?" April asked protectively.
"We just out to have a good time!!!!!!!!!! HA HA!!!!" Firey
2 said.
"Yeah!" Firey 3 said.
"That's right!!!!" Number 4 said.
Firey 5 sang:
Don't have no problems!!!
-No problems-
Don't have no suitcase
-No suitcase-
Don't have no clothes to worry about!
-No clothes to worry about-
"Hold up! Hold everything! Besides singing and dancing, do
any of you.... things..... know how to get to the castle at the
center of this here Labyrinth?" April asked, somewhat amused.
Firey 1 chanted:
Castle? Castle! Yes we do!!!
"Show me then!" April said.
"Wait - do you want this peach?" Firey 2 asked.
"Thank you!!! You are a life saver! I'm starved!"
April bit into the peach, its juices flowing into her mouth.
This tastes strange, she thought. By then all of the fireys were
away. April stumbled a few steps, hallucinating. Then she fell to
the ground with a thud. She drawled off to a deep sleep.
CHAPTER 13
Sarah walked down the hall to the kithen.
I'm hungry..... Sarah thought. Score! Doritos! Wait- how did
this get here? Oh, well! Snack away!
Sarah trotted down to Jareth's throne room. Jareth was peering
into a crystal. He really had his eyes set on it. Sarah took a peek.
"APRIL!!!!" Sarah screamed.
"Firey gave her a peach. I'm trying to wake her up." Jareth
lied. He actually wanted April to sleep longer so he could keep
Sarah. But when Sarah entered the room, he changed his mind.
"What is up with that peach thing?" Sarah wondered.
"My cousin had an affair with a farmer's daughter, whom
harvested peaches. When she told my cousin she did not want to see
him anymore, he killed her and her family. They never had a chance."
Jareth partly explained.
"Oh, harsh! What about the peaches?" Sarah asked.
"Lord Marcan, my cousin, put a spell on each peach here that
any human would dream when eaten." Jareth explained further.
"Oh. Why humans?" Sarah pryed in further.
"His lover was human." Jareth explained, watching April get
up in the crystal ball.
"Here then." Sarah said, dropping a peach in his hand. "And
I had a craving, too."
Jareth threw the peach out of the window. He looked into
Sarah's eyes.
"Wow."
"What?" Sarah asked.
"Your beautiful." Suddenly very nervous, Jareth wringed his
gloved hands. Would you like to join dinner with me? is what he
actually wanted to say, but instead:
"Dinner you care would with me?" Jareth slapped himslef on
the forehead. He had many lovers before, but Sarah made him feel,
look, and act... different.
Sarah had never seen the Goblin King like this before.I was
funny and strangely touching at the same time. Laughing, she agreed
with:
"Yes, Jareth! I would love to have dinner with you."
Jareth sighed.
"YOUR HIGHNESS! YOUR HIGHNESS!" A goblin said, running in.
"What?" Jareth asked.
"THE GIRL! She is almost through the dump with Sire Mark
now! He found her!" the goblin almost yelled.
Sarah felt half enjoyed, but also half morbib. Would she
leave her friend.... or her love?
"What do you want?" Jareth asked Sarah.
"SHE'S HERE! SHE'S HERE!!!" the goblin cried out.
CHAPTER 14
April rushed in the throne room with an attitude.
"My, my, don't we look cozy?" April asked, looking at Jareth
and Sarah. "All right, I made it through your stupid Labyrinth! Now
bring us back home!!" April demanded.
"I'm leaving that up to Sarah." Jareth replied.
Sarah looked stunned. She thought for a while.
Should I go? Stay? No one but April, Dad and Toby would miss
me, and I could probably visit. But what about Jareth? Would he miss
me if I went home? Plus, April might go crazy. I do not want her to
do something terrible. She is known for that.
"So, Sarah, what is it? Go home with me or stay here
forever?" April asked.
"No." Was all Sarah could say.
"No what?"April asked.
"I have made my decision. I want to stay, but-"
Before Sarah could say anything, Jareth swept her off her feet
into his arms and spun around once. Sarah and Jareth laughed, and
when Sarah got put down, she saw April waiting paitiontally.
Sarah froze when when she saw her face. April reached one arm
out to Sarah and smacked her across the face.
"I WENT THROUGH HELL FOR YOU! AND HOW DO YOU KNOW? YOU SAT
COZY ON THE KING'S LAP AND WATCHED IT ALL! I HAD 13 HOURS JUST TO
SAVE YOU, BUT YOU WON'T COME HOME! WHY? HUH? FOUND LOVE? HAPPINESS?
WELL TOUGH! YOU ARE COMING HOME WITH ME! NOW!" April screamed.
"No!" Sarah cried out. "I belong here!"
Silence fell.
"Fine. You made your decision. Why bother?" April looked at
Jareth. "Take me home."
Gold glitter and sparkles flew around April. Then, she was gone.
"I... I.... I need to go back!" Sarah cried.
"Wha- Why?" Jareth said, confused.
Sarah knew what April would do. She would go back to her old
life. The life where Sarah saved her.
"Is it because of drugs?" Jareth asked.
"She'll start out with cigarette first then......" Sarah
cried into Jareth's shoulder.
Jareth let Sarah go. Silently producing a crystal, he threw it
over Sarah and watch her disappear.
EPILOUGE
Jareth kept watching Sarah grow up. April and her
went to college and watched as April got married. He kept waiting
for the day when Sarah was of age to go and retrieve her. Once Sarah
turned 21, Jareth came up to greet her. What will happen? Only time
knows........
Janice,
Thank you so much for your compliment----I love you!!! You just made my week,
I'm a little down right now. I totally screwed up painting my dining room and
have to redo it tomorrow. I don't understand it, I did everything right, but
now have to say my dining room looks like a pink and rose French bordello. Oh
well, live and learn.
Thanks again, you really did cheer me up.
Nicole,
You can use this if you want to. It is more of a short muse type thing-actually
I'm not sure what it is. I am updating one of my on going fics and writing
another. Would have more than this, but life always gets in the way--darnit!
You have a good start on your site.
The Dark King...
Darkness fills the void that once held my soul
Darkness...
That is all there was until I saw her
Her sweet innocence burned my skin like the light of the sun...like the flame of
a candle in the darkest recesses of the night
She is the flame and I am the moth
She is the beauty and I am the beast
Fae, beast, monster, demon, and the waking mortal worlds worst nightmare and
darkest desire...I am all of this and so much more
To her, I am a dark dream from childhood--a dark angel who watches over her
I am one of the shadows she tries to hide from when darkness claims the light
She knows that I watch and wait...
I watch her now as she sleeps
Warm flesh on dark silk-mine to claim
How I long to taste her sweetness, feel the velvet touch of her skin
No, I will not force her.
She must say the words and come to me as a willing sacrifice, slave, lover, and
queen
To me she must offer up her soul and bind herself to my dark corruption
forever...
In the darkness of the underground
The Maiden...
Fear is what I feel when darkness falls
This is his time to torment me
A time of nightmares and dark desires
I know he watches me like some sort of dark angel---waiting to claim me
I can feel his presence in the darkest corners of my room
He is one with the shadows from my childhood
I can always tell when he is there-watching me from the dark
The air becomes thick with the scent of magic-like lighting during a storm
I hate him, love him, want him, but most of all I fear him
I will never give in to him
To do so would mean joining him in his kingdom of darkness and sacrificing a
part of myself to him
The most precious part.
My soul
Heya all
Newbie here, just wanting to write a quick note to say 'hi' <nervous
wave of hand> and introduce myself
I'm one of those people who walked out of the cinema some (oh gods,
tell me it isn't!) seventeen years ago, chanting 'Goblin King, Goblin
King, Wherever you may be; forget about my baby bruv', you're better
off with me!', and aching to wake up in the Underground. Sigh… never
made it out of this world, but Jareth's held a soft spot in my heart
ever since.
I've just recently discovered the huge wealth of fanfic that's out
there, though - I've been scouring the various sites that Google's so
obligingly suggested to me over the past two weeks, trying to find as
much fic as I can… but it only occurred to me to try out yahoogroups
today… and that's how I come before you today <lets a little of the
nervousness go, and drops a quick curtsey>
So far, my ultimate favourite in terms of plot, characterisation, and
pretty much anything else you care to mention, is Helen Fayle's Dark
Labyrinth - but there's a lot of good stuff out there! Does anyone
have any suggestions for other good stories that are anything like
this one? (I'll admit, I tend towards the 'evil Jareth' ones - or at
least the somewhat twisted, tortured and definitely conflicted Jareth
ones). I keep wanting to write something… but I'm *hopeless* at
plotting, so if I do work up the courage to post something, it's more
likely to be a scene or a vignette of some sort than a 'real' story.
But whether I dare post anything or not, I'm really looking forward
to reading other people's stuff, and I'm grateful for the chance to
access it ;-)
Gods bless
Starfire
CHAPTER 2
"Mmmm....." Jareth sighed
"What is the matter, m'lord?"
"Something is not quite right..." Jareth looked around.
Finally, he looked down at a cake."There!!!!"
"What, m'lord?" a goblin asked.
"Right there! There is an "H" after Sarah!"
"Sorry, m'lord!"
"Don't be sorry, just get it fixed!!!!"
"Ok, m'lord. I'll bring it to the town's baker to get it
fixed right away!" The goblin hurridley said, grabiing the cake and
running.
Why must I deal with low-life little scabs? Jareth, the all-
mighty goblin king, thought. Everything must be perfect for her
birthday! I can't bring her down here to a surprise party where
there are faults!!!!!!!
Walking to his throne, he thought about Sarah. He had fallen
in love with her when she was first born. And she finally knew that
he existed only 9 months ago. His heart was still broken from the
time when she defeated him.
"You have no power over me."
Those words still rung in his head for hours on end. He was
still heart broken when he had to let her go. If it was his choice,
Sarah would have stayed there. But, alas, it was not meant to be.
Not then, anyway.
Oh, good. Here comes Higgle.
"Mornin', yer majesty." Hoggle cheerfully greeted.
"Good morning to you, too, Hog-wart."
"Oh, its Hoggle!"
"So sorry, old chap. Now, what have we here?" Jareth asked
when he saw a leather pouch in Hoggle's hand.
"Oh. Oh tis! Yeah, it's a present for Miss Sarah. It's a
jeweled necklace I made. Did you want to see it?" Hoggle asked, all
of the sudden very clumsy.
"Sure, Higgle." Jareth said
"Oh, it's Hoggle. Here ya go, m'lord." Hoggle hesitantly
handed the pouch to Jareth
Jareth carefully examined the beautiful, red jeweled brooch
on a pearl necklace chain.
"Huggle..." Jareth started.
"Hoggle!" Hoggle interuppted, but Jareth did not seem to
care.
"It's...beautiful." Jareth said, amazed at the fine hand
work.
"Why, thank you, m'lord." Hoggle said, breaking Jareth's
train of thought.
Jareth, quickly getting back into the swing of things, said:
"Here, Hugglo. You are dismissed."
Hoggle let that version of his name go." Goodbye, yer
majesty. See ya later."
Hoggle waddled out of the door.
Good dwarf. Jareth thought. Now, Sarah, it's your turn.
CHAPTER 3
"Wow, that was a good movie." Sarah said.
"Damn straight!" April said. "But there is still one more
present for you."
April rushed over to her car, a small red station wagon, and
opened the door. All of the sudden, Jareth, King of the Goblins,
pops out.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WHO ARE
YOU?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!" April screamed. Sarah quick ran to her,
and stopped in mid air.
"YOU!" Sarah screamed.
"Happy Sweet 16 birthday, Sarah. I brought you a gift."
Jareth said, as a crystal ball appeared in his hand.
"What is it?" Sarah asked.
"WHOA!Wait one minute! Who are you, how do you know Sarah,
and can I go home?" April asked, screaming.
"I'm Jareth, an old friend of Sarah's, and, yes, you can go
home." Jareth calmly said.
"Is it okay, Sarah? Can I trust you with him?" April, who
was confused, asked.
"Yeah, yeah!You can go home." Sarah implied.
After the goodbyes, Sarah looked at Jareth. He was still
standing there, in his black leather outfit, still holding the
crystal ball. Sarah remember, quite clearly, that the first time
they met, she was scared. VERY SCARED. Almost frightened. But now,
for some strange reason or another, it kind of felt comforting to
look into those big, mis-matched eyes of his.
"Well?" Sarah asked.
"Well what?" Jareth answered
"What's the gift?" Sarah said back.
"A message from Sir Didymus." Jareth replied.
Is that all? Sarah wondered
"Well... can I see it or not?"Sarah asked.
Jareth, who was admiring her beauty, snapped back to earth.
He tossed the crystal ball to Sarah as she caught it and firmly
grasped it. Inside the crystal, Sarah saw Sir Didymus formally
inviting her to a surprise birthday party for her dear old friend,
Hoggle. Sarah was amazed.
"No way! It's Hoggle's birthday, too?" Sarah asked again.
Jareth said mockingly:
"Yes way!" then he formally continued:
"Would you go? With me?"
Sarah was speechless. She did know that the Goblin King was
smart, handsome and talented, but she did not know he had a small
sense of humor.
"Oh, ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........Okay?" Sarah sheepisly
answered.
All of the sudden the crystal ball floated out of her hands
and exploded, with a soft bang, in the air above their heads.
CHAPTER 4
Glitter, stars and ribbons floated around Jareth and Sarah
like a sweeping tornado. Sarah looked around at the colors, colors
she has not even seen before. Then Sarah gazed into Jareth's soft,
blue and brown eyes. Then, without warning, Sarah wrapped her arm
around Jareth's warm body. Jareth, surprised but extremely glad,
immediately returned the favor, and they stared into eachother's
eyes. As they both leaned in a little, all of the sudden they both
heard a bunch of creatures yell:
"SURPRISE!!!!"
Sarah and Jareth quickly seperated, Sarah regretting it at
first, it had been so nice. But then she screamed:
"OH MY GOD!!!!! Is all this for me?" Sarah was really
excited.
"Yes, Sarah. Surprise!" Jareth laughed out.
"Hoggle! Sir Didymus! Ludo! Oh my god, hi!" Sarah screamed
out to her friends.
Jareth decided to stay in the corner of the crowded throne
room. For once in his life, he was actually scared to be in the
crowd. After a couple of hours, everyone went home. Sarah looked
around for Jareth, and found him sitting on the window sill, looking
down at the Labyrinth.
"Hey, stranger, where were you all night?" Sarah asked.
"Here. I just thought you would want to be with your
friends. So, are you ready to go home?" Jareth asked.
"What? Just like that? You would let me?" Sarah said,
surprised.
"Yes. It was not an obligation for you to be here." Jareth
replied.
"Well, it's kind of late. Can I go home in the morning?"
Sarah asked.
"Whatever you want." Jareth said.
Jareth led her up three flights of stairs when they finally
arrived in a big, airy master bedroom. Sarah looked around the room,
and said in awe:
"Whoa. This is my room?"
"Yes, what did you think, I'll put you in the old laundry
room? I'm not that cruel, Sarah." Jareth answered.
"No, no, it's just....really, really, big. Bigger than my
room, Toby's room and the kitchen combined." Sarah commented.
"Well, goodnight Sarah. Pleasant dreams."
Sarah was gazing in his mis-matched eyes again. Without
thinking, she walked over and embraced him. It made her feel whole,
it really suited her. They layed down on the bed, when Sarah quickly
pushed him off the bed, and Jareth fell with a thud on the floor.
"Owww.........." Jareth complained, rubbing his butt.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I just got so..." Sarah atammered out.
But Jareth sushed her with another kiss and left the room.
I'm never going to feel the same way again. Sarah thought.
I'm never going to feel the same way again. Jareth thought.
He walked down the hall to his room and collapsed on his bed. Off
came the boots and shirt. Jareth layed on top of the bed.
The way she walks,
The way she talks,
I will never get her out of my mind.
They both, in different rooms, drawled off to sleep.
CHAPTER 5
A monster howled at dawn. Jareth slowly drew from the bed. He
walked to his closet and picked out his attire for the day. Nothing
could go wrong.
Shit! She wants to go back home today!
All of the sudden, his mood started to get more depressed. He
slowly walked down the hall, where he saw Sarah walking around,
looking for something.
"May I be of some assistance, my lady?" Jareth politely
asked.
Sarah, shocked to see him and in her disgusting condition,
asked:
"Where's the bathroom?"
"Right here." Jareth answered, pointing at a door they were
right in front of.
"Oh, thank you. See you in....10 minutes?" Sarah said.
"I will be in the throne room, awaiting your arrival, fair
maiden." he took Sarah's hand and gently brushed his lips upon it.
Why am I melting? He is just the guy I love!! Sarah
foolishly thought. She looked around the bathroom.
All of the sudden, her toothbrush and hair brush were sitting
on the sink's counter.
Now that is what I called friendly hospitalitey!!!!
~****************************************~
"All right!" Jareth proclaimed.
"What? It's just me!" Sarah said.
She's beautiful, Jareth thought, It's like, when she enters
the room, I change.
I hope he is not mad about last night, Sarah thought, Or I
am gonna cry!!!!!!!
"Your beautiful, Sarah." Jareth finally said, impulsively.
I love his voice!!! I makes me think of every good time I
have ever had!!!!! Sarah thought.
As they walked down the hall, Sarah suddenly stopped.
What? Jareth thought.
Sarah peeked in a room, Jareth's private library, and pulled
him inside. She locked the door, and put her arms around his neck.
Sarah pulled Jareth's head towards her and locked his lips on hers.
Should I go on? Jareth thought. Just then, Sarah started
nipping on his neck. Jareth corosed her on the couch.
There is no God, Sarah thought, there is only what you want.
CHAPTER 6
Two hours passed and Sarah wakes up. She looks around and
finds a dozen red roses and an envelope on the coffee table. She
picked up the roses and they smelt like honeysuckle.
I wonder what honeysuckle smells like... Sarah wondered. She
carefully picked up the envelope and ran her fingers along it. As
she opened the package, the smell of Jareth's cologne wafted up to
her. She read the letter:
My love-
I am terribly sorry, but I have to
go do important
buisness that needs to be attended
to. I will be
back shortly. Then we will talk
about you
going home. Truthfully, I really
don't want you
to go. But it is your choice. See you
in 4 hours.
Love,
Jareth
"Four hours? When did he leave?" Sarah asked curiously.
All of the sudden, gold letters appeared at the bottom of
Jareth's letter.
P.S- I left 3 hours ago, Sarah.
"Oh, how convienent."
Sarah grabbed her pants and slipped them on. Yanking her shirt
over her shoulders, there came a soft knocking on the door.
"Sarah? Are you in there?" a kind voice asked.
"Hoggle!!! Come in!!!!" Sarah greeted.
She bent down to give Hoggle a quick hug.
"How are you?" Sarah asked.
"Never better. I finally reached me goal! 300 fairies! Cor!"
Hoggle explained.
"Wow. I never knew there could be so many fairies!" Sarah
said, amazed.
"Yes, missy, there are! Sarah, would ya like ta take a
walk?" Hoggle shakingly asked.
"Sure Hoggle!!!!!" Sarah answered.
Sarah quicked glanced around the library, looking for her socks
and shoes. They were under Jareth's desk, where Sarah saw another
box. She gazed at the beautiful black velvet box for 5 seconds and
saw a single tag on it. As she read the tag, it was for her! A late
sweet sixteen present from Jareth! She picked up the smooth black
velvet box and sat on the floor. She called to Hoggle, who was still
by the bookcase:
"What's this?" she asked.
Sarah opened the box and saw a small ring with a red jewel on it.
It looked almost like the ring that- that she gave the wiseman and
his silly talking bird hat!
"Oh my god!!!! Hoggle!!! Come and see this!!!!" Sarah
exclaimed.
"I already have." Jareth's voice answered back. He stood
there with a dozen more white roses.
"Oh, hi! You are home early!!!" Sarah, who did not know what
to say, said.
"Do you want to go home?" Jareth asked.
Sarah thought about it for a minute. She answered:
"No, but..."
"Then you want to stay!!!" Jareth said, happily.
"No, but..." Sarah started.
"But? What but? You said you don't want to go, then you do,
now their is a 'but'!" Jareth proclaimed.
"Hey, don't get mad at me! You don't even listen!!! You just
jump into stuff!!!! What if I did not want to come here?" Sarah
argued.
"Ah, you see, but you did!"
"That's only because you tricked me saying it was Hoggle's
Birthday!!!"
"No, I didn't. It was a surprised party for you, my sweet!
If I would have told you the truth, you wouldn't believe me! It was
YOUR fault!!!!"
"Well, maybe you shouldn't have made an advance to me last
night!"
"Ah, you see, you did this morning! I want that back!"
Jareth said, as he grabbed the roses back. "Here you go!" Jareth
screamed.
A crystal ball flew up in the air and bursted around Sarah.
Black glitter, red ribbons, and grey fire spun around her like a
volcano. Then, she was gone.
"Oh no!" Hoggle said.
"What?" Jareth asked, being annoyed.
"She took your ring!"
"Let her keep it. It's no use to me anyway." Jareth spoke,
as he turned around and walked out the door.
Just then, Hoggle glanced down at his wrist. He saw the guady
bracelet that Sarah gave him. But to him it was gold. It was
friendship.
Now he was going to help his friend. But how?
CHAPTER 7
Sarah was in her room. She quick jumped on her bed and sobbed
in her pillows. Sarah never wanted this. No one would want this. Not
even...
"Hello Sarah! Are you home?"
.....April.
"Up here." Sarah said morbily.
"Why are you still in those clothes?" April said admiring
Sarah's neat hair, and her brushed teeth.
"I was out having coffee last night with my friend-"
"Who looked like a medevil king-"
"Who just got off of work-"
"Doing what?" April asked.
"ACTING! Would you stop analyzing me?!"
"Sorry Sarah. Your right...please continue." April
apoligized.
"Anyway, we got talking-" Sarah started.
"About what?" April cutted in.
"Stop! About whats new and everything, and I got in late. I
just went to bed." Sarah finally said, lying through her teeth.
"Something's different about you..." April wondered.
She wanted to know what happened between the tall, blonde hair
man and her best friend. It was the glow in Sarah's face, the
sadness in her eyes, that made April think.
"Where exactly did you go?" April asked seriously.
Sarah, knowing not to argue, shakingly grabbed the Jareth doll
and held it gently. April noticed the amazing similarity between the
doll and the man. She suddenly realized, she heard stories from
Sarah, read the book, and looked at the doll.
"Sarah?" April asked. "He's real, isn't he?"
"Yes." Sarah, who was crying at the time, answered."It's all
real."
"You went with him all night?"
"Yes." Sarah answered.
"Why? No, wait- you love him. He tricked you. You had
thirteen hours and when you reached him, you got to go home.Right?"
"No!" Sarah said defensively.
"Then what?!" April asked. She wanted the truth. The
straight truth.
C'mon Sarah, you can tell me! April thought.
"Then what?!?!" April repeated. "Tell me."
Sarah sighed. "After you left, he told me that there was a
surprise party for my friend, Hoggle. I fell for that trick, and
Jareth and I went Underground, to the castle." Sarah partly
explained.
"And?" April anxiously asked.
"And the party," Sarah started,"was for me. So I stayed and
partied. After the party, it was to late into the night. Jareth
showed me to the guest bedchamber. I slept, woke up, had breakfast,
and came home."
"That was all?" April asked, displeased.
From the way Sarah talked about her adventure in the Labyrinth,
April figured the second trip would be more, how youn say...robust.
But maybe Sarah didn't tell the WHOLE story...
"That is not the whole story!" April proclaimed. "Tell
me!!!!!"
"WHY DO I HAVE TO YOU?!?!" Sarah fired back. "I actually
want a couple of secrets to keep to myself!!!!!!!"
"Well, I know that you know that I'll eventually know what
you know!" April yelled.
"Yeah, but-" Sarah started.
"'But' nothing!! Tell me!!!!" April said, lunging at Sarah.
Sarah, turning away so April wouldn't hurt her, said:
"NO!!!!"
"Tell me!!!!!!"
"NO, I WON'T!!!
"TELL ME, SARAH!!!!!!!"
"Nothing happened!!! Leave me alone!!!!"
Just then, Sarah's father came into the room.
"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?"
"She wants to know something about me, and I won't tell her.
Would you please escort her out, Dad?" Sarah asked calmly.
"Ok, Sarah. Come on, April. I'll escort you to your car."
Sarah's father said, holding his arm out to take April away.
It was silent for one minute.
"Come on, Ms. Shasoo." Sarah's father agian said.
April got up off the floor and walked towards the door. As
soon as ashe hit the doorway, she said:
"I wish that the Goblin King would come and take you away."
April finally said "Right now."
Sarah, with her eyes brimmed with tears. watched the one
bestfirend above ground, go away. Had she meant those words?
I wonder if...
Just then, a gold spark came from the window. In a second,
Sarah was gone. April saw this. She quick ran up the deck stairs to
Sarah's window.
He was there. Sitting on the chair in her desk area.
"Where is she?" April Asked, crying.
"Underground. Do you want to look for her?"Jareth asked
"Yes, please. I have to find her!"
"She 's there." He points at his castle." In my castle."
" Take me to her!" April screamed.
"I won't. You have to solve the Labyrinth."
"What?" April asked
"You have 13 hours in which to solve the Labyrinth, before
Sarah has to stay her forever. Such a pity to you, but a treasure
to me."
Jareth said, vanishing.
"God. The Labyrinth. Well, I have to do it." April said
walking towards it.
Just then she saw a dwarf with white hair. he was sitting there
looking at some jewels.
"Excuse me, uhhh, sir! Do you know a way into the
Labyrinth?"April politely asked.
"Oh,ah, yes, why are you here?" the dwarf asked.
" I'm looking for my friend, Sarah. The king took-" April
started.
" Jareth took Sarah?Well, C'mon then! Let's go!" the dwarf
said
" Who are you?" April asked
"Hoggle You?"
"April. Its nice to meet you Higgle"
"Hoggle."
April followed Hoggle inti the door of the Labyrinth.
"Oh, there it is! thank you Hoggle!" April said, running
into the Labyrinth.
She stopped short. There were 2 ways to go. then she put
herself into Sarah's mind. She went lef. After a while, she finally
was about to give up.
"WHY ISN'T THERE A TURN?!?" April screamed
"God, don't get your panties in a twist.Walk through the
wall." a voice appeared.
"Who said that?" April shakingly asked.
"BEHIND YOU! God!"
April turned around.
"NOW where are you?" she asked.
"Up!" April looked up. "Hello!"
"What are you?" April asked, wondering.
"Well, above ground I'm a racoon, and Underground I am...
still...a racoon." the creature explained.
"Don't be silly! Racoons can't talk!" April blurted out.
"Ah, you see, this is a land where everything seems possible
and nothing is what it seems. So do not take anything for granted,
uh....."
"April. You?" April introduced.
"I am of a rare species. My family here is extinct, and,
sadly, I am the only one left. I'm the heir. My name is Mark!!!" the
racoon said, holding up to fingers in a peace symbol when saying his
name.
"Oh." April said.
"What may I help you with?" Mark asked.
"Do you possibly know how to get through the Labyrinth?"
April asked.
"Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm........let me see....." Mark said, looking
around. "Ummmm........ no."
"Well, yar no help!!!" Hoggle said.
"Well, excuse me, Mr. Speech impetiment! I do know that you
can walk throught that wall right there to get you on the start of
your journey." Mark sassed back.
"Thanks!!!!!" April said, grateful enough that she got some
direction.
"Wait, fair maiden, I will go with thee!" Another strange
voice appeared.
"Who are you?" April asked.
"Huh? Sir Didymus?" Hoggle said.
"Sir Hoggle!!! How nice to see you again!!!!" Sir Didymus
greeted.
"Ok, so now I have two of Sarah's friends-" April started.
"-And me!!!" Mark said.
"-And Mark. Now, where is the third one?" April finished.
Both Hoggle and Sir Didymus bowed their heads in respect. April
knew that something happened.
"Poor Ludo......" Hoggle started.
"Yes, poor Ludo...." Sir Didymus said, but was cut off by
April.
"I don't think I want to know." April said.
"No, no, it's all right. Ya see, after we had a party at
Sarah's, Ludo stepped into the mirror to go home and lost himself
into another world." Hoggle explained.
"Yes, but let's go! We have to save Sarah!" Mark said,
breaking the silence.
"Right!" the rest of the gang said.
Sarah, April thought, I wonder what you are doing now?
CHAPTER 8
"Why did you bring me here AGAIN?!?!?!?!?!" Sarah screamed
to Jareth as loud as she could.
"I had to. It was an obligation." Jareth answered. He was
still mad at her beyond belief.
"AN OBLIGATION!?!?!?!?!?!" Sarah once again screamed.
"YES!!!" Jareth yelled back, then continued more calmly."I
have to grant every wish that comes to me, or my magic, and myself
included, would disappear."
Sarah, being blinded with rage, saddness, and utter confusion,
asked:
"WHO WISHED ME HEAR?"
Jareth, using one of his amazing talents, disguised his voice
like April's:
"I wish the Goblin King would come and take you away RIGHT
NOW!!!"
Oh, shit! Wait a minute.....
"YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME!!!!!" Sarah enthusiastically
said, hoping she would go home.
"That won't work." Jareth said, amused.
"Why not?" Sarah asked.
"Your friend has to say it, not you!"
Damn!! Sarah thought.
"No,no,no,no,no!" Sarah said, crying.
"I have a surprise for you, Sarah." Jareth said, breaking
Sarah's train of thought. "If you would, please, follow me." Turning
away, he started walking to a window.
Sarah really had no choice. She hesitantly walked toward the
window, where Jareth and her met before.
"There." Jareth said, pointing at a part of the
Labyrinth. "Is your friend. She is looking for you. Quite a young
spirit. Now, would you join me for dinner?"
Sarah, uncertain of what to do, agreed. Why argue when you were
going to be in the castle awhile? Besides, she was hungry. What
could it hurt?
CHAPTER 9
It hurt. ALOT.
She woke up an hour later in Jareth's bedchamber!!!!!!!
Shit, what did I just do? Oh, I know what I did! Why did I
do it? Why?! Why?!?! Sarah thought.
Jareth, feeling Sarah tossing and turning, thought:
Did I just take advantage of her? Shit! Double Shit! Double
bloody shit!
Both, at the same time, jumped out of the bed with sheets and
blankets.
"No, no, no! This did not just happen!" Sarah said.
Jareth looked to the floor, his feelings hurt. This was the
woman he loved who denied it. To his surprise, he was actually
about... to ...cry... NO! Not now. He had a job to attend to. He
turned around and got dressed the fastest way he knew how: magic.
"10 hours and 5 minutes. Time to go see your friend." With
that, and a stolen kiss, Jareth left Sarah standing by the bed.
Why do I feel like I'm gloating? Could I be in.... Sarah
lost her train of thought when a guy suddenly broke into the room.
The man did not notice Sarah at all as she jumped in between the
blankets and sheets. From the back, he looked a lot like Jareth.
"I coulsd have sworn I left it here.....ah! There it is!"
The guy went and lifted off the blankets, revealing Sarah.
"Sarah, I was only gone for 10 minutes." Jareth said.
"Oh, it's you! I didn't notice...." Sarah stopped as she
peered into Jareth's eyes. Blue and brown flickered through them
with passion.
She slowly went and kissed him on the lips. Jareth's warm arms
snuggled around her waist.
Sarah, with a sly grin, started to fumble with the buttons on
his poet's shirt. Frustrated, she ripped it down the middle. She
tossed it to the floor.
"Sarah, that was my favorite shirt!!!!" Jareth gasped out.
"Tough." Sarah said playfully as they both started to make
love.
CHAPTER 10
Sarah woke up.
What happened? she thought as she looked over and found
Jareth laying by her side. She put her arm around his chest and
hugged him.
"Morning." Jareth groggily replied. He looked at the clock
on his wall.
"9 hours and 23 minutes. I have to go."
A quick change of clothes, a stolen kiss and Jareth was gone
once again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*************************~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"There are SO many twists and turns!!!! How are we ever
going to get to the castle in time?!?!?!?!" April complained.
"Well, if you stop complaining,and think a different way,
you might actually get some work done." A strange voice appeared. It
happen to be the Goblin King. "You guys are helping her, right?" he
asked.
"No, no! I was leading her back to the beginning, yer
majesty." Hoggle hastily replied.
"WHAT?!?!?!?!?!" April screamed.
"Higble....." Jareth started.
"Hoggle!" Hoggle corrected.
"Whatever. You told me that before and you were lying. Why
do you it now you deceitful little scab?" Jareth slpit through
Hoggle.
"Because...." Hoggle spated out.
"Because of what? Friends?" Jareth asked.
"It don't matter."
April cutted in. " Look, I have little time left to solve this
damn maze and I am going to solve without your 'great' help,
Hoggle!!!!" April stormed off with Sir Didymus and Mark.
CHAPTER 11
"Oh dear, poor Hoghead!"
"Hoggle."
"Yeah. Anyway, why do you always do that when yuor friends
need you the most?"
"Do what?" Hoggle asked.
"YOU ACTUALLY HAVE FRIENDS, BUT YOU TURN ON THEM. THEY
FORGIVE YOU UNTIL IT BECOMES A PATTERN. PEOPLE WOULD KILL FOR THAT.
YOU ARE ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES!!!"
Jareth started to calm down, Hoggle was sitting by on a hedge,
face in hands, crying.
"Oh come, come, come, Hogble. Surely you think that your
life is horrible, but why do you think I put you in the oubliette to
live?" Jareth asked.
"So people would forget-" Hoggle started morbilly.
"No! So you could do and have anything you want. You were
free all the time. You just assumed that everyone hates you, Hogeg."
"Well, don't they?" Hoggle asked.
"No, they just don't know you. And if you were a little open
to affection and more social, you could have friends. Do not throw
your life away." Jareth said.
"Then why did you put me in a place to forget about me?"
Hoggle asked.
"So I wouldn't see you suffer." Jareth calmly explained.
"Why then?"
"Because no one deserves to suffer."
CHAPTER 12
"Well, he was a lot of help." April thought out loud.
"Excuse me, fair maiden, if I made had a word?" Sir Didymus
asked.
"Sure Didymus." April agreed.
"It was only 9 months ago when Lady Sarah made her journey
through here. No one even tried to stop her, she was determined."
Sir Didymus started.
"Yeah, so?" April asked, while the three friends continued
walking.
"Fair Sarah was his only friend." Sir Didymus started
April cutted in. "Ever?"
"Ever. And Sir Hoggle, well, was never intune with his
affection. Maybe it was because of his dreadful past, I am not
certain." Sir Didymus explained.
"What happened?" April asked, now curious.
"No one knew why, but Sir Hoggle's father disappeared. His
poor mother, Gods rest her soul, unfortunately past away during
childbirth. Fair Lady Vivienne raised him, and did not treat him
with tender, loving care that a young lad should have." Sir Didymus
went further.
"And?" April asked, in wonderment.
"And lets just say its hell!" Hoggle's voice said.
"Come on! I am tired of listening to you people talk while
we got to go save a damsel! Get a move on!" Mark loudly said.
"Right!!!" Everyone else said.
They finally went through the hedge maze, and went into the
forest. Hoggle went to go pick berries and said that he'll catch up
later.
"I wonder....." April said.
She walked into a clearing.
"Goblin king! Goblin king! I need to talk to you! Where are
you?" April screamed.
"Why are you doing that?" Mark asked.
"Maybe she is giving up." Jareth said, appearing.
"No, I was not going to give up. Friends don't givew up on
friends." April said defensively.
"Really? But they do wish them away, right?" Jareth asked
calmly.
"I just had a question!!!!!!!!!!" April almost yelled,
flying her arms in the air.
"I just have an answer!" Jareth said, mimicing April.
She is so easy to get infuriated!!! Jareth thought.
"What are fireys?" April asked, annoyed.
"That you have to find out on your own." With that, Jareth
grabbed Sir Didymus and vanished.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~********************~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Your majesty, what is the matter?" Sir Didymus asked,
baffled.
"YOU. I am forbiding anyone who helps the girl. Why did you
help her?" Jareth asked, furiously. It was because April was getting
nearer and he wanted Sarah to stay.
"I..... I.... I wanted to see Lady Sarah, M'lord."
"PLEASE DON'T!!!! I am sending you back to the Bog now."
Jareth said, tossing a crystal to Sir Didymus.
In an instant, Sir Didymus was home.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~********************************~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Mark?" April asked, noticing her only friend was gone.
"MARK!" April yelled. Where is he?
"MARK!!!! MARK!!!! MA-RK!!!!!"
-Tap tap tap-
"Whats going on?" April wandered.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HA HA HA HA
HA HA HA!!!!!!!" Firey 1 screamed.
"What the hell do you want?" April asked protectively.
"We just out to have a good time!!!!!!!!!! HA HA!!!!" Firey
2 said.
"Yeah!" Firey 3 said.
"That's right!!!!" Number 4 said.
Firey 5 sang:
Don't have no problems!!!
-No problems-
Don't have no suitcase
-No suitcase-
Don't have no clothes to worry about!
-No clothes to worry about-
"Hold up! Hold everything! Besides singing and dancing, do
any of you.... things..... know how to get to the castle at the
center of this here Labyrinth?" April asked, somewhat amused.
Firey 1 chanted:
Castle? Castle! Yes we do!!!
"Show me then!" April said.
"Wait - do you want this peach?" Firey 2 asked.
"Thank you!!! You are a life saver! I'm starved!"
April bit into the peach, its juices flowing into her mouth.
This tastes strange, she thought. By then all of the fireys were
away. April stumbled a few steps, hallucinating. Then she fell to
the ground with a thud. She drawled off to a deep sleep.
Inside The Labyrinth
A fanfic by: Nicole Steinmetz
My love-
I am terribly sorry, but I have to go do important
buisness that needs to be attended to. I will be
back shortly. Then we will talk about you
going home. Truthfully, I really don't want you
to go. But it is your choice. See you in 4 hours.
Love,
But how?
*grins* oh aye, that it is. I'm a long time lurker, but now I feel obliged
to step forward and speak up. I'm still here and always will be, even if my
fics are awful!!

"Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I have fought my
way here to the castle beyond the goblin city to take back the child
that you have stolen, for my will is as strong as your's and my
kingdom is as great," Sarah said, as she tucked her sixteen year old
daughter in.
"Sarah, isn't she a little too old for these stories?" asked
Alexander, as he walked into the room.
Sarah looked up at him with a frown, "Alex... she's sick..."
Alex sighed and sat down beside his daughter, "You're not sick, are
ya?"
He started tickling her.
Orianna started giggling, "No... no... I'm not sick."
She started coughing.
Sarah playfully hit Alex on the arm, "Leave her alone brute."
Alex stood up and ruffled Orianna's waist length, black hair
playfully, "Goodnight, kiddo."
"G-night, dad," she said as she watched him walk out of the room.
She then returned her attention to her mother, "Then what happened?"
Sarah finished the story and then got up from the chair.
She did a sweeping bow, something she had not done since Ori was six,
and then smiled, "Goodnight mi'lady."
Orianna smiled, "Goodnight mother."
Sarah walked out of the room as Orianna laid her head on her pillow.
"I wish Jareth would come and take me to the labyrinth," she said as
she yawned, "Right... now..."
She then fell asleep.
Jareth looked out the window of his study, yawning.
A sudden pull of the magic surrounding him yanked him back to the
Aboveground.
He looked about the room, noticing several books that he recognized.
He looked past the sleeping form on the bed to the vanity. He saw a
familiar music box with a girl in a white dress.
He walked over to the dresser, a sense of wonder spreading through
his body at the familiar sight. "By the Gods," he whispered. "It is
her room."
He turned towards the bed, expecting to see her there, smiling up at
him with happy tears in her eyes. She had called him. She wanted to
leave with him.
But he was confronted with a view of a sleeping girl, her breathing
shallow and harsh with illness. A girl who looked almost exactly like
her mother had all those years ago...
He slowly approached the girl's bedside, looking down at her as she
slept.
She turned over in her sleep, turning to face him, and as her hair
fell in her face, he gently swept it back.
Her eyes fluttered open and she looked up at him, not daring to
believe her eyes.
"You're Jareth, aren`t you?… you're the goblin king," she said as she
sat up.
Taking one slight step backwards, Jareth stared at this young girl
who had summoned him. He took several seconds to examine her. Her
chocolate brown, slightly wavy hair was in disarray from her previous
position. Her gray-blue eyes stared at him, glazed over from her
illness. In the moonlight, her already pale skin appeared white,
iridescent-like. She stared at him in a curious mixture of
conflicting emotions: hope, amazement, fear, disbelief.
He straightened immediately, regaining his intimidating posture,
looming over the fragile angel.
"I am Jareth, the Goblin King."
She blinked, and it was obvious she was trying to stay awake,
fighting unconsciousness, but fighting a losing battle.
"Did...did you hear my wish?" She asked in a timid voice. Not afraid,
but not overly proud.
Jareth nodded his perfect head, his blonde-white hair falling from
its position, framing his perfect face. His haunting mismatched eyes
shone brilliant, like an emerald and lapis lazuli. His lips held
neither a frown nor a smile.
"So...what are you going to do?"
She clenched her eyes shut and opened them again, trying in vain to
ward off the sleep that threatened to claim her.
In response, Jareth smiled enigmatically, slightly smirking.
In a whisper, barely audible to her fading senses, he whispered, "You
shall soon see little one."
The last thing Orianna was aware of was a blinding flash of light,
before unconsciousness took her and she slipped into blessed darkness.
Orianna awoke to the sound of birds chirping in the morning.
Any other morning it would have been wonderful to be awoken by the
songs of birds, but on this morning however it just proved to be
annoying.
She turned over, covering her head with the pillow, and
groaned, "Someone close the window..."
A goblin woman hobbled over to her, "Come on mistress, it's time to
rise and shine."
Orianna turned away from her, "Mother... I'm really too tired for..."
She uncovered her head and gazed up at the goblin woman, becoming a
lighter shade of pale "Wait... you're not my mother..."
She sat up and looked around the room, becoming even more
pale, "Where am I?"
"Ah, the master din't tell ye?.....Mmm...usually he doen't take
people unless they ask em" the old woman croaked, "Ah, come here" she
jumped up on the bed and patted the spot next to her. Orianna
hesitated, "Come on now! i won't bite ye". Orianna moved over,
sitting next to the old shrunken woman. "look out that there windeh"
the Goblin woman pointed, "That be the Labyrinth" she jumped down off
the bed, "You, are in the castle in the center of it all...I ran ye a
bath.." she motioned towards the connecting bathroom, "Now, if ye
don't mind....I have got places to be"
"Wait!" Orianna yelled, "I need to-"
"Oh don't tell me...ye can't wash yerself?
"No I can, I just need to know why i am here"
"He'll tell ye...when ye be ready"
"Do you mean, when I've grown older?"
"No! When ye get up and wash yerself" with that, the woman left the
room, closing the door behind her.

Chapter 2:
Life Isn't Always Swell
Nothing was disturbed. Sarah walked into her old bedroom to find
nothing out of the ordinary changed. Of course her stepmother,
Karen, had apparently washed the sheets and dusted to keep things
fresh and tidy, but other than that it was the same as she left it.
Her father was close behind her carrying her belongings and sat the
suitcases down on top of her comforter. He knew his daughter was
still in a fragile state and he didn't want to excite her too much.
Muttering softly, he stated, "Sarah, feel free to get yourself
reacquainted with... your things."
Sarah appreciated his indirect hospitality and strength through this
ordeal. Sometimes, though, she felt like they were treating her like
a child. Of course, to this very day, she would swear her experience
with Jareth and the Labyrinth was real... because it was so intense,
vivid and tangible. Her clothes were even dirty from the adventure!
However, her stepmother credited that a neighbor had seen her
rummaging through the hedges searching for something that night.
Perhaps it was just a delusion, but...
Sighing, she slumped down to her bed and stroked the surface of the
sheets with her hand. Looking up to her father, he gave her a rather
awkward nod before departing, closing the door silently behind him.
"It's just a dream, Sarah, they don't exist. They never existed!"
she exclaimed softly, but rather forcefully to herself. No matter
how many times she repeated those lines and wanted to believe them,
something deep inside told her, however, that they did. It wasn't
dreams or figments of imagination - they were real, just like her
family was, just like she was, just like Merlin -her dog- was! Damn
it, no one ever listened to her! It wasn't fair!
She then rationalized herself by composing her breaths and
remembering the facts her psychologist cited to her. Determined to
have her strength win over her mental bearings, Sarah decided to
confront the past. Standing, she moved her way over to her dresser
and opened up the top drawer; the same compartment where she kept the
red bound book. It wasn't there! She didn't see it! Pushing things
aside, her fingers ran like mad digging deeper and deeper to the
bottom. It was gone! The book was gone!
Karen. Her stepmother must've took it! Cursing, she flew out of her
room, down the stairs and into the kitchen where the woman was.
Sarah glared at her as she turned away from the countertop, a knife
in one hand and a potato in the other. Karen just grinned at her,
which antagonized Sarah even more. The brunette started to ball her
fists in anguish. "I'm fixing your favorite meal for supper, Sarah,"
Karen chirped, peeling at the potatoes over a bowl. "It's a great
day, one to celebrate, especially when Toby has his big sister to
look up to back home."
"Where is it," Sarah simply said, her voice full of angst and tragedy.
"Where's what, dear," Karen cooed, moving back over to the counter
and putting her back towards her stepdaughter.
"My book!" she shouted a little annoyed.
"What book? I have no idea..." was all Karen could muster before her
stepdaughter barged over to her, slamming her fists on the space
beside the sink. "Labyrinth, Karen! It's not where I left it... You
moved it, didn't you? You threw it away! You threw it AWAY! Damn
you!"
Karen's eyes sulk and droop sadly, pursing her lips as if she was
trying to wedge herself out of the situation. A masculine voice then
sliced through from behind, "Sarah, what's gotten into you?"
Looking back over her shoulder, Sarah brushed a few strands of
chocolate brown hair out of her eyes. It was her dad. He had the
most intense, upset look on his face - and she knew she was in
trouble. Karen didn't say a word. She just hung her head and
continued her peeling.
"My book, dad. It's missing. I knew she took it! I swear that
bitch..."
"Sarah, watch your language. I know you're an adult, but, as so long
as you're under my roof, you will respect what you say around Karen
and I. Toby's at an impressionable age," he fired a little hotly,
but there was also a sense of gentleness in his voice. Sarah only
nodded in response, knowing the error of her ways, and walked up to
him a little more calmly.
"What about my book," she replied sadly.
"I... I tossed it," he said softly.
Her eyes grew wide. "What?!"
"Doctor Liu said it was best. After hearing your..." he paused,
searching for the right words, "...experience...in the Labyrinth, I
mean..." He cast a quick concerned glance over to Karen who shied
away back to her task. "He said it was best to get rid of any
contents in which might trigger the event again. I'm sorry..."
"Sorry? You're sorry? I loved that book, dad! Mom gave it to me!"
she cried, her eyes becoming red with tears.
"I know, I know. But, it's for the best Sarah. I only had good
intentions in mind for you. I didn't mean to make you upset."
"Well, you did!" she snapped heading for the backdoor.
"Where are you going?" he asked.
"Out."
"Out where," Karen popped her head up and wiped her hands, getting
ready to intercept the girl at the door.
"To the bookstore. I'll be back. I need time to...think," Sarah
remarked.
Sarah was out before Karen could make way to her. Her husband just
held her back, though, rubbing his hand on the small of her
back. "Don't worry, Karen. She'll be back."
"You mean you don't intend to go out after her? The girl has
problems, Bill! She could hurt herself...she could hurt someone
else! I don't feel safe in her just running around the streets with
the condition she has!"
"She has to get out sometime. She'll be back, though. We can't pin
her up like an animal," he said, sniffing the aromatic air full of
spices and roasted vegetables. The smell made his stomach growl.
Karen only nodded a bit disappointed and frustrated, going back at it
on the potatoes. Her fingers, while trembling, slip the knife to
barely braze her thumb. "Ouch!"
"Are you all right?"
"Yes, yes, I'm fine," she replied, sucking her thumb. Narrowing her
eyes, Karen goes off to fetch a paper towel. It was then she noticed
a tanned bottle marked with a medical prescription label. Her heart
flew into her throat. "Oh my... Bill, she forgot to take her
medication!"
~*~
She wished she had brought her coat. The cold, blistering wind ate
at her skin, raising an assortment of bumps and hairs on her arms.
Chattering her teeth, Sarah smiled to see the bookstore in near
visible distance. Finally, a warm spot to linger in so she could
clear her mind... and hopefully, in the process, find another copy
of "Labyrinth." Smiling weakly at a few people as she passed them,
she entered the shop and sighed a breath of relief. The sight of
books and texts made her smirk thoughtfully. Heading over to the
shelves, Sarah allowed her mind to drift...
...to drift to Jareth. His voice, his hair, those eyes... It all
seemed so real! So fucking real! It made her chest heavy in just
thinking about it. She shook her head, though. It couldn't be
real. It was a figment of her mind... something that her diluted
brain created to help her deal with the fact her mother left her.
That her father remarried. That life was never going to be the same,
the way she wanted it! Sometimes she would cry and squeeze her
pillow, remembering her mother, Linda, and looking over old papers
and postings. It would do more harm than good. Always her heart
filled with sorrow mixed with anger, making a dangerous and explosive
combination. She had to accept that she had a condition. A
disease. It was unhealthy to just toss away all her sensibilities
for something no one else was credited to seeing.
Clearing her throat, she strode down between the shelves, scanning
the spines of the books in search of the one in particular. She
rubbed her arms, chasing away already disappearing bumps. Looking
up, something caught her eye.
"Could it be," Sarah whispered to herself, standing on the tips of
her toes and reaching for a book. However, her fingers faltered,
causing a whole mess of books to spill onto the floor. She shielded
her face with cowling hands.
As the commotion subsided, she glanced down to the rather audacious
heap of books. "Shit," she badgered herself before stooping down to
pick them up. A pair of feet wonder in front her as she busied
herself. "Oh great. I'm so sorry! I didn't mean too..."
Her words trail when she looked up to face whoever's hands where
helping her. Sarah had expected to see the stoic face of a shop
owner or a kindly stranger. Instead, she fell over onto her rump at
the side. That crude smile, that hair, that same chiseled face...
"No!" she gasped, glancing around in horror. "It can't be!"
"Why can't it be," Jareth said standing to his feet and crossing his
arms. He was dressed, ironically enough, in a pair of black slacks
and a gray poet's shirt. His pale blonde hair retained its unruly
and peculiar proportions, while those piercing mismatched eyes still
strode right through her like a dagger. That smile! He had that
same patronizing smile that reeked of both mockery and haughtiness.
The only thing that was deferred was a hat sitting atop his head,
patting down some of those untamable locks and shadowing portions of
his face. The black duster he wore swept the ground gently... She
was unable to fish out any comments that wished to surface.
"Well?" he half laughed, cocking an eyebrow.
"You're... you're just an illusion Jareth," she replied finally, her
words straining with skepticism.
"Oh really? Who told you that?" he asked with his accented tone,
offering her a gloved hand. She only peered at it in disbelief, her
brow cringing in betrayal.
"No, I can't have this conversation..."
She shot up and sprinting out of the store with wide steps, a few
strange glances made in her direction in the wake of her dismissal.
She ran and ran, until her chest heaved with weights and her breaths
were labored. The park. She had ran all the way to the park. The
sky began to fill with the red lights of a sleepy sun, making way for
the sighing of an awakening moon.
For an instant, Sarah reflected on what had just happened. She was
loosing her mind! Strangely enough, as she turned around a tree,
there he was again with that cocky smile.
"Don't run from me, Sarah. You cannot run...and I'm not some bloody
illusion..."
Her mouth dropped as he reached out for her hand.
Since I can't post on fanfiction.net for simplistic reasons, all my
fan-fictions are confined on the lists and my web-site.
If anyone is interested in reading some of my fic, please email me
and let me know (with "Laby FF" in subject heading).
Take care and have a nice evening!

PS) I love Jaden, SG! ^_^
This was inspired after watching the movie, "A Beautiful Mind,"
starring Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly. I thought since Jenn
was in Labyrinth, this could be an interesting twist... This deals
with serious issues that shouldn't been taken likely. Comments are
always welcome.
Disclaimer: I do not own any Labyrinth related or any Beautiful Mind
image. Characters, ideas, et cetera all apply. They belong to their
respective creators. -Like Jim Henson, and the creators of "A

To Dream a Wonderful Dream
By: Sable "Aeria" Li
Chapter 1:
No Love Injection
Gazing out of the same window for the umpteenth time, Sarah watched
the birds flock to the hanging feeders and splashing in the marble
watering pools. This sight was repetitive, as she watched it
everyday, but it calmed her nerves more than anything else she could
imagine. She could feel the warmth of the sun from the reflective
rays shining through the glass onto her face. Propping herself on
the perch near the pane, she brushed her hand through her bangs.
Sarah then pulled her knees up to her chin and wrapped her arms about
her arching legs.
It has been six years. Six horrifying years since her `adventure' in
the Labyrinth. That night, when she finally defeated Jareth in his
own game, she found herself back in her bedroom. She was sad. Sad,
because she thought the whole adventure was just a dream. But, her
friends from the Underground came back to her to celebrate.
Then it happened.
Flashback...
"Sarah, Sarah!"
It was the voice of her stepmother charging up the stairs. Sarah
ignored the woman's call, too engrossed in the festivities going on
around her. Smiling, she allowed her arms to span and wrap around
the furry creature, Ludo, before witnessing her stepmother's stern
face opening the door.
"Sarah, I called for you! What's going on up here? I heard you
jumping..."
Sarah batted her eyes and specified empty portions of her room. "A
party... With Ludo, Hoggle, Sir..."
Karen looked at her stepdaughter in complete dismay, prompting the
girl's words to taper off into a subdued whisper. What in the world
was she talking about? A party? Why, there was no one in here. A
concerned looked washed over to the girl. "Sarah, no one's in here."
"Sure there is...," Sarah exclaimed happily, patting air. Karen's
eyes grew wide before she stormed back out of the room to retrieve
her husband.
Present...
That's how it began. And, that's also how it ended. Her life was
confined and secluded in this Mental Institution. Being diagnosed
with Borderline disorder, along with bipolar and maniac depression,
she was also committed to having Schizophrenia to boot. They found
it unsafe for her to manipulate herself through society any further.
Of course Sarah's father blamed himself. If he hadn't parted ways
with her biological mother; if he had paid more attention, maybe this
would've never happened. Of course, the doctors told him it was no
fault of his, that this... or rather `these'... conditions were
typically a result of genetic heredity. There was no signs of this
in his past, but he couldn't say the same for Sarah's mother.
Perhaps that's why she left after all.
Years of intense therapy and medication hoped to ensure Sarah a
decent adult life. Now, it was time to see how she would wonder in
the real world.
"Sarah, Sarah..." came a familiar voice coupled with an opening and
closing of her room door.
She ignored it. Hazel eyes remained fixated on the image shielded by
the glass window, of the world she used to rehearse the `Labyrinth'
scenes in. All she had were memories now. Nothing more. Nothing
ever again.
"Sarah! Every time I come in here you're always staring out that
window. What's so interesting out there anyway?" Karen asked with a
gift bag in hand. Her father stood silently behind her with a
wiggling child, Toby, in his arms.
"My faded, wonderful dreams," was all the twenty-one year old woman
replied as she crossed her legs flatly before her, propping her chin
with a hand.
"Well, quit dreaming Sarah. It's your day to come home... With us.
Doctor said it was time," Karen replied as she pulled out a pair of
suitcases from the closet.
Sarah's eyes returned to the window, watching the birds. She gasped
slightly to herself when she saw a white owl streak along the
treetops.
Hello everyone,
I'm new to the list and i was wondering if anyone could recommend me to
some good Fan Fic sites?? I've seen a couple, but not that many, any
suggestions would be great, thanks!

Title: I'm Dancing Again
Author: Selah
Email: selah_labyrinth@...
Rating:G
Summary: Sarah and Jareth danced to their song again.
The soft gentle tune filtered into the room as the
music box figurine twirled by herself in her sparkling
white dress and her celestial appearance.
The glimmer of the sunlight danced around the room.
The sun enhanced her sparkling auburn hair. Her lovely
green eyes were focused on the figurine.
Oh, how she missed him!
Everytime she closed her eyes she saw those cruel yet,
warm mismatched eyes. Everytime she was alone in her
room she heard his mocking yet, musical laughter.
She turned from the figurine and look at the floor. "
The music box plays our song, the one we danced to "
Sarah revealed to no one in particular.
Sarah got up from her seat in front of the vanity and
started to twirl around the room lost in the exquisite
song.
Jareth watched Sarah from the shadows as she twirl
around the room to the tune of the music box.
Jareth softly walked behind her and lightly held her
wrists and danced with her. Sarah didn't seem to
notice to his delight, so he started to sing.
" I'll paint you mornings of gold,
I'll spin you valentine evenings,
Though were strangers 'til now,
Were choosing the path of the stars,
I'll lay my love between the stars."
Sarah stopped dancing and stood still. She tried
turning around slowly and Jareth let go of his hold on
her wrists.
Jareth tilted his head to the side. "Are you not happy
to see me."
"You came."
"Of course."
"I knew if I danced you would come."
Raised eyebrow. "Really?"
Smile. "Yes, I felt it in my heart." Sarah eyes felt
to the ground.
Jareth smiled and leaned close to Sarah. Sarah looked
up and they were an inch apart. She smiled.
Jareth spoke "It so nice to see you happy again"
He kissed her.
"Jareth"
"Yes, darling"
"I'm dancing again"

Title:Your Love
Author: Selah
Email: selah_labyrinth@...
Rating:G
Summary: An free verse poem about Jareth's love for
Sarah.
Your love is shining in your eyes
brighter than the brightest stars
forever calling me out
to run home - which is in your arms
The distance between me to you
is like trying to reach the stars
from where I am now
your love is so close yet, so far
The love in your eyes
so sad and so distance
calling to me forever
in reality isn't long at all
The distance between me to you
is like trying to reach the stars
from where I am now
your love is so close yet, so far
Seperated from each other
for what seem like years
which in fact is six years
but, seem much longer
The distance between me to you
is like trying to reach the stars
from where I am now
your love is so close yet, so far
If all should fail me in my life
I can count on one thing in life
is your love pulling me through
A/N: This might inspire a fic because, I got some

Hello!
I'm Lici, some of you may recognise me from the mailing list. I'm an
avid Labyrinth fan-fic reader and writer...though its been while
since i've updated my fics. *hides face*
But, I'm happy to join your liltte group.
But I also have some business, I do not know how many of you post
your fics at FF.net. But I do, and I find their new ban of NC-17
stories is the craziest thing I ever heard.
I beg of you to sign this petition

and help us make them find an alternative solution.
