Renata Lorence, the festival director feels we have a potentially
controversial cult fim.
The film premiered in Las Vegas July 21st and won Best Experimental
Film.

the film stars three regional avant garde poets:

Cheryl Townsend (who co directed) as Jesus
Michael Basinski (professor of avant literature at Buffalo
university) as God
John M Bennett (professor of lit at Ohio State) as the Devil.
the film also stars a controversial franciscan monk; Fr. Justin
Belitz, as the elder

the film is a surreal retelling of the life of Jesus as a woman and
leader of YES.
her nemesis and leader of No is the transvestite Moses.
Among the colrful characters are:
the anti christ (george dubya bush)
the beast (jerry falwell)
the not so virgin mary
the pharisees (aka the promise keepers)
the teenaged heroin addict; Judas
and the confederate flagged face mormons.

Mike Hovancsek (who composed the music and has scored three films
thta have gone onto sundance) wrote an apt promo text:

film. It is sort of like if you used the set from H. R. Puff-n-
stuff to tell Bible stories! No, it is like if you took the
original cast from that terrible Batman television show from
the '60s and had them act out the life of Jesus with a cross-dresser
and a couple of lesbian strippers! No, it is like watching that
Davey and Goliath claymation series after consuming enough acid to
kill a herd of elephants!
There are layers and layers of odd images washing over people who
are doing nonsensical things with cheesy props while orators shout
poetry over each other and strange music fades in and out! It is
two hours of the most chaotic, f****d up stuff you have ever seen.
The film is so bizarre and funny the peope who made it are either
going to win a bunch of awards or get arrested (probably both)!!!"
