well, actually, i studied in a chinese school from kindergarten upto highschool
and i never cared for the language, i used to take it for granted and my
grades...were just enough to pass, i can't even speak hokkien that well...i only
started last year around august, when i was a hs senior...my friend introduced
me to a taiwanese tv series starring a very popular boyband---i think you know
what and who i'm referring to, and well...got me hooked! as in really hooked! i
gave up my favorite american tv shows on studio23 and filipino soap operas to
watch the chinese channel phoenix, asiaplus and CETV! and i learned to love
chinese series, and korean and japanese series dubbed in mandarin....i was
really poor in mandarin at that time...and well you can say that i learned by
myself...and now, well, i can say that i know mandarin...say at least 75% out of
100...
grabe sobra kong makwento noh? hehe

So that means you understand Chinese. Lucky you! I
feel like I'm missing out on a lot of good C and J
drama being aired on CETV :( I am half-Chinese but I
never learned the language. The reason is quite
personal though.
