It is regrettable that this group, which has so much potential is becoming a
"Spammer's
Paradise." All we ever seem to receive these days are adverts for lonely hearts'
clubs. Now,
in principal I have nothing against such organisations, but this group was
originally
formed to promote interest in Ken Loach's "Kes."

I am usually loathed to offer unwanted advice without invitation, but I must
make at least
one point.

Since 1985 I have run a group (now a Yahoo group) to promote interest in John
Christopher's THE TRIPODS and every once in a while we DO get spammers trying to
infultrate the group's postings. Without hesitation I ban them from the group
and very
rarely are my members troubled with repeats.

I also make a point of posting a message to the members every Friday, even if
nothing is
happening on THE TRIPODS front, just to assure them that they are not forgotten.
Over the
years we have built a very strong reputation with both John Christopher (the
original
author) and the cast from the television adaptation and every member of the
group is now
personally involved with the writing and collating of the ultimate "Making-Of"
book, being
published in New Zealand.

If nothing else, I respectfully ask that a stop is put to these unscrupulous
spammers as
they are bound to spell the death to this group if they go unchecked.

Very best wishes,
Adrian J. Andrews
