I love Julie's Delphy's portrayal of Celine in both of these movies.
But the Sequel even moved me more so.
I love how she mentions the fascist tabloid media in the first movie
and the reality of our corruption here in America (capitalist
cronies) in the sequal...the turmoil of real life relationships that
can change people through time. You know what I mean. Life changes
people and so does our surroundings...but real love stays with you.
Her and Ethan Hawkes portrayal and honesty in these two movies are so
refreshing. True cinema at its best.
I am so greatful for striving to make movies like these.
Thank you for giving life to these characters.
You both Julie and Ethan and the director Linklater are beautiful
human beings to me.
just wanted to send a friendly email your way.
I love these two movies. I saw the first on in the theatre in 95'.
couldnt wait to get Before Sunset on dvd as soon as it came out.
I did not get a chance to see the sequel in the theatre.
I almost love the sequel even more. It is so honest and I so can
relate to Julie's character's thoughts and opinions.
I love these two movies. I treasure their honesty and humility.
Love

Dear Everybody,
I am a member of 2 email groups that has something to do with Julie
Delpy:
This one and... sunriseandsunset...
as in groups.yahoo.com/group/sunriseandsunset
And I would like to react to the statement made by another member
who said:
THE WIFE PROMPTLY FELL ASLEEP
I have noticed that there seems to be more men now...
Who like to listen to the talking...
While the wife goes sleeping because there is no action in the
movie...
Indeed, times have changed now...
The women seem to be more fascinated with action films...
And the men seem to be more fascinated with romance...
It is just an observation...
That I would like to share now...
Good night because the wife... MY WIFE... is calling me now...
I suppose she wants some ACTION...
Let's love somebody today!
AL
Ya a great view and criticicism....we love that

Last night the wife took 5 DVDs off the shelf and said
"Pick one." All appeared to be chick
flicks and I grabbed one at random and it turned out
to be "Before Sunset." Never having
heard of Julie Delpy before, nor having seen the old
"Before Sunrise," I knew not what to
expect.
The wife promptly fell asleep, later saying "It was
just a lot of talking."
I initially thought, too, it might turn out to be
boring, but after a few minutes I was
fascinated. The movie brought back memories of old
loves, and after a few minutes I
realized that, though there was no action, violence,
or sex, I could listen to Julie Delpy talk
for hours, for years, forever. The writing was
superb, the acting outstanding, and the brief
slice of life was portrayed with great feeling.
When the movie ended, I wished it cold have gone on
for several more hours.

As I approach retirement age, movies that evoke nostalgia about times
when I was young have become more interesting, even when there is no
sex or violence!
Just saw "Before Sunset." My wife picked out five DVDs from the racks
and said "pick one." All appeared to be chick flicks, but the
illustration on the cover caught my eye, as my wife is blonde and
beautiful, and it was set in Paris, so I chose it.
The wife immediately fell asleep, as "it was just talking and so boring."
Indeed, I thought it might be boring in the first few minutes, but
then Julie Delpy showed up, and as the conversation progressed, I
found that talking was not boring, that I could listen to that woman
talk the rest of my life.
It was a most remarkable movie and most remarkable performance.
Should have won the Academy Award that year.

Hi people!
I've just joined the group. I'm 25 (male), from Argentina. I was just
wondering around googling for information on Julie, and came across
the Tribute Site. It's sad that there's no official website, but the
Tribute Site is really excellent. Congrats to the author if he/she is
around here.
I must say I did expect Julie to inspire so much care, cause indeed
she had that effect on me. I just loved Before Sunrise and Sunset.
It's sad to infer from the extras on the DVDs that there will be no
other sequel. So much intrigue in that ending for Before Sunset is
killing me. I suppose it was their purpose, but it's sad...
Anyways, I just wanted to drop you all a line an introduce myself.
See you around! Regards!

Here are Julie's views!
I. DELPY WARNS ASPIRING ACTRESSES BEAUTY IS SKIN DEEP
French actress JULIE DELPY has urged young actresses
not to follow in the footsteps of sex symbols MARILYN
MONROE and LANA TURNER by relying on youthful glamour,
because it will ruin their careers later in life.
The BROKEN FLOWERS star fears for women who trade on
their beauty, as it means their happiness depends on
their youth.
And she is thrilled she had the wisdom to avoid
succumbing to Hollywood glamour.
Delpy says, "From early on I never wanted to build my
life on being a pretty face. And I could have at the
beginning. I was kind of a pretty girl and I could
have built it all on being a sexy slut.
"But watching the life of Marilyn Monroe, the life of
Lana Turner, it's so f**king tragic. Once their beauty
is gone, it's like their life is over. They're like
dead flowers."
II. DELPY'S COSMETIC SURGERY PHOBIA
French movie star JULIE DELPY is so appalled by the
rise in cosmetic surgery among actresses, she has
developed a phobia of it.
The BROKEN FLOWERS actress hates the idea of women
suffering to meet Hollywood ideals and admits the
"alien" look of a Botox patient makes her feel
physically ill.
The 35-year-old says, "It hurts me, you know? Even
stuff like Botox, I notice it right away.
"They have a shiny flat forehead and look like an
alien. The lips really terrify me, the upper lip that
looks like it has been hit in the face.
"It gives me anxiety, but what can I do? The other
day, I was at a party and there was a lip there and it
was hurting me so much.
"It was obviously showing that I was disgusted. I just
stared and looked kind of horrified."

Guardian Film - Friday August 5, 2005
Julie Delpy and Hope Davis have joined the cast of Lasse Hallstrom's
eagerly anticipated drama Hoax. Richard Gere is set to star in the
biopic of Clifford Irving, the novelist who caused a storm with his
fake biography of reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes. Delpy will play
Irving's lover and Davis will play an executive at McGraw-Hill, the
publishing house that was taken in by Irving's scam, alongside Alfred
Molina and Marcia Gay Harden. Filming is currently underway in the US
and will be released by Disney. Gere recently signed to star in FBI
thriller The Flock.

Julie Delpy ("Before Sunset") and Hope Davis ("American Splendor")
are joining Richard Gere in the drama "The Hoax," according to The
Hollywood Reporter.
The Lasse Hallstrom-directed biopic tells the story of Clifford
Irving (Gere), the man who wrote and sold a false biography of
Howard Hughes to publishing magnet McGraw-Hill.
French-born actress Delpy will play Irving's mistress while Davis
will play Andrea Tate, an employee at McGraw-Hill.
Alfred Molina ("Spider-Man 2") and Marcia Gay Harden ("Mystic
River") will also appear in the film.
Delpy is currently shooting the drama "The Legend of Lucy Keyes,"
while Davis will appear in the Nicolas Cage pic "The Weather Man,"
set for release on October 28.
----------------------------------------------
Lasse Hallstrom is a director who is famous for "chocolate"
and "gilbert grape", so I expect julie's new film will be also well-
made, great movie.
BTW does anybody knows when "legend of lucy keyes" will be released?
Here are the details
DELPY DUMPED BY AGENT FOR WRITING OSCAR-NOMINATED
SCREENPLAY
French movie star JULIE DELPY was dumped by her
Hollywood agent while she was writing the screenplay
for cult hit BEFORE SUNSET - because he thought the
film was a waste of time.
Delpy turned down the chance to star in a string of
Hollywood blockbusters after having a terrible
experience making AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN PARIS, and
her furious agent decided to cut ties with her.
She says, "It (American Werewolf in Paris) was a total
failure. It didn't make money. The film was not very
good. That's when I decided not to do movies unless I
fully believe in them.
"My agent dumped me when I was writing Before Sunset,
because he thought I was wasting my time."
Delpy, who went on to get an Oscar nomination for
co-writing Before Sunrise with co-star ETHAN HAWKE and
director RICHARD LINKLATER, admits her agent-less
years were very tough.
She adds, "I couldn't get hired and even when I did a
good job, no one would notice it.
"I went from agent to agent and it didn't really work
with anyone, and people would tell me terrible things.
It was very difficult."

Hi,
last night(july 21 --> 22) i was in Bremen at the Julie Delpy concert!
It was very nice!
It's a acoustic-Tour, so there was no standing, just sitting,
11 rows ... á 15-18 seats ... it was sold out, so must have been nearly
200 people there.
nice ambience and with 15 Euro not expensive.
It was forbidden to make photos, even with normal compact-cameras or
without flash.
the concert:
begin: 8:50 p.m.
01 My dear friend
02 Today
03 And together
04 She don't care
05 Another love song
06 Something a bit vague
07 Pate thai
08 Ocean apart
09 So real
10 Solution
11 Mr unhappy
12 Lost again
13 Black & grey
14 I wonder
15 Miaou
--
16 Petit con
17 A waltz
end: 10:20 p.m.
nearly before all songs she said something about the next song ... and
was funny and a lot laughing. She said she felt a bit ashamed that
there were so much depressive songs and so much songs about
relationships ... ;-)
After the concert i went to the stage ... and asked someone there if i
could get the setlist,
and he gave me one. ;-)
maybe i'll write next week more about the concert,
now i have to get a little sleep and drive to Berlin tomorrow ... to
see Julie there ;-)
There were also Poster for free ... i got one,
it's this picture:

Hi Group,
Are any of you familiar with the personality theories of Isabel Myers-
Briggs or David Kiersey? If so, what personality type do you think
Julie is and why?
My own guess would be that she is an ENFP or INFP, but what do you
think?
Best regards,
Michael
Everybody will be happy to learn that Jim Jarmush 's BROKEN FLOWERS that Julie
came to
present has got Le Prix du Jury at Cannes Film Festival . Bravo Julie for you
and all the cast.
Is is safe to assume that Julie, being by nature and by training
primarily an Indie film kinda gal, cares nothing for large Hollywood
blockbuster films such as SW ROTS?
I am as big a Julie fan as there can be, and I found ROTS to be
amazing.
Here is the news!
Delpy bites into 'Bathory' pic
Tuesday May 17 8:34 AM ET
"Before Sunset" stars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy are
in final talks to reunite in the vampire saga
"Bathory," which will mark the French actress'
directing debut.
Delpy also wrote the script about the legendary
Elizabeth Bathory, who inspired many a vampire myth
with sadistic rituals that included bathing in the
blood of virgins.
Delpy and Hawke, along with director Richard Linklater
and Kim Krizan, received an adapted screenplay Oscar
nomination this year for "Before Sunset," a follow-up
to their 1995 film "Before Sunrise."

I saw Julie Delpy this afternoon in Paris. She was with her boyfriend buying
some food
in a very famous delicatessen of Paris. She looked very nice ! I was upset
because
when I saw her, it reminded me one of the most beautiful movie I've ever seen,
"Mauvais sang" of Leos Carax... Then, I came back at home having a look on the
web
and discovered your site... Thank you very much...

She was arm in arm with some tall weird looking bloke.
I found a pic here:

but no sign of the tall bloke.
