Last night the wife took 5 DVDs off the shelf and said "Pick one." All appeared
to be chick
flicks and I grabbed one at random and it turned out to be "Before Sunset."
Never having
heard of Julie Delpy before, nor having seen the old "Before Sunrise," I knew
not what to
expect.
The wife promptly fell asleep, later saying "It was just a lot of talking."
I initially thought, too, it might turn out to be boring, but after a few
minutes I was
fascinated. The movie brought back memories of old loves, and after a few
minutes I
realized that, though there was no action, violence, or sex, I could listen to
Julie Delpy talk
for hours, for years, forever. The writing was superb, the acting outstanding,
and the brief
slice of life was portrayed with great feeling.
When the movie ended, I wished it cold have gone on for several more hours.
