As most of you know, "Boomtown" barely escaped cancellation last
season, despite winning several awards and receiving overwhelmingly
high critical acclaim. To ensure its survival, the show's creator,
Graham Yost, agreed to make various changes, including less use of
the "multiple-points-of-view" format. Yet, NBC moved the show to
Friday nights, demonstrating the network's lack of faith in this
series.
Even before the second season premiered, "Boomtown" incurred
problems with the network. NBC shut down production of the show for
two weeks. The sixth and seventh episodes had originally been
designed as a two-part arc, but NBC wanted "stand-alone" episodes,
only. It was scheduled to resume production on October 7th. However,
NBC has now informed the creators of the show that it will remain on
hiatus for another two weeks. The third episode of "Boomtown",
scheduled to air on October 10th, has been replaced with a rerun
of "Law & Order: SVU".
NOW is the time to let NBC know how we feel about "Boomtown". Let
them know that this quality drama has a strong fanbase - one which
will surely grow, if the show remains on the air and NBC promotes
the series as it should. If you wish to continue enjoying this
innovative series with its riveting storylines and fantastic cast of
characters, PLEASE help us to save this show!
We would also appreciate your help in telling others about this
campaign.
THANK YOU very much for your support!
