Yep, Brother Edgard has a point. I tried to use it
too, and the notice to only send "professional
correspondence" came up a few days later. Heck, I've
been trying to let Jess know that I made it Houston
and I'm working in the business now, but as far as I
know, to no avail.
And, as a guy who's "crossed over," I get it. Even
though I'm not someone who gets a lot of "prime" parts
(I'm a double bass, what can you say?), I've still
started to get a lot more email and messenger traffic
that I can't handle, so I imagine that if she were to
pop her head back up, she might get absolutely
clobbered doing so. One of the great ironies I'm
seeing in this business is the fact, for better or for
worse, that you as you get more successful you have to
spend a little less time progressively away from
friends, distractions (and let's not lie, the internet
IS) and even your family. Goodness knows, I had to
give up time friends and family right off the bat by
moving to Houston.
Here's the thing though, some of you might be looking
at that and saying, "Man, that sucks."
Au contraire.
Anything that makes an actor's career move forward is
definitely a desirable thing. Although, I would mind
the opportunity to say thanks to her some day.
