Kathy has just opened a brand new "Digital Music Store". We've been
quietly rearranging the music (there's close to two million downloads
in all ) and customizing the Elvis area and some of the others,
like "Oldies", and others we thought Elvis fans would be interested
in.
The "BurnLounge" company is similar to Napster, only
with "BurnLounge" most of the money goes directly to the artists
themselves, so needless to say there all jumping on board and loving
the new company.
Kathy and I will be changing things around weekly (sometimes daily)
to keep everything fresh and to make way for new music coming in
constantly.
Elvis of course, is what we're all about so we have 30 Elvis albums
featured now on the shelves, some I've never even seen before. So
will start downloading myself as soon as I send out this note letting
all of you in on our new store.
Interesting enough, Kathy worked in her father's record store when
she was a teenager and still remembers when Elvis records first hit
the shelves and hordes of teenagers filled the store wanting all the
Elvis they could find. And now, all these years later she's the
proud owner of her own "digital record store", where Elvis is STILL
number one.
The difference is, with the new "digital music stores" you can
download only the songs you want.
I tried counting how many actual different songs we had and got and
quit at "365", but there are zillions altogether. Tons of both his
hits and his obscure songs, some even have several versions to
choose from.
Part of the beauty of this is you can download only one song or you
can download 100, it's all about "only your favorites" and you can
download them all directly to your computer or a CD instantly.
Yes for all you "Just Pretend" lovers, that ones among the 365 songs
(in fact I put on the Elvis Favorites list so it would be easy to
find.
If any of you download your favorites then want to burn them on a CD
but aren't sure how, just give me a yell and I'll walk you thru it,
by email, or Instant Message (there's one on the site owned
by "BurnLounge" just for online conversations called Bonfire and I'm
dying to try it out, it works with ICQ, Yahoo or MSN.
Never again, will you have to buy CDs where you only like one or two
songs.
You can even throw in a Lisa, Cher, Hootie or U2 in with Elvis for
awesome mixed Cds. Everyone is there, Michael Bolton, Elton, Madonna,
Celine, Josh, everyone.
Check it out.

hi jennifer finally i got a lit bit of audio up here at my site the sound is kind of primative .lol im poore then elvis sun days ..but you can still here me a little
This is something that has nothing to do with Elvis OR Kathy, but
something a friend just told me that is "definitely worth passing on".
"When someone is trying to get into your house, or if you hear a
noise outside your house," keep your car keys next to your bed on the
night stand and just press the panic alarm on your car. It will go
off from most everywhere inside your house and keep honking until
your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the
key chain. I tried it and it works great - another way to avoid a
possible break in.

A goodbye from Dick Grob for Charlie
the following is a letter that Dick Grob wrote up for me for my site
ELVIS2001.
I wanted to share it with you all.
Charlie Hodge
What can you say about Charlie. That he was a friend to everyone goes
beyond saying. That he was loyal to every member of the group, should
be understood by all. That he loved Elvis, showed in everything he
did on stage and off. That he was a talented musician, is proven by
every record he he made, every concert he sang in and every
performance he gave. That he would make you laugh when you were down,
shows that he had more compassion and understanding then many gave him
credit for having. That he loved life, is indicated by all the things
he did, from having a boat, to his constance jovial mood, to his
relationship with everyone he contacted. That he had a thinking mind,
is demonstrated by all the ideas he put forth, some radical, some
ahead of its time, but always stretching one's imagination.
Charlie was life personified. He was always there for each member of
the group regardless of the trials or tribulations involved. He cared
not only for the group but for those associated with the group, wives,
girlfriends and kids. Most of all Charlie cared for Elvis.
Now he is gone from this earth and I have lost another friend. A
friend that stood by me, a friend that taught me a lot, a friend that
cared. Charlie may not be among us anymore in person, but he will
always be with us in memory just as Elvis is. No one can or will
forget the laughs Charlie brought forth or the music that came from
his heart. Charlie is in a far better place now and he is once again
playing with Elvis and some heavenly choir singing backup.
Charlie loved his wife Jennifer who stood by him with all her support.
Charlie loved all his fans. Charlie loved performing and always
seemed to be on stage. Charlie loved Elvis and now he is once again
teamed with him. I will miss Charlie as a friend and as a person
greatly just as everyone will miss him. Charlie's leaving will leave
a void in this world that cannot be filled.
Good bye my friend, until we meet again!

Behind every great man is a GREAT man"
My precious friend Charlie Hodge passed today. A couple of days ago
he called me, left a message on my answering
machine. "Bye,Bye,"...then his wife Jennifer,"That was Charlie. Call
us back at this number ". I became hysterical, frantically called the
number of the hospital and room they had left on the machine. (I had
been told days ago not to call, Jennifer asked all to hold their
calls as she was swamped, and to wait until she sent word. I couldn't
sleep, and called anyway, left a message to tell Charlie I loved him,
not to worry about calling me back, That I was "seeing" him every
moment....just wait to call when things calmed down.
He called from his hospital room in Knoxville, Tennessee.
I returned the call immediately, and spoke with Jennifer first, who
immediately handed the phone to him. He sounded terrific. He assured
me that he would "beat this", that he just got exhausted from the
treatments. He then went on to tell me all of the wonderful things he
thought about me! How typical of Charlie. He saw and brought out the
best in everyone who was fortunate enough to share his friendship. It
was Charlie who was THE ONLY PERSON WHO LIVED WITH ELVIS DAY-IN-DAY-
OUT, MOMENT BY MOMENT. HE WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE ENTIRE GROUP OF
PEOPLE AROUND ELVIS WHO UNDERSTOOD ELVIS. How ugly it is to me that
their misunderstanding of Elvis, their capitalization-motivated
stories told to each other, repeated over and over, revised, then
repeated again....have become the so-called 'history' of the most
beloved person on planet earth.
HE TAUGHT ELVIS TO BE HIMSELF, LET HIS ANGER OUT AS ANY GREAT ARTIST
WOULD, AND DIRECT IT TO A PERFORMANCE. ANGER WAS ENERGY...AND IT MADE
A BETTER PERFORMANCE. (I had the good fortune of having been born to
a most temperamental singer...my father...so Elvis was
completely "Normal" to me. I told him when I first met him how much
he reminded me of my father. (Freudian, I suppose) IT WAS CHARLIE WHO
EXERCISED ELVIS' VOICE 'ROUND THE CLOCK...PLAYING THE PIANO AS ELVIS
SANG. He was Elvis' Teacher. Elvis Trusted him more than any person
in his circle of associates, who though friends, were of a
different "ilk"...just NOT artists, nor had they any understanding or
experience with that type of personality. Plus, they had much more
limited conversational exchanges with Elvis...CHARLIE WAS AN
EXTENSION OF ELVIS...and without Charlie, Elvis would not have
achieved the greatness he did. The talent was there...Charlie Brought
it out of him, not only with Understanding, but by adding his great
talents to Elvis'. His vocal, instrumental, and vast knowledge of
every aspect of "show business", and knowledge of multiple
genres/feels and styles of music.
IT WAS CHARLIE WHO (having had his own group and tv/radio show in the
fifties ---the Foggy River Boys) UNDERSTOOD THE ARTIST IN ELVIS, WHO
TAUGHT ELVIS HOW TO PACE A SHOW. When he recorded duets with Elvis,
one could not tell the voices apart. He matched Elvis so perfectly.
He taught Elvis just what song would work where in order to raise the
excitement of an audience, then to control the audience by doing a
number that would calm things down. CHARLIE WAS THE ONLY PERSON WHO
KNEW,...YES...REALLY KNEW ELVIS, UNDERSTOOD HIM, ALLOWED HIM TO "BE"
HIMSELF; "Go into a rage if you want...use me as your kicking board,
just let the artistic emotions in you out, Elvis!" I can still hear
him. HE WAS THE ONLY PERSON WHO LAUGHED, RATHER THAN GETTING THEIR
FEELINGS HURT WHEN ELVIS LET HIS EMOTIONS SHOW. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF
THE OTHERS THOUGHT ELVIS WAS INSANE,...BUT THEY HAD NO UNDERSTANDING
OF ARTISTS, NOR OF THEIR TEMPERAMENT. ..THEIR NEED TO SCREAM, LAUGH,
CRY...NOT TO FEAR EMOTION. Charlie taught me to "remember not to
think , just BE...Let your desires be your inspirations, and 'IT BE-
COMES YOU'. If there had been no Charlie, who never, never let Elvis
down...not once, there would not have been the Elvis who touched all
of our lives. Elvis probably would have been heard, but certainly not
developed his gifts to such extraordinary heights had Charlie not
been his best friend. Charlie and I recalled a time when someone
called him offstage for a minute, and Elvis said, "Charlie, when I
glanced back there and you weren't there,...I panicked. I don't EVER
want to do a show without you right with me EVER AGAIN." I am
laughing now. If there is a "dimension" up or out there where people
meet when they leave this physical body, I'll bet Elvis is finally
happy at this moment. Perhaps someday they'll share this day's
conversations with me? I am so envious to think they perhaps have the
answers to all of the questions we pondered, attempted to puzzle out,
only to realize that as Charlie said, "It's time to stop now...rest
our minds...", and then he'd quote a Scripture,..."All knowledge is
vain". Elvis and I and Charlie knew the answers must be there, or we
wouldn't have the questions. We almost drove ourselves into total
exhaustion while "thinking", then refreshed ourselves by just
practicing quieting our minds, and just going blank, just "feeling".
He (Charlie) said, "Kathy, don't worry about me! Worry just saps your
energy. Let's "see in our mind's eye...you and I performing together
all over the world, and it shall be so". Jennifer positive in her
attitude, said, "Don't worry about Charlie! He's doing so much
better. We'll be going home."We made a deal near the end of our
conversation. I can't see how that's possible now, but somehow....I
know we ARE together.
When I got the message this afternoon that he passed away, I went
into a rage, cried, fell on my knees, assumed the "meditation
position" he and Elvis and I practiced, then REAL-"EYES-ED"...Charlie
did not want me to cry for long. He wants me to BE STILL...AND KNOW...
When he became tired and weaker after talking, laughing, and we said
our last "bye-bye"...I just told him, "REST...We'll talk soon, and
keep visualizing ourselves together....and it WILL BE-COME US."
I love you, CHARLES,
Minnie Mouse
ForJennifer, Mrs. Charles Hodge,
Please know that I am thinking now of you, keeping you in the light,
as you journey through this difficult time.I look so forward to
seeing you face to face, in person. You are loved by me, because
Charlie loved you, and you loved him so.
Love,
Kathy

After Elvis’ death, Charlie continued to perform in shows dedicated to Elvis’ memory. Charlie Hodge not only got the audience's attention when he performed on an empty Coke crate. He got the attention of a music legend.
Mr. Hodge said that the first time Elvis Presley saw him, he was standing and singing on the crate while performing with The Foggy River Boys in Memphis. The memory always gave Elvis a chuckle, Mr. Hodge said in a 2005 interview with the Web site Elvis Australia.
Mr. Hodge, a Decatur native who died Friday at age 71, said he used the crate because he was 5 feet 3 inches tall and the other band members "towered over me."
After meeting backstage at that performance, Mr. Hodge didn't see Elvis again until both were in the Army, where they became friends.
Elvis hired Mr. Hodge in 1960 as a member of his "Memphis Mafia." Mr. Hodge was the only professional musician and entertainer in that group.
Mr. Hodge became a background vocalist and rhythm guitarist for Elvis, known as the man who gave Elvis his water and scarves.
He worked with Elvis for 17 years.
Not bad for a boy who started out plucking a ukulele on his front porch in Decatur and did comedy routines in school.
Mr. Hodge was with Elvis when he first met his future wife, Priscilla, and was at Graceland when The King died in 1977.
After Elvis' death, Mr. Hodge performed at shows dedicated to Elvis, including a March 2005 appearance at Decatur's Princess Theatre Center for the Performing Arts.
He also wrote "Elvis 'N Me," which Castle Books published in 1988.
Elvis' bodyguard, Sonny West, said in a DAILY interview that after Elvis' death, he and Mr. Hodge went 27 years without seeing each other.
Then they met in Decatur at West's one-man show, "Memories of Elvis."
"He walked up, shook my hand, and said, 'It's been too long, Sonny. I'll tell you right now, if he (Elvis) was watching us, he'd want us to get together, because where he's at now, he's nothing but love,' " West recalled.
Although Mr. Hodge lived at Graceland, he returned to Decatur to visit his parents' Jackson Street home.
He told THE DAILY in 1982 that "when you come back to Decatur, there are two things you have to have: Bob Gibson's barbecue and a C.F. Penn hamburger."
Now the entertainment industry has lost a man who worked to keep Elvis' memory alive.
Cancer
Mr. Hodge died of cancer at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.
Fans are posting tributes to Mr. Hodge on Elvis Web sites. A Yahoo site had 81 messages as of Saturday night, including a message from one fan who wrote, "May God bless your soul, Charlie. Now you're together again with your true friend Elvis."
That seems fitting, since in his book about Elvis, Mr. Hodge wrote, "Remembering Elvis for the purpose of writing this book, has created loneliness in me like a torment."
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - Charlie Hodge, formerly a backup singer and guitar player for Elvis Presley, died Friday in a Knoxville hospital. He was 71.
For the past 15 years, Hodge performed in tributes to Presley at Memories Theatre in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., with Presley impersonator Lou Vuto. Theatre officials said Hodge had been undergoing treatment for lung cancer.
Hodge met Presley when they served in the Army. After their service Hodge worked with Presley and lived at Graceland for 17 years.
"We're all Elvis fans who work here, and Charlie made us feel so close to Elvis," Vuto said. "When you hung out with Charlie it was like you were hanging out with Elvis and Charlie."
The Alabama native's musical career also included singing with a number of quartets, including one with gospel great Bill Gaither.
