Why don't you just project them from a rented dvd? It's fair use. Trust me the cops won't bust down the door.

You could try calling Exoskeleton Inc, Jarmusch's production company in NY.

Well, the matter is that I spent many hours on google already - even IMDB has no answer for me, the distributors they list are not in operation any more. :(
And there is no more such a thing like indie cinemas in Ontario :(
I hoped someone would know something here.

Hello
I am desperately seeking Canadian distributor for Jarmusch films "Night on Earth" and "Down by law", we want to show them in our film discussion club and we need to buy screening licence (I won't pirate Jarmusch!). Unfortunately IMDB is useless, they give the names of companies, which are not in operation any more. Maybe someone here knows where I can find this info.

Most of the time you don't even know when a good film is playing! The other day there is this big multiplex around here that shows more non mainstream films and I saw they had the movie moon playing was very excited to see it! The showtimes were wrong on moviephone so I was late, but to my suprise they had tetro but I would have not known this if I was not there, nowhere online did it say tetro was playing there, it's like they make it impossible to see the films you want to see!

Céline, Kyra and Gam,

Many thanks for your kind comments!

I already replied to Céline privately, but I'd like to extend the invitation to everybody: If you have written a paper, preferably in English, on the films of Jarmusch, and you would like it to be posted on the site, I would indeed be more than happy to consider it. Just e-mail it to me!

(Also, I found out that Amy Thiltges' thesis  - "Meditations on a Postmodern Age" - was wrongly attributed as a PhD thesis on the site; it was actually an MA thesis, it seems. In any event, I don't have access to it, though I've now relocated and posted another article of hers on Jarmusch, in Organdi Quarterly.
Amy, if you're on this list -  give us a shout.)

Kudos, Ludvig!  You'll do just fine, forums are easy and fun once they get going.

I've set up a forum to accompany the Jim Jarmusch Resource Page. Feel free to use it any way you wish, to ask questions, to answer them, to voice your opinions, to spread news etc. I've suggested a few categories in the forum outline, but you can use the "General" board for any topics which don't fit in any of the categories. Please note that this is my first attempt at creating a forum, I'm sure there are some bugs and annoyances, which I hope to be able to iron out in due time.

Hallo Ihr Lieben! Hello dear folks!

I'm really sorry and I can't really explain it by myself, please don't reply the friend-request of hi5! I just wanted to read a message of my brother and then i was asked: »do you wanna know whoelse of your freinds is on hi5?« and then i made one click and the mess was done.

This is really embarrassing and please forgive me for this misadventure!

Freundliche Grüße /  Kind regards
Nontira

Amy, if you're on this list -  give us a shout.)

thank you very much for your work. Your page page was basically the
starting point where my interest of my Jarmusch's work keep growing.

Dear Ludwig
Congratulations, the new web site, is simple clear and practical.
As I am at last finishing my phd on JJ, I have two questions to ask:
how could I read Amy Thilges thesis?
And would you be interested in posting one of my published papers which is in English?
a thousand thanks  for all anyway, both your site and your book have been incredibly useful to me.
Kind regards

Ok, so I've finally updated the Jim Jarmusch Resource Page...!

Significant changes:

Updated info! - Including, at long last, Coffee and Cigarettes, Broken Flowers, The Limits of Control, among many other things

Updated/deleted dead links! I've also put more stuff directly on the site, so as not to be as dependent on the upkeep of other sites.

New design! Nothing fancy, no frills, but a new look all the same, hopefully a little easier to navigate. Should at least be a lot easier for me to update.

No more annoying banner ads! In fact no ads at all. Well: the site is essentially a non-profit web project - I've done it all for free, and I'm not expecting to get any money from the site (actually it's costing me: time, and money for web hosting, domain registering etc), and I don't want ads loitering the site. There's not even a "Donate" button anywhere. (If anybody feels grateful, feel free to simply drop me a line saying so :) However, as is more or less common practice, I've added links, some of these so called "referral" links, to online retailers wherever such info is relevant, and also set up some affiliated storefronts for convenience's sake (see the About page), which would give me a small referral percentage, if anybody cares to use them. (Please care ;)

New domain name! The new url is www.jim-jarmusch.net

At the moment the site should be regarded very much as a 1.0 release (or 2.0 to be more exact), i.e. it's still pretty rough around the edges and I am sure some things remain to cleaned up, or slightly redesigned before it's as smooth as it should be. Also, there are still some things I know I'll want to add, and there's bound to be other changes or additions that the site could benefit from.

I am in charge of the site, but it lives and breathes through the help and contribution of a whole community of people, not least this list. Please do keep the input coming! Report errors, make wishes. And, for instance, if anyone has written a paper discussing Jarmusch's films, or if you have an interesting piece of news (or trivia), or perhaps suggestions on articles or interviews etc, please don't hesitate to let me know. Also, feel free to bring forward any ideas on how I could improve the site, or on what more you would like it to offer.

Copyright-wise, the site is in a pretty grey area, as much of what I've posted (and YouTube videos I've linked to, which I haven't uploaded, btw) hasn't been cleared for copyright. If you find something of yours on this site, be aware that I try to credit everybody as accurately as I can (and add links to whatever sites I've "borrowed" something from). Please don't hesitate to contact me: I'll be glad to make any changes you might wish for. I obviously won't be quite as glad if you demand I remove something that I don't own the copyright for, but I will certainly comply!

Best
Ludvig

Hello all,

This mailing list, as most mailing lists it seems, has been quite silent these last few years. That's the way the cookie crumbles, I guess.

And the Jim Jarmusch Resource Page (http://jimjarmusch.tripod.com) that I set up in the late 90's, and haven't touched in many a year, is in dire need of a "web 2.0 upgrade". I'm actually planning to update it, to clean it up and to publish it on a regular (ad-free) domain some time quite soon.

Meanwhile, I've started using a blog site (Posterous) to post some updates, and to collect some scattered bits of relevant multimedia found on the web.

So far there's some info on The Limits of Control, the new film that JJ i shooting right now, as well as some embedded Youtube clips of The Del-Byzanteens. Any input would be welcome!

Check it out at http://limitedcontrol.posterous.com/

Best,
Ludvig

yea, fishing w/ John was great, especially the Jim J. and Waits
episodes. funny stuff. I wish Lurie was in more movies, i know he's a

It's worth buying/renting the Stranger extra disk for the interview w/
Lurie.
