It's not just the Siskel or Facets anymore. The Music Box will show
"Tokyo Story" 11:30 am Oct. 21 & 22 as part of Roger Ebert's Great
Movies series. Later in the fall they will stage what can only be
described as a Kenji Mizoguchi orgy, starting with "Ugetsu" from
11/17-11/24; followed by "Sansho the Bailiff," "Utamaro and his Five
Women," "The Story of the Last Chrysanthemums," "Sisters of the Gion,"
"Street of Shame," and "The Life of Oharu." All new prints.
Music Box sells multiple screening tickets at a discount. It's a nice
old movie palace that got cut up into smaller theatres, but they did
it right. The only down I can think of is the lousy parking situation,
but it's reasonably close to public transit, and would make for a nice
vacation focus. There are a lot of great restaurants within walking
distance.
