UPDATE-Chicago area Japanese cultural performances

The 25th Japan Festival – "Discover Japan"
http://www.japanfest-chicago.org
Location: Forest View Education Center, (2121 S. Goebbert Rd.
Arlington Heights, IL)
Date: Saturday, June 24 (11:00am – 8:00pm) to Sunday, June 25 (11:00am
– 5:00pm)

The 25th Annual Japan Festival will be held on Saturday, June 24
(11:00am – 8:00pm) to Sunday, June 25 (11:00am – 5:00pm), at the
"Forest View Education Center" in Arlington Heights, IL. Mid America
Japanese Club (MAJC/JAAC) in Partnership with Community Education
(Township High School District 214) will jointly present "25th Japan
Festival " second time at this new site.

This year, our slogan is "Discover Japan". We have improved our
program and exhibition to suit it. After presenting the same event at
Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, Illinois for 23 years, we moved to
the Forest View Education Center, (2121 S. Goebbert Rd. Arlington
Heights, IL) last year and had a great success. We promise to repeat
the same excitement this year.

Suggested Donation is $3 for adults, $1 for the child under 12 and it
is free for anyone under 6 years old.

The attractions include various demonstrations: Taiko Drums, Koto,
Shinobue, Okinawa Taiko and Dances, Choirs, Japanese Classical Dances,
Minyo Dances, Aikido, Judo, Karate, etc.

Additional demonstration and exhibits are Chano-Yu (Tea Ceremony),
Ikebana (Japanese Flower Arrangements), Shodo (Japanese Calligraphy)
and Miyuki Flowers (Silk Flowers).

Taste of Japan has been always been the center of attraction. We are
planning for even better and more variety of foods this year. Last
year, we served Teriyaki, Yakitori, Yakisoba, Takoyaki and so on.

Other exhibits from talented people will be presented. Most of those
are for sale at the tables: Various Hand Crafts, Sumie, Brush Paints,
Cards, Japanese Folklore Books, Fabric Crafts and Kimono.

Information Tables will also presented by Travel Agents and other
Japanese Organizations.

We have video presentations of all parts of Japan and Japanese culture
to give you the glimpse of wonderful Japanese landscapes and exciting
festivals as well as culture.

This year, we added the video arcade corner by Sega Amusements U.S.A.,
Inc.

Raffle Tickets will be sold for Grand Prize of round trip to Japan and
many prizes.
