JOSIE RETURNS TO ARCHIE COMICS 2005   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #479 of 482 |

JATP is returning as a comic but with a new Manga (Japanese
Animation) look, personally I think it looks too 'cutsey' for my
liking, but what the hell its better than nothing, what annoys me is
that Archie Comics didn't support the movie enough at the time or
exploit the exposure --oh well -better than nothing!!

"ARCHIE COMICS ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS MANGA

Archie Comic Publications will make its second leap into the exciting
world of manga this June with the first appearance of Josie and the
Pussycats Manga!

As most Archie fans know, this is not the company's first venture in
the realm of manga. And the unprecedented success of Archie's manga-
style Sabrina the Teenage Witch has left readers anxious for more.

Like many of the timeless characters from the Archie line, Josie and
the Pussycats Manga will appear in both digests and standard comic
book formats. The girls will make their manga debut with cat tails
waggin' in the pages of Tales From Riverdale Digest #3, shipping June
8.

Josie will keep the momentum going with a second appearance in
Sabrina the Teenage Witch #68, which ships June 29.

Both stories feature the critically-acclaimed writing of regular
Sabrina the Teenage Witch writer Tania del Rio with on the rise manga
artist Chris Lie. Adding a touch of veteran inks will be Andrew
Pepoy, hot off the pages of G.I. Joe. Overseeing the whole shebang
will be none other than editors Nelson Ribeiro and Victor Gorelick,
who promise the blending of Josie and manga will be "purrr-fect"!""
