Daniel, thank you so much. It sounds like you remember it rather
clearly. The book of interviews is available here at Princeton so I
will go find it. The other magazine interview I will have to extract
somewhere, somehow (and have translated!).
It's entirely possible that she was quoting an old saying. Whatever
the case, I very much appreciate the clue you have provided me. If
anyone else has an opinion or suggestion I'd be grateful for it.
Incidentally, since this group has a number of film aficionados: I
have also been on the trail of another quote, one from Orson Welles.
The quote is "My doctor has told me no more intimate dinners for four
- unless three others are present." That's for a chapter on appetite.
So far it has defeated me...
