Dear Ingrid Bergman fans,
I wish to find out whether a quote often attributed to Ms. Bergman has any
provable reference in periodical literature, interviews, or books.
The quote in question is: "Success is getting what you want. Happiness is
wanting what you get." On Internet-based quote sites, this quote is
variously attributed to her and to the self-help writer Dale Carnegie.
However, online information on such a matter is not to be believed.
Therefore I seek something more verifiable!
By the way, this quote is for a book that I am writing on an entirely
different subject: the brain. Our book, Welcome To Your Brain, addresses
what makes our brain tick, including the debunking of myths and useful tips
to help you use your brain better. The Bergman quote is for a chapter on
happiness; if it's her, she hit upon a key principle of attaining happiness
in life.
Many thanks in advance to all the fans of Ingrid Bergman!
All the best,
Sam Wang
