I would think you could use her first name with anything else, but Bergman.
For example, IngridBlanca. Then, public domain images are just that: public
domain.

Yes, it is true. ingridbergman.com is no longer up. It will come back
but under the management of CWG, a group of lawyers in control of
Ingrid's Name and Estate. Of course it will look like the same
Official site that is up now

ghastly. Very unimpressive and unworthy of one of the screen's
greatest actresses. Also outdated, it still reads it is Oscar time?

As many you know I was building what I hoped to be the best Ingrid
site on the web at ingridbergman.com. I went to the Official site and
requested a link. A week later I got a letter stating I was to turn
the domain name over to them as I had no right to it.

What was truly amazing is I have owned the domain for many, many years
and no one ever approached me. It was only my ignorance in contacting
them that brought it to their concern.

I contacted Ingrid's grandson at the ingridbergman.org site and shared
my site. He loved it. He didn't ask for the domain, and he said it was
a great site. I explained that the lawyers wanted the domain, but I
felt I was doing a better job with it than anyone else could. Then he
changed his opinion and all of a sudden his faimly should have the
site and I should give it up because the family wanted it. Again,
where was the family for the last nine years I owned it. No one cared
then, but now it was important. He also stated they would do it
justice more than I because they were family. I agrued to keep the
site unsuccessfully.

I'm a tad bitter, yes. I'm sure I shouldn't be writing this, but these
are my feelings on it. I did give the site up without a fight for the
memory of Ingrid but I pleaded with many a letter asking to keep the
site all to no avail. I was offered the .org domain if I sent
everything for approval first and would give them the right to tell me
what I could do and couldn't do. Very nice for them, a free resource
to promote Ingrid's name and provide a link to the soon to be inferior
..com site.

I was also told I could not run google Adwords or ebay ads or anything
other than Amazon if I accepted the .org domain in exchange, but I was
still required to pay for all the expenses incurred in hosting, but
they maintain strict control. I felt this wasn't fair so I have opted
at this time not to take the .org site. It feels dirty to me now.

What a shame, I think. I put a lot of time, energy, money and
creativity into that site and was tyring to make it a place for all of
us that are fans to contribute our thoughts and feelings and anything
to do with Ingrid.

Well, that was crushed. There are many sites that have Ingrid
information and google adwords and posters and ebay ads, but because I
was trying to reach out to the Ingrid network and be involved I was
punished. I may start another site without her name in it (as the
lawyers told me I could not use), but I'm sure I will be sent another
letter for unauthorized use of images, while hundreds of other sites
are left to do what they please.

If the Larry the Lawyer reads this or Ingrid's grandson, I hope you
understand why I posted this. I'm still stinging a little. I realize
you are right and IngridBergman.com should belong to the family if
they want it, but no one wanted it until I made something of it.

So please no one write to tell me I was wrong to feel angry. I did the
legally right thing, but I can certainly feel jilted if I like. Has
anyone else had this type of experience with Ingrid's family? Is it
worth starting another site? I was about 70% complete with the last
one and may finish it one day if there is interest? Of course I would
continue adding contributions so it would never actually be finished.

Domain name suggestions would be welcome in case I get the motiviation
to try again.
