Dear Friends,
Ingrid didn't have an affair with Spencer Tracy. As he himself said
some years later: "The only thing Ingrid and I did was eat hamburgers
at a drive-in restaurant". Ingrid had fallen in love with her
director, Victor Fleming, during filming of Jekyll and Hyde, though
this was unrequited at the time, so I am certain there was nothing
between her and Tracy. If Hepburn wanted to think so, then that was
up to her - it was said she "despised" Ingrid for ever after.
Personally I think, if she did despise Ingrid, it was out of
professional jealousy.
