Movie Review : Totti Jaya

The entire story revolves just about a rogue and there is nothing special in the anecdote. A rogue who is brought up in such a conduct gets a crush over a girl and tries to rescue the girl from the start to the finish, and finally ends up uniting hands with her. A usual story but portrayed in a different manner.

Review

Totti Jaya (Simbu) is a categorized rogue, who works under the don Seena Thana (Pradeep Rawath). In his childhood, he was so brave and violent that it became mandatory for him to join a boisterous group. The director has described the childhood of Totti Jaya in an excellent manner

In the course of time Jaya gets committed in a murder case. So, his boss moves him to Kolkata to keep him in a safer location. There he meets Brindha (Gopika) who had come to Kolkata for a trip, from Kanyakumari. Unfortunately she misses the train and was awestruck under the hands of anti-social elements.

Jaya rescues Brindha and she pleads him to accompany her till she reaches Kanyakumari. Both of them established a tender feeling and began to love each other. Totti Jaya hands over Brindha to her mother safely. In the meanwhile, it is found that Brindha is the daughter of Seena Thana. Knowing, his daughter’s love with Jaya , the villain gets annoyed and solicits his people to slay him. The rest of the story is how efficiently Totti Jaya handles the threats and joins hands with Brindha. Simbu, as an actor, has executed a full-fledged role and his performance, subsequent to a long gap after Manmadhan has seemed to turn out a triumph. “Hats off to Simbu” The performance of Simbu especially in the climax is unsurpassed. Throughout the film, he appears in black and black (except the song sequences).

Gopika shines in the screen with her excellent expressions. Her performance is improving from movie to movie and it’s sure that she has got a position among the top actress. Praddep Rawath, debut villain in Tamil industry has not performed to the raised expectations. He just shouts at the top of his voice. The other supporting characters are V.M.C.Hanifa and Vadivukarasi, who fit perfectly to their roles.

The songs from Harris are astonishing and marvelous, especially the Thotta Power song, was rocking the theaters and people were asking once more. The background score is also excellent. R.D.Rajasekhar’s camera speaks throughout the movie. The fight sequences are picturised spectacularly. The action sequences by Stun Shiva are really astonishing. Antony’s enthusiastic editing has supported the screenplay a lot. Mohana Mahendran, the art director has performed his job flawlessly.

The movie directed by V.Z.Dhoorai is of different genre of Simbu’s fans. You cannot see Simbu’s hi-fi activities in this movie. The whole credit goes to Kalaipuli.S.Thanu who has produced this movie in a vivacious manner.

1) Simbu’s and Gopika’s performance
2) Harris music
3) Fast Screenplay
4) Good direction

1) Logic is missing in some places
2) Villain shouting at the top of his voice

Altogether, Totti Jaya is a movie mixed with action and emotions in a right manner!
