Given how well The Da Vinci Code did on its opening weekend and given how many of the critics think Ian is the best thing in it (highly plausible), I hope he's already feeling a lot of enthusiasm from his fans going into his birthday.
Thanks, BTW, for your description of DVC. Makes me want to see it!
Cheers,

Ian's birthday is 25 May; I'd really like scads of people to e-post on
that day on his website, www.mckellen.com.
Wish Ian happy birthday, congratulate him on "TDC" and "X3", tell him
you loved him in "LOTR", admit that the DVD of 'Macbeth' scared the
willies out of you, compliment him on his civil rights activism, ask
him when 'King Lear' will be at Stratford or when it'll reach NYC--
whatever. I imagine his webmaster's server gets steady but moderate
activity, so I doubt that even "scads" of people will crash the
server, but wouldn't that be wickedly cool if it were to happen?
If you have friends who are "LOTR," "X-Men," or Shakespearean fans,
and they're familiar with Ian's work, please tell them, so we can
spread the loove (like frosting on a birthday cake...)
...Shakespeare, and mutants, and wizards, oh my!
