Re: [Hey Vern It's a Ernest Club] Which were better: In-Theaters or Not-In-Theaters Movies

Well the thing is, Ernest wasn't always supposed to be stupid. The first
movies, not in theater made him just funny. But when Disney got a hold of him
they overstupified him and that's why I don't like them as much. I mean you
could only like them more if you're amused by stupidity. Ok, maybe Ernest
wasn't supposed to be so smart, but in other movies Jim Varney got to play other
characters which showcased his brilliance. Like Knowwhatimean. that was the
best one ever, with The Family and all that. Movies I've found hard to watch
because of foolishness were the Bo Bridges ones. I don't find stuff funny when
it's too obvious and just over done and there's no timing of seriousness
inbetween to catch you off guard. Of coarse usually when I laugh it's really at
the other people around me who haven't gotten it yet.

his lovable self, but the rest of the movie was always
difficult to endure. Actually, I didn't care for
"Rides Again" either, but I haven't seen that in quite
a while. Gotta take the in-theater movies. Otherwise
Randall "Tex" Cobb might come after me.
I think one other thing that I prefer more about the
early movies is that they were more believable...for
example, how the heck would Ernest actually get into
the Army, and how could said Army do anything useful
if they let him in?
