I'm not a big fan of Final Cut. I worked on a Cinewave/Final Cut system and
I've never worked on another system that was that unstable. Maybe newer
systems that are G5 based are better.

The Aja card looks like a capture only card. What is more important is
realtime capabilities. You don't want to render transitions or picture
effects. Especially not in HD.

For HD I think Discreet Smoke is a good solution.
