Digital Cinema Seminar
Thursday November 14, 2002
6:30 – 9:30 PM
Overview
New York University's Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Film Center and
the TSOA
Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and TV Directors Series are hosting
an
evening dialog for its fi lm students, faculty and alumni, along with
New York
City professionals on the subject of Digital Cinema. The event will
include
short presentations by professionals working in the fi eld, screening
of cinema
clips in 35mm film and digital projection as well as time for
questions from the
audience.
Digital cinema, a relatively new term, evokes the language of fi
lmmaking and
technology of a new millennium. It influences the traditional areas
of
production/acquisition, post-production, distribution and exhibition.
What is
the latest interpretation of this convergence by users and the
industry? Where
has digital cinema worked and will it meet the financial model needed
for
acceptance?
What is the most recent update from SMPTE on establishing technical
standards for the field? How do these new technologies impact
TSOA students? These questions and more will be addressed at this
evening
seminar.
