Hello, everyone! I just thought I'd pass along that the prestigious
The Criterion Collection label is planning a special, Criterion release
of Nicolas Roeg's cult classic, "Bad Timing-A Sensual Obsession" on DVD
this September. It stars Art Garfunkel (yes, of Simon and Garfunkel)
and Theresa Russell, as well as a very cool Harvey Keitel in a lurid
psychosexual drama, set in Vienna. Keitel's look in this film strongly
resembles Travolta in "Pulp Fiction": Long hair, slicked back and in a
pony-tail; black suit with white shirt; and a beige overcoat. I wonder
if Tarantino actually stole that from this? Anyway, the plot concerns a
guy who brings his girlfriend to the hospital following a drug
overdose, and a suspicious cop who interrogates him about what led up
to the event. A series of flashbacks that tell a rather tragic and
disturbing love story follow. It's worth seeing.
Incidentally, Criterion will also issue Nicolas Roeg's OTHER cult
classic, "The Man Who Fell to Earth", starring cool-as-all-hell David
Bowie, at around the same time. No Keitel here, but it's still worth a
look.
